CODE2 IS8966

CONSTRUCTON SPECIFICATION FOR PIPING WORK (RL0-0000-LPR10009, Rev C02) COMPANY COMMENTS 1. In item please mention GS PLR 420and 421, and RL0-0000-LSD-00XX, Standard Pipe Supports. 2. Para 5.8 please include reference to ASME B31.8 also. Also refer to GS PVV 611 and 171. 3. Para 6.3 please clarify the need for lapping ring joint flanges. This is very unusual. 4. Para 6.6.2 please definer more specifically the sequence of welding the suction and discharge piping of pumps and compressors to avoid tension in the line. 5. Please add a new paragraph Minimum space of branch connections clear distance between edges of attachment welds for adjacent branch connections shall not be less than 4 times the thickness of the run pipe or 50mm which ever is greater. 6. Ad new paragraph or include at appropriate paragraph (Visual Examination) Maximum allowable projection into the pipe bore at butt welded joints shall be as per ASME B 31.3 and the following ( 1.5mm) for suction, inter stage and discharge piping of reciprocating compressors. 7. Add new paragraph Hydro testing Hydrostatic testing of individual sections of shop fabricated piping systems are not required. 8. Storage Storage of austenitic SS piping shall be as follows 1) piping shall be stored under cover and out of contact with the ground.2) openings shall be blanked to prevent entry of moisture 3) exposure to salt water, salt spray, or other chlorides shall be prevented. 9. Add new paragraph Erection Temporary shipping braces, stops, or other protective devices for expansion joints shall not be removed until installation is complete, including any adjustment to tie rods etc. 10. Please define the acceptance criteria for flange face damage which generally happens at site.
11. Internal misalignment criteria could be governed by the following Refer to Para 7.6 of GS PVV 171 If the deviation factors are exceeded, one of the following procedures shall be used: Rotate the pipe or fittings to reduce misalignment to the acceptable tolerances (before attempting any of the following methods). Use spreaders or internal or external lineup clamps to correct moderate out-ofround condition. Back weld the root pass. Taper the wall of the component internally after obtaining approval from COMPANY for the proposed method and ensure wall thickness is not reduced below the minimum required by the ASME B31.3 code.

Please review if 1.5mm deviation on 24 inches and greater piping for concentricity and alignment of internal surfaces can be achieved.

12. There are two important issues which need resolution, presently under discussion with JGC Piping in Yokohama 1) Bracing of small bore connection ( 11/2 inches and smaller) pressure systems, branch connection 11/2 inches and less on 900# rating and greater piping, PWHT of seal welds and attachment weld on piping in wet sour service/ amine service/ caustic service and other applicable piping classes.
