About the International Conference

The theme of the conference is Developing Unconventional Oil and Gas Resources with the sub topics as Emerging Technologies and challenges; Exploration & Production issues in South Asia and Lessons from Europe and North America. Development of unconventional oil and gas resources has immense potential as demonstrated by the US experience in shale gas development and production and China rapidly moving towards shale gas development. India has vast deposits of shale gas ready for development. Similar activities in South Asia are at a preliminary stage of development and policy framework required for this is not fully in place. As the Industry experts and academia focus on the emerging technologies, new locations, environmental challenges and country specific licensing issues, it is expected that the outcome of the conference would give a better understanding to the policy makers on exploration and production strategies. Skill development in Asia would be one of the challenges and the conference is expected to address this aspect.
