The Foundation of Creation

I remember that back in the 1980s, my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona made a very foolish purchase. They bought buses which they later discovered could not run in temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. In a city where temperatures often hit 115 in the summer and are elevated even in the winter, that made absolutely no sense. We Christians are definitely feeling the heat of a hostile culture, but must not get out of the kitchen of intellectual and theological debate. Atheists and evolutionists have turned up the heat in our schools and scorched our children with their blasts of arguments against the Bible, a young earth, and God as Creator. Satan knows that if he can undermine our understanding and belief in God as Creator, then he can destroy our trust in Him as Savior. We must cause His name to be remembered in all generations (Psalm 45:17).
Dr. Hayes Wicker Senior Pastor

This Week
Source Ministries is at the Missions Kiosk in the Commons this weekend. This is a nation-wide ministry that reaches homeless youth, teen prostitutes, and those at-risk in urban environments. As our mission partner, Source has facilitated mission trips and ministry internships for our members. Source seeks to be a friend and a voice by providing physical needs, safe environments, and transitional housing while advocating Gods hope, love, and forgiveness.

Special Upcoming Event

Broadway artist J. Mark McVey will be performing at FBCN on Sunday, March 10 at 7pm. There is no cost, but a love offering will be taken. Mark made his Broadway debut as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables after having won the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actor while on tour with the show. He has played the role of Jean Valjean in over 3,000 performances. He was also the first American to perform the role in Londons West End. Mark made his Carnegie Hall debut with Mr. Marvin Hamlisch in April 1997 and has been a guest artist with numerous symphonies around the world. Mark has a wonderful Christian testimony and this is a great outreach!

Sacred & Inspirational Concert

We are excited to welcome Dr. Ken Ham, founder of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum, to our pulpit and church. As an Australian who moved to the U.S., he has a unique understanding of how science does not contradict, but rather confirms Gods divine record. I have personally spoken at his amazing learning center in the Cincinnati area and received a personalized tour by Ken and his staff. In a winsome yet intellectual way, he will speak on Saturday evening, Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Monday evening, concerning various topics. He speaks to thousands of students and adults around the world, so we are privileged to have him and his staff at this time. They also have an amazing vision to recreate the Ark of Noah. The Lord is using their institute, materials, resources, and staff to help us define and defend our faith. We will also be blessed by Dr. Gary Parker, an imminent professor and scientist who specializes in fossils and paleontology. Our students at First Baptist Academy will hear lectures by these good men as they communicate on their level. Yes, they have insights about the flood and dinosaurs and how the heavens declare Gods righteousness (Psalm 50:6). Please invite your friends to this fascinating seminar. Dont miss a single session. Either attend Saturday night or Sunday morning worship services next weekend, as well as the other times. Ken will speak approximately 50 minutes in each worship time, so our music will be shortened next weekend.

Our Lighthouse Bookstore is now selling gently used and new Christian books to benefit FBCNs Resonate Tour and Mission Trip. We are set-up outside the bookstore in the Commons area. Hardbacks $5, paperbacks $1-$3, Bibles $10. Sale goes through Wednesday, February 20.
