Objective
My experience in working newsrooms allows me to come in with experience many people my age do not have. Though I was taught in broadcasting, many of the story skills overlap in terms of finding sources, using reliable yet diverse opinions, and putting together stories the community cares about. What I want out of a job is to help inform and teach the public about the real story, to hopefully get them to better understand the issues that face their community and also help build a stronger sense of community. I also know Im not perfect and that theres still a lot for me to learn. I hope to not only bring a fresh perspective into a newsroom, but also learn from people who have been in the business and could teach me something. I feel if Im not learned and gaining experience, Im not benefitting my colleagues or myself. As a television producer, it is all about finding the most newsworthy information and highlighting it. What do people care about most and grab their attention that way. In television, if you dont have the audience in the first 5 seconds, you dont have them at all.
