SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Section
3506 of the Paperwork Reduction Act of
1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35) requires
that the Office of Management and
Budget (OMB) provide interested
Federal agencies and the public an early
opportunity to comment on information
collection requests. OMB may amend or
waive the requirement for public
consultation to the extent that public
participation in the approval process
would defeat the purpose of the
information collection, violate State or
Federal law, or substantially interfere
with any agency’s ability to perform its
statutory obligations. The Leader,
Regulatory Information Management
Group, Office of the Chief Information
Officer, publishes that notice containing
proposed information collection
requests prior to submission of these
requests to OMB. Each proposed

Abstract: This submission requests
approval for a web-based performance
report needed by the U.S. Department of
Education (ED) to obtain baseline data
and information on the progress and
effectiveness of the Preparing
Tomorrow’s Teachers to use Technology
(PT3) grantees. The PT3 grant program
was established to assist consortia of
public and private entities in
developing and implementing teacher
training programs that prepare
prospective teachers to use technology
for improved instructional practices and
student learning opportunities in the
classroom. The performance reports will
be completed by all 225 grantees and
data gathered from the reports will be
used by ED to determine which
activities are most successful at training

preservice teachers to integrate
technology and to determine the overall
effectiveness of the PT3 grant program.
