CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The objective is to start an intensive Aquaculture Development at Boroland Territorial Council (Western part of Assam), with varied infrastructure promoting the development of fisheries in the region along with socio economic development as a whole 1.2 PROPOSED PROJECT

The project conceives development of area of 4255 Hectares of wet land at BTC Kokrajhar for addressing the need based development of Fisheries in such region. The identified heads of intervention are tabulated as follows

The project is sought to be funded by National Fisheries Development Board for the subsidy part and MNREGA for the Loan contribution part 1.3 PROJECT LOCATION

The proposed location for the project is BTC comprising of mainly four districts of Assam namely Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang and Udalguri 1.4 PROJECT DOMICILE

The project will house the interventions as narrated in the above table with modern technologies for implementation

CHAPTER 2: PROJECT RATIONALE


2.1 HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Bodoland is the gateway to the beautiful North Eastern Region of India, which was created very recently by curving out some area of eight districts of Assam namely Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Nalbari, Kamrup, Darang and Sonitpur within the state of Assam. It is an autonomous Administrative unit constituted under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India covering an area of 8795 Sq. Km 2.2 LOCATION The geographical boundary of BTC lies between 260 7'12'' N to 260 47' 50'' N Latitude and 890 47' 40'' E to 920 18' 30'' E Longitude and is in the North Western part of Assam. Kokrajhar town the

Administrative Head Quarter lies roughly between 260 25' N Logitude and 990 16' 38'' E Latitude. Its strategic location is blessed with beautiful forests with of flora and founa.
