Role Definition The System Test Manger is dedicated to ensuring that Veebeams products meet the end user and our customer requirements and that all our deliverables are fit for purpose. Veebeams System Test team will comprise of a team leader and 2-6 testers and is based in Cambridge. The role will include: Managing the System Test team. Lead, plan and direct the activities of test engineers, maximising effectiveness. Responsible for analysing, generating, estimating and delivering Use Cases and Test plans within the constraints of time, cost and quality, to the customers satisfaction, acting as a responsible point of contact for the team. Manage and measure performance and delivery against work plans, and take corrective action where necessary. To be actively involved in evolving and improving the testing methodology across Engineering teams building on automation and scripting. Drive continuous process improvement. To undertake such other work as is necessary to achieve the overall objectives of the System Test Team. Ensure that where practicable, maximum benefit is recouped from the System Test team. 2. Executive Profile Essential: At least 5 years experience of System Test as a test manager or lead engineer in a company developing Consumer Electronics products. A strong understanding of testing and automation technologies from both a technical and business perspective, specifically writing Test Plans, Test specifications and Test Reports. Experience in managing and sustaining diverse relationships. Demonstrated pro-activity in capitalising on opportunities and resolving issues. Use of defect tracking systems and version control systems; Desirable: Experience of embedded software testing; Experience of Wireless Networking devices / Communications Systems, such as Bluetooth and WiFi; Experience of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS 10.x; Experience of using scripting languages (Perl, Python, shell scripts) for automating tests; 3. Behavioural competencies: A proactive self-starter, keen to work in the dynamic environment of a small startup company, and willing to drive issues to resolution with appropriate persistence and persuasiveness. Job purpose of test manager is to improve product quality work with the testing team to assist with the preparation of test plans and the testing of software to company guidelines and standards. Key duties of IT Test manager 1. Coordinates all activities and all testers during each testing phase of a project or program 2. Co-operates with clients/users and senior staff as required to agree the testing strategy to be employed for development projects. 3. Maintains awareness of testing alternatives at a level where they can be analyzed and the most effective testing strategy selected and agreed 4. Utilizes testing knowledge and experience to assess and advise on the practicality of testing process alternatives. 5. Identifies improvements to the process and assists in their implementation. 6. Plans, arranges and controls meetings, workshops and relations with client/user staff during test planning and throughout subsequent development and testing activities. 10. Takes responsibility at a high level for the proper conduct of such relations. 11. Takes responsibility for all phases of testing and the management of the testing activities within a development project. 12. Plans or oversees the planning of the system and acceptance tests and coordinates the execution of these plans. 13. Takes responsibility for early life-cycle validation and verification. 14. Takes responsibility for the production and approval of all testing deliverables and

achievement of testing milestones during a project. 15. Fulfils the role of Testing Co-ordinator for a development project or program of projects.

Position Summary: This is a hands-on job that requires extensive experience in managing several concurrent, multi-platform testing projects that require a deep understanding of the complex application logic and dependencies. It requires strategic planning along with tactical leadership and expertise throughout the test life cycle, ensuring the success of the team's manual and automation efforts. It also requires healthy doses of initiative and the ability to remain flexible and responsive in a very dynamic environment. Ideal candidate must have a verifiable track record of success in leading and managing technical test teams as a FTE Test Manager. Responsibilities:

Provide expertise in scope definition, effort estimating and sizing of testing efforts. Work closely with programmers and business users in designing test cases which offer 100% business requirement coverage. Provide systems integration test leadership for mission critical business applications with multiple interfaces. Assist test team in the development of all testing-related documentation, including test plans, test cases/scripts, and bug reports. Ability to be hands-on or lead based on the situation. Personally provide training for accessing, configuration, and using Quality Center. Reporting of key testing statistics and trends related to test design & execution highlighting system quality and team status against committed project milestones. Manage objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, risk and performance of all reporting staff.

Requirements
Must have prior Banking and/or Financial Services experience. Expert level knowledge of HP Quality Center is preferred. Attestable experience as a Test Manager for multiple large projects At least 10 years experience exclusively with software testing, including but not limited to Creating SIT test strategy and test plans Designing test cases/and scripts Generating test data Executing test cases Report and tract defects to closure Skills with varied systems based on Unix/AIX/Linux, Mainframes, Windows etc. SQL skills and experience Knowledge of ETL and Data Warehousing (Informatica preferred) Experience with different types of testing (e.g., functional, end-to-end, system integration, regression, black box, white box) and SDLC methodologies and processes Familiarity with test automation technology (e.g., HP QuickTestPro) and the factors to consider for test automation Hands-on experience specifying, establishing and managing test environments and test data Four year baccalaureate degree in computer science or related discipline. Industry certifications (ISTQB, CAST, CSTE) a plus Self-motivated, able to work independently and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision Ability to work in multi-team environment with people from diverse cultural backgrounds Excellent communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization.

Mission:

Establish and lead ISC consensus on ISC's Software Quality Assurance Policy. Increase customer satisfaction, code reliability and developer productivity across ISC's BIND software products while reducing development and maintenance costs.

Responsibilities:

Review, evaluate, and document existing Quality Assurance/testing code, processes and contributors. Review, evaluate, document dedicated/shared/contributed hardware testing environments. Working with ISC's support team, customers and wider user community, document existing and future hardware/software environments, as well as areas of concern for them. Ensure test coverage across a broad range of environments, testing all elements of the release process.

Correlate areas of focus, and prioritize testing methodologies based on prior areas of concern, and areas of current/future development focus.

Author, with collaborative buy-in from all parties, a practical methodology for testing. Publish, champion, and revise plans in partnership with all stakeholders. Write, delegate, and utilize testing into a consolidated suite of documented tests. Put together a plan for future testing, including areas for development, hardware/lab requirements, and staffing requirements, to obtain specific results.

Manage a per-release QA plan, using existing engineering and hardware Split time equally between development of new BIND10 and enhancements to existing BIND9 code bases. Ensure release alpha and beta test programs, developed with product manager, have clearly define deliverables and timelines, and that these are met.

Develop response strategies and processes for high-criticality and security vulnerability related bug notifications. Pro-actively investigate and find potential security holes and attack vectors within both the existing and newly-developed code base.

Review historical, existing and ongoing bug reports to identify areas needing specific attention. Liaison with Product Manager and individual software development Managers to ensure delivery of a high-quality product is compatible with release timeline targets.

Test conformance of products to unit, regression, protocol/interoperabilty and user interface standards.

Additional Qualifications:

Highly technical. Should be capable of being a developer, but prefer to work in testing and quality assurance. Proven track record of completing projects to specifications while dealing with challenges such as cross-team dependencies, changing schedules, and constantly evolving requirements.

High-responsibility business leadership (situations where the company would fail in its endeavors if you failed) Ability to work independently and in a team

Experience:

10 years experience in a high-technology software company, 15 years experience preferred. At least five, preferably 10 years of experience in performing testing and maintaining the quality of a complex software product. Experience as a second-level manager a plus. Experience with Internet Protocols a plus.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree. Masters preferred.
