Independent music
It has been called independent music to different genres, currents and interventions, for different reasons: when the group plays that genre is not tied to market circuits musical or sound broadcasting or advertising. when done with purely artistic vocation and noncommercial. when an artist playing style or set parameters not appear to meet the definition of any label known or used by the press. when the record label responsible for editing the recordings or the broadcast media (radio, publications ...) are small-scale or amateur status. when the whole artistic process is controlled by the musicians and he did not interfere guidelines or conditions of marketing departments, record companies, institutions or media. Have been considered indie blues, punk, reggae, grunge, indie rock, pop, grindcore, death metal ... when hatching or artistic development fulfilled some of the points of this definition. Media are specifically dedicated to independent music, as Supernovapop magazine, the netlabel Gudnois, Popmadrid portal, radio station Radio 3 and programs like Elastic Plastic Telemadrid Radio.

HISTORY During the 20 large U.S. companies (also known as "multis" or "majors") such as Columbia Records and Virgin Records were challenged by many small labels called "independent". These were specialized in the music market of race (black), which is then classified as music buyers blues and jazz, but the crisis of the late '20s undermined these companies ended in bankruptcy or at best cases absorbed by a "greater". The term "independent" in the '50s resurfaces in North America when the record market was made up songs and their performers. Large corporations pay record composers to compose songs and sought out interpreters for the present. They all had their own distribution system which ensured that all your songs and albums reach all parts of the country. Without this distribution system was very difficult to get a disc could enjoy minimal success, and any small label obviously did not. By this time, and since 1912 was the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) by which composers and publishers protect their interests (similar to Spanish SGAE) and also the performance rights granted to the media, mainly the radio. This association did not consider "tasteful" black music that could be heard on the radio so systematically censored any blues or jazz song that you could get through an independent label. So in addition to not being able to find in stores, music "different" could not listen on local radio frequency concession. Thus arise pirate radio, broadcasting from dilapidated sheds or from boats several miles away from the coast. In 1941 an association of radio and dj launched a rival association was called ASCAP BMI (Broadcast Music Incorporated), representing many composers and publishers that had previously been ignored (of hillbilly, country, blues, jazz and foreigners). The ASCAP did everything he could to local radio programasen not BMI songs, many songs were censored as "Such a Nigth" Johnnie Ray for alleged sexual incident, but the virus was inoculated and in society. The BMI survived and increased their income and popularity quickly when a new sound called Rock'n'roll born from the hands of black artists like Little Richard or Chuck Berry.
