ERC WAREHOUSE HAS MOVED!

ERC Warehouse use to be located on Route 22 South of Hoosick Falls. They have moved to 19 Church Street in Melrose (Rte 40) in the old Esquire Drug building. ERC was first established in 1995 as a 501(c) 3 notfor-profit organization with a goal of diverting reusable items from the waste (thrown away) stream and to offer them for resale at low cost. With the exception of clothing, the warehouse accepts everything from shovels, to furniture, to televisions, to washers, dryers, refrigerators and almost any usable items that can be resold. Matt Curley, a Pittstown youngster, is the curator of the warehouse and he says, We chose the location because it is accessible and has plenty of storage space. We have been well received by Melrose residents, and we thank them for that. The ERC Community Warehouse is Your Used Goods Super Store where you can find bargains galore. Of course, to be able to sell these items, they must first be donated to the ERC in reasonably good condition. When you donate, you receive a letter from ERC indicating the deductibility of the donation. So, instead of tossing those old appliances, or other personal properties, consider donating them to ERC.

You may call Matt or his staff at 518-687-1017 during the hours of 9-5 Tuesday through Friday and 9-4 on Saturday. Closed Sunday.

BRING A FRIEND TO LUNCH DAY Please join the Troy Senior Center on Friday, February 22nd for Bring a Friend to Lunch Day. We will be serving a nutritious and delicious meal at 12 noon. Menu: Tuna Bake, broccoli, biscuit, and chocolate pudding w/topping. Bring a friend to lunch and choose from one of our grab bag gifts!

FREE COMMUNITY LUNCH- The Argyle United Methodist Church, 12 Sheridan St., is serving a free community lunch on Saturday, February 23, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. All are welcome to join us.

The Gulping Gourmand

Periodic Discourse Concerning Dining in Our Area.
I went to what use to be my favorite restaurant, Potters Tavern @ Sterup Square in Raymertown, NY. I was very disappointed. I had turkey pilgim, which was good. But, the service was snail paced. It took forever to get waited on and even more time to receive a check. I ordered their mousse and was very disappointed. The dessert arrived in an aluminum cup and was not very chocolaty. The pastry they had the mousse sitting in was soggy, with that I have been in the frig way too long taste. Over all, it was not a good dining experience, when usually it is. Rating: Not good. Becky English are extremely proud of their new addition to their Cafe (formerly the Cambridge Diner). Five years ago The Country Gals Cafe moved from their location on Route 22 in Cambridge to the building they now occupy on West Main Street in Cambridge. The building suffered from a cramped kitchen, a single bathroom reachable only through the aisle of tables, and a back room reachable only by going through the kitchen or out and around the south side of the building. Well, that has all changed. Starting in late December Country Gals Cafe engaged the services of carpenter and contractor Dan Johnson of Shushan, who began extensive renovations to the building. There are now two bathrooms, handicapped accessible, a hallway leading from the front table area to the back dining area and to the new bathrooms, and a renovated kitchen that allows much more efficiency. Although the seating capacities of the two dining areas (front and back) remain the same, their is much more elbow room for everyone. Jeannie, Todd and Becky are excited about the improvements and were very impressed by Dan Johnsons prompt attention to the project and his excellent work. Their menu hasnt changed, but the atmosphere certainly has. And they still have the greatest wheat bread in the area! Stop in and check out their new digs. We think you will be impressed; we were! Oh, and be sure to mention we suggested it. Hrs: Wed-Sat 5:30am-1:30pm; Sun 6-1, breakfast only on Sunday.

The 2013 grant will enable the CCC to once again offer its Music in the Courtroom chamber music series under the direction of accomplished pianist, conductor and educator, Daniel Shulman. The Sunday concerts at 3 pm will be offered on April 21, May 19 and June 9. Mr. Shulman has lined up an impressive roster of talented performers who will present compositions by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert and Mozart. Mr. Shulmans commentary before each selection provides great insight into the lives of the composers and the times in which they lived. LARAC has also funded Art for Young Students, a wonderful opportunity for art instruction which will be offered over the spring school break from April 1 through April 5. The classes are being conducted by Gabi Moore, an artist who lives in Cambridge. Gabi has extensive teaching experience including eleven years at Fordham University. Students between the ages of 5 to 9 may take advantage of Painting for Fun from 1 to 2 each afternoon. Extreme Drawing is being offered to students between the ages of 10 to 14 each afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30. Due to the generous support of LARAC, there will be no charge to participate in either class. Space is limited and parents should contact the CCC at 518-854-7053 to register their children. Both events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, administered locally by the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council.
