Primary Clinton, Catherine. The Civil War: An Illustrated History. New York: Scholastic, 2004. Print.

If pictures were a thousand words, then Clinton wove together a novel. Although the book was of pictures, it allowed me to see the damage done to Atlanta by Sherman.

Gary, Amy. The Union: Diaries, Memoirs and Letters of the Civil War. China: Watermark., 2011. Print. Amy Gary piles in diaries, memoirs, and letters from Union Soldiers on the move. In one of the records, men in Savannah build an oven proving to me this was one of the better sources I used in my paper.

The woman who wrote the diary experienced the worst type of war. A war against civilians was being experienced. This is Dolly Sumner Lunt's view of the "liberation" of southern plantations.

N. pag. Ser. 1. Web. 4 Jan. 2013. The compiler wonderfully stitched together all of the telegrams and orders sent by Union Command. This book, found it on the internet, is very straight foreword sticking to orders and chatter among the officers.

Sherman, William T. Personal Memoirs of Gen. W.T. Sherman. New York: C.L. Webster &, 1890. Print. William T. Shermans personal journal includes orders and who he fought during certain battle. He includes tidbits of rare information. By any case, his Memoirs helped me in the prelude to the whole march.

Sherman, William T. "Mississippi and Georgia." Home Letters of General Sherman;. New York: C. Scribner's Sons, 1909. 284-327. Print. Home Letters of General Sherman could help tell how Sherman is preparing to wreck the south.. The book contains all the letters written home from Sherman on the battlefront. Time Life Magazine, ed. Soldier Life. Alexandria, VA: Time-Life, 1996. Print. Soldier Life provides an inside view of soldiers everyday lives through letters and diaries of men in the field. Encyclopedia Britannica brilliantly voiced and animated this path of destruction to Savannah. The animators labeled the 4 main groups that made Georgia howl.

Catton, Bruce. The Civil War. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1988. Print. Catton teaches brilliantly about life in the Civil War. I used this in the paragraphs about life on the march to the Sea.

Cox, Jacob D. The March to the Sea: Franklin and Nashville. New York: C. Scribner's Sons, 1882. Web. 3 Jan. 2013. Mr. Cox's book gives a very detailed insight as to how Sherman went about his business during the march. It also includes Sherman's backup plans for the March in case something didn't happen according to plan.

Cozzens, Peter. Battles and Leaders of the Civil War. Urbana: University of Illinois, 2002. Print. Cozzens explains why who was sent to fight who. His explanations also included why the Union lost so many men. He explained why Sherman went for the kill in the South.

Dupuy, R. Ernest, and Trevor N. Dupuy. The Compact History of the Civil War. New York: Hawthorn, 1960. Print. The Compact History of the Civil War tells very precise facts relating to the Civil War. I used this book to help describe the daily life of soldiers on the march.

Green, Carl R., and William R. Sanford. Union Generals of the Civil War. Springfield, NJ: Enslow, 1998. Print. Union Generals of the Civil War credits victories and successes to Union Generals. Carl Green and William Sanford gave me dates of battles which I used to locate Sherman.

"Sherman's March." History.com. A&E Television Networks, n.d. Web. 03 Jan. 2013. The folks at history channel analyzed Shermans tactics and motives, making it easier for anyone to understand why he did what he did. Sherman may have been a key to the end of the war. This webpage tells why.

"The Civil War." The Civil War. N.p., n.d. Web. 4 Jan. 2013. Sonofthesouth.net was an excellent composition on the March to the Sea. The maintainer of the site gave many reasons as to how the South tried to retaliate against Sherman.
