The genre of the film is a drama which is stereotypically of a British film as they chose stories which are close to real life as possible. The films which have been released at the same time as Broken all vary. You have your large Hollywood block busters distributed by warner brothers (fire with fire) which is an action film. Babeldom is an independent film which was also published around the same time. A comedy, distributed by a large company, paramount. And Side Effects is the only drama thriller film which is similar to broken, however this film is saturated. The BBFC rating is a 15, this is because unlike Hollywood blockbusters they do not alter as many scenes to fit their audience and make it bigger. The film would appear to most British citizens, who have either experience some of these things, old teenagers to young adults would be best suited as it does contain some level of violence and sexual nature. There was only one poster of Broken, and in this they chose to highlight the bond between the main character and her dad together. Its a simple picture set in front of a brick wall, which connotes danger, England, estates and something bad will happen, the fat that her dad is wearing a suit and shes laid back in jeans and a jumper also shows the difference and how she is happy and holding him while his face is stern and hes looking down on her. The trailer is very different in this film as they hardly use any fast pacing cuts, but use long key scenes that are in the film, almost telling the story but not in a chronological order. They focus on the story of the main character and work from there, but include all the little events which lead up to the climax. They use a lot of dialogue, no voice overs or background music; its all naturally done to replicate reality. Because this is a British film, there have been hardly any social interactions with new media as they just do not have the money to do so, however where they can use free new media they have. I cannot even find any face book or twitter pages for the film promoting it. They rely on the audience to find out through word of mouth. They have not also done any competitions or spent any more money using the pubic to promote as this film has been on a low budget.
