Procedure for Obtaining an Evaluation License

Purpose of this document

The purpose of this document is to describe the process for obtaining an evaluation license for a Fortinet virtual appliance.

General information
The document does not describe the technical steps needed in order to prepare the virtual environment for the evaluation. It also does not detail how to configure a virtual appliance for use. Instructions for preparing the virtual environment and configuring the virtual appliance are described in the System Guide documentation. System Guides can be found at http://docs.fortinet.com/. IMPORTANT: Evaluation licenses have an expiration date. At the end of the evaluation period (usually 30 days), it is necessary to obtain a new evaluation license file to continue an evaluation.

Virtual appliances currently available from Fortinet are included in the table on the next page for reference.

To obtain an evaluation license for yourself or for your customers

Follow these steps: 1. Request a registration code from your Fortinet sales representative. Send your request via email and include the following information: Product name & SKU (e.g. FortiGate-VM02 / FG-VM02) Fortinet partner information Business name Contact name Contact phone number Contact email address Business name Contact name Contact address Contact phone number Contact email address Note: Fortinet Customer Service will send the registration code to this email address Opportunity size Probability to close

Customer information (restate your information if the evaluation is for your use)

Fortinet requires an evaluation agreement to be signed by the evaluator before approving any and all requests. If approved, Fortinet customer service will send the registration code to the customer contact email address that was provided in the original request. 2. Register the code and download the evaluation license file. Instructions for completing the registration process and obtaining the evaluation license file will be included in the email from Fortinet customer service. 3. Install the license file. Follow the steps in the appropriate System Guide to upload the license file to the virtual appliance and begin the evaluation.
