Valencia County Animal Control (VCAC) may grant extensions in some cases. The foster care provider provides a purely benevolent service and obtains no rights to an animal by providing foster care. During the foster care period, the foster care provider assumes the duties of an owner under all laws and is civilly and criminally liable for all harms caused to or by the animal during the foster care period. VCAC acknowledges that a bond may form between the animal and the provider during foster care and VCAC will in most cases give the foster care provider the first option to adopt the animal if applicable. The following requirements apply in addition to other requirements imposed by law: 1. 2. 3. The foster care provider shall allow home inspections by VCAC during foster period. The foster care provider shall immediately return an animal to VCAC upon demand for any reason. The foster care provider shall request to obtain an extension or shall return an animal to the VCAC upon expiration of the 30 days. 4. If the animal becomes ill or is injured during the foster care period, the foster care provider shall return the animal to VCAC or may provide the required care by paying a private veterinarian at the foster care providers sole expense. The foster care provider shall provide, at the foster care providers sole expense, any and all necessary feeding and grooming for the animal during the foster care period. 5. The foster care provider shall not convey or deliver the possession, custody or control of an animal to any third party during foster care. By signing below, I indicate that I understand that if I do not comply with any and all applicable laws, do not comply with the above requirements, or do not deliver or surrender any animal upon demand by the VCAC, regardless of the reasons for the demand, that I may be prosecuted, be required to reimburse the County for all costs associated with an involuntary surrender of an animal, and may be barred indefinitely from adopting or fostering animals from VCAC. ____________________________________ SIGNATURE, FOSTER CARE PROVIDER ____________________________________ ANIMAL CONTROL REPRESENTATIVE
