Guidelines for Summer Internship Marketing Stream

Summer Internship gives the student an opportunity to work on a problem in an organization. In particular students of marketing specialization can engage in a wide range of problems related to consumer behavior studies, market attractiveness, channel preferences, business development and several others. Students are allowed to undertake 2 kinds of projects : 1. Projects involving a. Business Development (Sales) b. Increasing awareness Students focus would be on sales process, achievement of targeted sales numbers, methods used for increasing & measuring awareness, Evaluation criteria Problem Statement 10 marks Study Objectives 10 marks Industry and company information & Conceptual Framework - 10 marks Methods / Tools used for achieving sales targets / Increasing awareness 30 marks Findings / Results (Sales Number terms ) / Strategy Recommendations 30 marks Regular presentation of work to faculty guide (minimum eight email correspondences about the study or reports as suggested by the faculty guide) 5 marks Corporate Mentor report 5 marks Total : 100 marks

2. Projects involving the study of a Research problem Students focus would be on Defining problem statement, study objectives, hypotheses if any Analysis and Suggestions to be elaborated Evaluation criteria Problem Statement 10 marks Study Objectives 10 marks Industry and company information & Conceptual Framework 10 marks Research Methodology & Design- 30 marks Findings, Suggestions and Strategy Recommendations- 30 marks Regular presentation of work to faculty guide (eight email correspondences about the study or reports as suggested by the faculty guide) 5 marks Organization Mentor report 5 marks Total : 100 marks

Stage 2

On the student reporting to the company Key Performance Indicators Report (KPIR Report 2) to be sent to faculty guide at CUIM (through official mail only)
The company mentor needs to : A. Define the problem B. Establish the Objectives of the study C. Establish parameters of measuring performance for the student. This needs to be communicated by the mentor to the faculty guide at CUIM (through official mail only). Both the mentors will guide the student through the project.

At the end of the project company mentor needs to submit a report highlighting the following parameters and rate the students on a scale of 1 to 5 ( 1 Lowest & 5 Highest)
Corporate Mentor Report (CMR Report 3)

Achieving the goals and targets, effectiveness or corrective measures adhered to, learnings on setting and time management.

Effectiveness and efficiency of tools and techniques used, knowledge, skills acquired, learnings from t results. Successful in decision making under conditions of uncertainty or insufficient data (if project provided opportunity) Developed team playing capability (if project provided opportunity) Developed confidence in dealing with customers (if project provided opportunity. Stage 3 After successful completion of internship, students need to submit the final report to the corporate & their respective faculty mentors within 15 days of the start of 4th trimester. The report needs to mandatorily have company guide report & internship completion report. Viva would be conducted individually by faculty panel on following parameters.

FACULTY ROLE Students are to communicate on a continuous basis with their respective faculty mentors. Students are to send emails as per time schedule with the attached format of

Progressive Evaluation Record (PER). Faculty comments are to be captured in the PER. If there are no comments from the faculty, students are allowed to mention the same in the PER. The PER has to be submitted along with the Internship report by the student during viva. Minimum interaction required is 6.

Telephonic conversation would not be considered.

Guidelines for the Internship Report Students are required to present one copy of the report to CUIM and another to the respective corporate. Soft copy of the Internship report to be mandatorily submitted in CD format along with hard copy submission. 1.Reporting Guidelines are as follows Size-70-90 pages (Indicative) Hard Bound Font Size=12/14 1.5 line spacing. A4 Size Exe. Bond Paper. Font style in Times New Roman/Arial. 2.Literature review & references are mandatory. 3.Only for 15% of the sample size, questionnaire allowed to be administered online. 4.Administering questionnaire amongst hostel mates can lead to disqualification. 5.Copies of filled-in questionnaire to be carried during viva. Should contain email & mobile number details of the respondents as random checks would be done.
