2013 ( Friday ) Listening and speaking World of stories Granpas House 1.1 By the end of the year primary schooling, pupils will be able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation in accordance to Standard British English (SBE). 1.2 By the end of the year primary schooling, pupils will be able to listen and respond appropriately in formal and informal situations for a variety of purposes. 1.3 By the end of the year primary schooling, pupils will be able to understand and respond to oral texts in a variety of contexts. Learning Standards 1.1.2 Able to listen and enjoy simple stories. 1.3.1 Able to listen and demonstrate understanding of oral texts by: a) giving answer with Yes/No replies b) answering simple Wh-Questions Learning Objective 1. By end of the lesson pupils are able to speak about Granpas House. 2. Pupils are able to listen and respond appropriately. 3. Pupils are able to draw and colour things in Granpas House. Introduction Talk about family 1.Teacher shows a family photo and asks some questions such as : a) Who is the oldest in your family? b) Do love your granpa? c) On school holidays do you like to visit your granpas house? Answering simple questions Family Photo
2. Teacher shows pupils a big book with title Granpas House . 3. Teacher asks pupils to speak about what they can see on the cover page.
4. Teacher tells the story to pupils, at the same time teacher asks pupils to observe and listen to what are the things in Granpas house.
5.Teacher asks some pupils to tell the story and also mentioned name of things that can be find at Granpas House.
Teacher makes sure that pupils tell the story in correct order.
6. Pupils play a game a) Teacher tells name of things. b) Pupils find for the picture of things in the big book and spell the word.

7. Teacher asks pupils to draw pictures of things that can be find at Granpas House and colour it.
c. Reflection This lesson plan was carried out with year one students. Pupils were enjoying viewing a big book with colourful pictures. Pupils were able to speak and answer questions asked by teacher. Pupils were observing very well and able to mention things that can be find at Granpas house. Pupils were enjoying talking about their Granpas House. They also shared their own experience with other students. Pupils took part in game activity and enjoyed themselves. Pupils were trying to speak in English language. While conducting the class there were some students unable to tell Granpas House stories in English language. This is because they didnt enter preschool and learning most of other subject in their mother tongue. Pupils were able to identify things and spell the name of things. However pupils like to draw and colour the picture. Pupils draw the things and colour it very well. Through carrying out this lesson pupils were able to improve their speaking skill. At the end of this lesson, 85% of pupils were able to listen, observe, identify, answer simple questions and speak in English language.
