ZTE MyRing Product Description

Overview
The coming years will witness a fast global growth of the mobile telephone subscribers, which are expected to exceed 2 billion in 2008, 1.7 times the current number. The locomotive of subscriber growth has changed from the mobile telephone replacement by the subscribers in some developed countries such as America, Europe and Japan to the mushrooming emerging markets in China, India, Russia and Brazil. Propelled by the influential growth of the mobile telephone market, the global electronic component market and high-tech industries will achieve a new round of growth. By the end of 2003, the number of global mobile telephone subscribers had exceeded 1.2 billion. Nokia of Finland, the largest mobile telephone manufacturer in the world, once predicted that the number of global mobile telephone subscribers would exceed 2 billion in 2010. However, a latest study has showed this prediction would come true two years earlier. Now it is predicted that the above-mentioned four major emerging mobile telephone markets will contribute half of the 0.8 billion newcomers in the coming few years. The mobile telephone subscribers in India, with a population over 1 billion, has undergone the fastest growth in the world, from 10 million at the end of 2002 up to 28 million in 2003 attributed to the opening of mobile telephone market, which was monopolized by the state-owned telecom company, its domestic tycoon. Gartner, an American market research company, predicts that the number of Indian mobile telephone subscribers would exceed o.1 billion with a popularity rate of 10%. What will this huge market yield? Judging from the present ARPU (Average Revenue per User), the mobile income in speech is obviously going downhill. The market is increasingly developing its low-end mobile telephone subscribers, but is suffering a slow growth of the high-end subscribers with large-volume traffic. Therefore, it is indispensable for a mobile communications company to develop multiple profitable channels in an attempt to reinforce its leading position in the market. At present, however, the fierce competition in the mobile market makes it unavoidable to face the challenges from other operators and their new services. If an enterprise wants to survive and grow, it is a must to develop value-added services as well as new services. In a word, the operators must vary their policies with different consumption communities. Internationally, the operators provide consumers with large quantities of services such as games, animated cartoons, music and multi-media information, and gain more in return from each of them. Anyone who has been to Japan and South Korea, where mobile telephones are favorite tolls of their youth, are unexceptionally impressed by their intense mobile telephone culture. Color Ring Back Tone (CRBT) is a new value-added service that allows the mobile telephone subscribers to customize their own ring-back tones. If a subscriber succeeds in requesting this service, his/her mobile telephone, when called, will no more respond with monotonous beeping ring-back tones but some humanized response tones such as a wonderful music melody or an callers warm greeting. Until now, the CRBT service has been rapidly developed on the traditional PSTN, GSM and CDMA networks, and brings a new service growth to operators. With the development of core network, it will be migrated from TDM to be IP based network. In order to meet the operators requirement, ZTE offers IP based CRBT solution. This solution can be smoothly migrated to provide the video based Multi-media RBT in the near future upon the core network having the capability to support video service. Unified IP based RBT platform supports CDMA2000/WCDMA/IMS/NGN networks.

4.4

Security Solution
ZTE MyRing System is designed for High reliability and availability.

4.4.1

System Security Architecture

SW: System is modularized, Core party will not permit any other 3rd party direct connection, all signaling or IT system connection will be connected with peripheral interfaces first. HW: All the equipments nodes even the single board, are designed to supply 1+1 host/standby or N+1 redundant. For example: SMP, SCP adopt 1+1 Hot/standby mainframe, for big capacity, SCP adopts N+1 High end Servers. WebSvr/IMP/NFS, also adopt 1+1 Backup or N+1 Backup High end Servers. For Web access, Firewall is required to divide internal network from outside. The Single Board is adopt N+1 redundancy, for example, the MPC card in Media server, each MPC board supplies 2 ports, can be load sharing or hot/standby, also at least 2 MPC boards are configured, for redundancy.

4.4.2

Network Security Solution

ZTE MyRing system networks is designed as Dual Plat Dual Networks to avoid any single pot fault. Each Node supports two network port to connect to two different Switch/Routers. For 1+1 hot/standby system, heartbeat is configured between the two servers, for N+1 redundant servers, any node fault, other servers will take over the traffic. Please refer to figure 2, there are two networks, between two Switches and Routers, test connection also is established, any one fault happens, the other node will take over the traffic load.

4.4.3

Traffic Security Solution

ZTE MyRing System designed overload protection mechanism to prevent system failure during traffic peak, especially for the congestion in special busy cases as some festival days. For multiple services in same platform, this mechanism can disable the monopolization of the core server resource by a single service and guarantee the proper processing of the received calls.

Core Server: We can set the overload control of the core server as four levels, such as:

ZTE Confidential Proprietary

2008 ZTE Corporation. All rights reserved.

15

ZTE MyRing Product Description

Level 1: the lowest level, 90% of calls are passed, means 1 call is rejected out of 10. Level 2: 80% of calls are passed, means 2 calls are rejected out of 10. Level 3: 60% of calls are passed, means 4 calls are rejected out of 10. Level 4: 50% of calls are passed, means 5 calls are rejected out of 10.

The principle of the overload control is mainly based on the system running traffics and system resources occupancy: The CPU occupancy of core server: level 1, 75%; level 2, 80%; level 3, 85%; level 4, 90%. Messages per second overstocked: level 1, 100; level 2, 200; level 3, 300; level 4, 400.

We made the count based on these parameters. Suppose, M/N is weighting analysis figure. Here M is the CPU occupancy and N is the overload messages per sec. then the standard is as below:

Table 3

Overload control

M <75% N<100 100 N <200 200 N <300 300 N <400 400 Normal Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4

75% M<80% Level 1 Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4

80% M<85% Level 2 Level 2 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4

85% M<90% Level 3 Level 3 Level 3 Level 3 Level 4

90% M Level 4 Level 4 Level 4 Level 4 Level 4

IMP Server: Each IMP server ( includes provisioning IMP, charging IMP, etc) has its own flux control and can configure volume per sec. when exceeding the threshold, the system will automatically buffer for the messages for later processing.

Web Server: The volume control is depending on L4 Switch (F5), system will dynamically assign average load to each web server via F5, F5 has system level volume threshold control strategy, when exceeding certain load, system will refuse more operation requests automatically.

Interface with the SP/CP Interface with Intelligent Network-SCP (MML/CORBA/XML/Diameter) Interface with SMSC (SMPP/CIMD).

The figure below shows the interfaces of ZTE MyRing system.

Figure 4 Interfaces of ZTE MyRing System

7.1

Interface with BOSS System

ZTE MyRing system can be connected with the BoSS (Business Operation Supporting System) system. It implements such operations as service subscription and desubscription, activation and deactivation, user number modification and modification of user value-added service attribute jointly with the accounting system. The interface between the MyRing system and the accounting system follows the related interface specification provided by ZTE, and this specification implements the interfacing message exchange in the MML mode of TCP-IP. ZTE MyRing system also supplies Web service/SOAP/XML or other protocol based interface, need to be customized.

7.2

Interface with Billing System

ZTE MyRing system can be connected with the billing center. The background server provides the CDR information, and collects it through FTP using the billing collector on a regular basis, and then transmitted to the billing center. The customized billing processing software can be easily developed according to the detailed description of

7.3

Interface with SP/CP

ZTE MyRing system can be connected with SP (Service Provider), to select and set the CRBT through the SP website. The CRBT platform is combined with SP through the Internet, and SP provides various voices and videos. Some benefit allocation should be done to SP. There are two ways of interfacing between ZTE MyRing and SP: SP Web Portol provided by ZTE MyRing system PDU interface provided by ZTE MyRing system

SP can exchange with the ZTE MyRing system in the above two modes, namely, upload ring tones/videos, query the ring tone/video information provided by SP ordered by users. If SP can meet the PDU interface provided by ZTE MyRing system, users can conduct such operations as CRBT service subscription, de-subscription, ring tone/video ordering through the WEB portol provided by SP.

7.4

Interface with Intelligent Network-SCP

If the CRBT service subscriber is of prepayment, the interface of the prepaid system is involved for subscribing/de-subscribing and activating/deactivating as well as deducting the fees of the prepaid subscribers. There are generally two forms of the interfaces between the ZTE MyRing system and the prepaid system: real-time deduction interface and non-realtime deduction interface. The realtime deduction interface means that the ZTE MyRing system needs to originate a request for real-time fee deduction to the prepaid system in real time when the prepaid subscriber subscribes the CRBT service or orders the ring tones, and the prepaid system returns the deduction result and the ZTE MyRing returns the service processing result to the subscriber in real time. This interface can take the form of the MML real-time interface based on TCP-IP between the ZTE MyRing system and the prepaid system. The non-realtime interface refers to rental interface, which means the ZTE MyRing system generates the subscriber CRBT service rent CDR, and the prepaid system obtains the CDR from the ZTE MyRing system through FTP and deducts the rent according to the CDR.

7.5

Interface with SMSC(Short Message Center)

ZTE MyRing system can be connected with the SMC or SM gateway, to implement the functions of the SMSs color ring management, such as service subscription/desubscription, ring tone ordering and setting of personal ring tone. It follows the SMPP (Short Message Peer to Peer) protocol or CIMD with the existing SMSC.
