A DEFENSE OF THE WRITERS CLAIM THAT JESUS IS THE MESSIAH

GOD has appointed the Son of God (Jesus) heir of all things.(Heb 1:2) These words are quoted from Psa 2:8 Ask of me and I will make the nations your Inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. The Inheritance of the Son of God comprises the earth, the whole universe and also the world to come ( Heb 2:5).

2. It was through Him that God made the universe.(Heb 1:2} In the New Testament John also wrote, Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. (John 1:3) Even Paul wrote, For by him all things were created things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisibleall things were created by him and for him. (Col 1:16) The psalmist wrote, In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.(Psalm 102:25) Also there are Old Testament passages in Prov 8:22ff that wisdom personified pertains to Christ. The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was Ap pointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world beganbefore he made the earth or its fields or any dust of the world I was there

3. He is the radiance of Gods glory (Heb 1:3) NIV He is the effulgence of Gods glory (KJV)

Effulgence (GK means apaugasma) means the radiance shining forth from the source of light. The Son reflects Gods own glory (NLT). The glory of God shows all that he has in his nature. Glory (GK doxa) in the New Testament refers to the nature and acts of God in self manifestation in the person of Christ. The Son is one with the Father in Godhood. I and my Father are one (John 10:30) Seei ng the Son is seeing the Father (john 14:9). Glory (Hebrew means tiperet) which means beauty; used of ones rank. Wisdom will present a crown of glory. (Prov 4:9 NASB). Again as wisdom is personified as Christ In Prov 8:22.

He is the exact representation of his being(Heb 1:3NIV). He is the very image of the substance of God. (KJV). (Col 1:15; 2 Cor 4:4) Substance (hupostasis Gk) means confidence, assurance of divine essence of God existent and expressed i n the revelation of His Son. He bears the very stamp of his nature (RSV) as a stamp on a coin or a seal.

He sustains all things by his powerful word.(Heb 1:3) The creative word makes everything into being. Powerful word may mean logos, the Personal Word(one of the Persons in the Godhead. Through him (logos) all things were made (John 1:3). Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth John 10:30 I and my Father are one

He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. (Heb 1:3). Quotation from: Psalm 110:1 The Lord says to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. (NIV) Jehovah saith unto my Lord (ARV)

David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit declared that David himself calls him (Son) as Lord Since the death and resurrection of Christ, it is claimed that He was the Messiah. 1 Cor 15:26-28 for he (Jesus) must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For he has put everythi ng under his feet. (Psalm 8:6)

And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, Let all Gods angels worship him. (Heb 1:6) quoted also from Deut 32:43 He is called the firstborn because he exists before all creation and because all creation is his heritage.

And when, again, he bringeth in the firstborn into the world shsin. (RSV) Psalm 97:7; Deutl 32:43) again marks this as to preeminence of Christ. All angels are invited to worship and only God is to be worshiped. 8. In speaking of the angels he says, He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. (Heb 1:7). This verse is quoted from Psalm 104:4 This statement pertains to the position or place of angels in the administration of their service to the Son thus showing the superiority of the Son over the angels.

Heb 6:13. I will surely bless you and give you many descendants. . Abraham received what was promised. (Gen 22:17) God swore an oath by Himself like what he said to Abraham. Gods oath is guaranteed by his two unchanging nature of purpose. It is I mpossible for God to lie and the oath by which his promise is confirmed. Abraham was not only known of his faith in the promise of God but he also plays an important role to the priesthood promise concerning Melchizedek. The hope of the promise as an anchor for our soul is the throne of God which is the inner sanctuary behind the wall where Jesus enter on our behalf. Jesus has become the high Priest forever in the order of Melchizedek. (Heb 6:19-20)

10.But about the Son he says, (HEB 1;8) quoted from Psalm 45:6,7 Your throne , o God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be scepter of your Kingdom. Psalm 45 is a wedding song of a descendant under the Davidic line. Christ is called as the son Of David (MK. 12:35) The Son is also called God whoise throne is forever.
