This revision (-R02) of the 44C746452-xxx cables corrects a wiring error. Pin 15 now connects to the shield in both halves of the cable and the connector at the Handy machine operators panel (HMOP) side.

Updates
The original version of 44C746452-xxx was designed for use with the Handy machine operators panel. The design utilizes a two-piece cable with a bulkhead connector for easy removal. The cable uses an overall shield to improve the noise immunity of the signal lines. The original design (R01) uses pin 5 in the bulkhead connector as a means of creating a continuous shield with both halves of the cable. This connection is incorrect; Pin 5 is used for the ESTOP circuit of the HMOP. For the shield to be an effective means of noise immunity, the jacket must be cut back inside the electrical cabinet and the shield clamped to ground. If this is done with the R01 cable design, the ESTOP signal will be pulled to ground and the equipment will be forced into an emergency stop condition. The failure is a safe condition and will be apparent during initial installation. If the shield is not tied to ground, no failure will be noticed and machine operation will occur. This wiring error is corrected in revision 2 of this cable (R02). Pin 15 replaces pin 5 in the cabling. Pin 15 now connects to the shield in both halves of the cable and the connector at the HMOP side. This corrects the issue with the ESTOP pin and provides better noise immunity at the HMOP connection. Wiring diagrams of the cables are provided on page 2.

Compatibility
The R01 and R02 cables are not compatible. If a 44C746452-xxx-R01 cable is replaced with an R02 version, the shield will not be continuous. During a cable replacement, it is recommended that both the external (-00xR01) and internal (-10xR01) cables be replaced at the same time with R02 versions. Alternately, if you are replacing an external cable and do not wish to replace the corresponding internal cable, you can disconnect the shield wire from pin 5 and reconnect it to pin 15 at the bulkhead connector. If the shield is not currently connected to the ground clamp, no action is required.
