Investigations of leaking power and accessory check valve assemblies, returned from service, have shown wear grooves on the stem which prevent valves from closing properly.

DESCRIPTION:

A new oil check valve assembly, P/N 6893667, is released to all Series I and II engines. The new check valve is the same as the superseded P/N 6886438 Check Valve except it has a new poppet stem. The stem is hardened to Rc 48-52 and coated with black oxide to alleviate wear on its OD from contact with the valve spring and/or guides.

Rework P/N 6886438 Check Valve Assemblies follows: A. B. C. D,

Remove P/N 6735927-62 Retaining Ring from valve body. Figure 1.)

Remove P/N 6858691 Poppet Assembly, two P/N 6824314 Poppet Guides, and P/N 6886437 Spring from valve body, Scrap removed P/N 6858691 Poppet Assembly. Reinstall new P/N 6893665 Poppet Assembly, two P/N 6824314 Poppet Guides, and P/N 6886437 Spring in valve body. Secure in valve body with P/N 6735927-62 Retaining Ring. rework check valve assembly as P/N 6893667 per AS478CL-M.

Record compliance with 250-Cl8 CEB-181, C20/C20B CEB-1083, B15G TP CEB-33, or Bl7,/B17B TP CEB-1057 in the Gearbox Assembly (yellow pages), Modification Record, Part III of the Engine Log Book.
