CHAPTER I Introduction Nowadays, it is much evident that vocation on the religious state is gradually degrading. Despite of the varying promotions on the religious life, both secular and religious the percentage on this vocation is continuously declining. Because of this situation, dioceses and religious institutions are greatly upset. It is a dilemma for them and even to the Catholic Church as a whole because this horrendously affects the ministry of this field of vocation. In relation with this current condition, the formation house where I am now is also experiencing such crisis. It much lacks young and eager individuals to respond and heed to the call of religious state. More surprising is that it undergoes absence of its own homeland vocations.

Statement of the Objective Thus, this field research intends to help determine particular factors why such crisis is

undergoing. It is a study which focuses within the scope of Letran fourth year high school male students with regards to their opinion on this vocation. In addition, this research also aims to identify the following instances: 1. What are the students insights about religious (priesthood) vocation? 2. How many students decide to enter the seminary? 3. What are the factors that affect the students decision on either accept or refuse to enter such vocation? 4. How can this crisis be overcome or gradually subside?
IIStatement of the Significance of the Study This research is important because this certain issue is not only experienced by few regions but also happens to many places. Though the range of the research is only limited, but the factors that will be acquired in the study will be of great help.

In having this paper also, the percentage of religious vocation can be approximated even just within the scope of Colegio de San Juan de Letran (preferably 4th year H.S. male students). In addition, information-giving and gathering will help a lot with regards to vocation awareness. This certain study will give a room for the students enlightenment with regards to religious state. Thus, this paper is not solely intended to a single way-process; instead, this allocates to a responsive way. Both the researcher and respondents are passing information that benefits them. To sum it up, this research is necessary because it search for core problems why vocation toward the said seminary is of absence. However, along the flow of the study, many aspects will also be touched such as the advantages amidst some negative factors of the study.

Data Gathering Method In having this field research, many possible approaches are quite appropriate to use. But to

maximize the time span, three particular methods are used in this paper. They are as follows: 1. First, a questionnaire is used to easily collect data among the respondents. This also gives adequate use of time for the research.

2. Second is to have an interview with a number of students to gain more knowledge in the
respondents varying insights.

3. Lastly is the use of the library and documents or records. In this method, references are needed
to supply and suffice the information gathered in the former approaches.
