2013 Peace and Cooperation School Award

Art as a Universal Language Creativity for Peace

Rules:

1. Free drawing (up to 6 year-olds). Art is generally understood as any activity or product made by human beings with either an aesthetic or communicative purpose through which it expresses the creator's view of the world. Share with other children what your view of the world is. 2. Drawing with written message (7 to 12 year-olds). Art is a component of culture. Culture or cultural heritage is defined as a group of shared attitudes, values, goals and practices that characterize an institution, an organization or a group through space and time. What are the elements that highlight your culture, both positive and negative? Draw them, and if you wish, you can use your language and write the most important ideas for you. 3. Mural or group work (12 to 15 year-olds). Through the expression of the arts we can understand the values and traditions of cultures other than our own. Knowledge is the first step and the basis for understanding cultural diversity. In a group (minimum of 2 people) you should show your ability to understand one another and create together. You are to create a mural which shows your ideas of how to live together even when individual values and traditions may oppose each other. 4. Free art (16 to 18 year-olds). We can not talk about art without mentioning the artist; the artist is an individual who has developed his/her creativity and ability to communicate in a way that evokes feelings in those who admire the work. In this sense, the artist does not understand language, race or religion but seeks to awaken universal feelings. The people of the world need to be encouraged to get to know each other better in order to avoid falling into negative stereotypes or prejudices that hinder peaceful coexistence. How? A picture is worth a thousand words. It can be a photograph, photomontage, a photographic composition, a photograph of a sculpture 5. School of Fine Arts and Artisans. Now you are the artist! Using your own style, your own originality, we invite you to create a unique piece of work which will emphasize the universality of art as a language. The winning piece of work will be used as our poster for international competitions organized by the foundation. 6. The teachers are also included. They are entrusted with the task of organizing the festival which commemorates May 21st that celebrates the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development under Resolution A/RES/57/249. Send us your photos of the big party.

7. Universal Exhibition of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue. Let's focus on the communicative purpose of art through which to express ideas and emotions. We've created a Facebook group aimed at promoting intercultural dialogue through the universal language of art. Join this group and share your work (drawing, photography, montage, sculpture, etc..). We want everyone to think that their creativity can contribute towards a better world. 8. Multimedia. The United Nations has a radio station that can be heard all over the world from their website.
