USJR ACCOUNTANCY WEEK S.Y. 2012-2013 REACTION PAPER

The accountancy week of school year 2012-2013 in the University of San JoseRecoletos was just like any other normal week of the year, except that we, students in the accountancy department, were very busy. It is that one week that we get to explore our other TALENTS and CAPABILITIES that would not have been discovered if we only stayed within the four walls of the classroom. It is that one week that we become so excited. Among the main highlights of the week were the Ambassador of Goodwill (AOG), So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD), Glee Project, Quiz bowls, Dance Spa, the Barrio Fiesta, and many more. These activities were organized by the Central Body Officers of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants USJR Chapter. Although I am not a really active member of JPIA, I enjoyed a lot of the said activities. I bought the ticket worth PHP 60.00 which included two AOG tickets and one SYTYCD ticket. I failed to watch the So You Think You Can Dance because I was finishing something important. But I watched the two shows of AOG. It was obvious that the AOG Contestants of the Crusaders had the winning edge among the contestants from the very beginning. They are so lucky to be blessed not only with good looks, but also with sharp wits. Even with such advantage, we never stopped supporting our contestants because we believe in them. No matter what the results were, we are still proud of them. Stepping on that stage and accepting the challenges of being a contestant of AOG is enough proof of their worth. In the Quiz bowls, I have a friend who was one of the contestants. He, together with his teammates came out in Second Place. The Quiz bowl is a perfect place to review details of our previous accounting subjects. It was fun and educational at the same time. I had quite some fun watching the Glee Project, especially the witty and artistic creation of Division four, also their lead actress was my schoolmate back in high school, who, if I may say so myself, is a very talented young lass. They got first place which they totally deserve. While we got third, which I believe, was what we also deserve.

Then the Barrio Fiesta came, I was late because I slept late that night helping my dorm mates prepare for the said activity. Come to think of it, I helped my dorm mates, who where members of Division four, but I scarcely ever helped my own Division. Crazy me? How could that be my fault, they never asked for my help. I dont want to be called the pa-hero type and disturb them if they dont want any of my help. Anyways, our booth managed to put-up an X-Box play station which can be played at PHP 10 per head. I dont know what got into me, maybe I was just feeling guilty for helping other divisions instead of my own, but I took the shift of watching over the X-Box Booth without anyone asking me to. It was quite tiring, especially because the controls of the play station was not cooperating really good, but I also had my share of fun, watching people with their hilarious dance moves, not to mention I was able to play for free. After hours of crazy dancing, the results of the overall scores of the completion were finally announced. Division four got the first place, as expected. Division two overthrew us and got the second place. It was a bit disappointing, but it was what we deserve. We got third place and Division one, fourth place. They said that we were defeated because of lack of cooperation and unity. I heard someone even said that we will make history by being the first division four to be ranked third, or worse, fourth. Well, we shall see. What will be, will be. One thing is for sure, we are not dumb people, we are like any other group or organization, we also commit mistakes because we are not perfect, but the thing is, we learn from them. That being said, everyone should bear in mind that all those were just a game, a friendly competition. It is just one of our breathing areas outside the stressful world of accounting. We should all enjoy the moment while it last because that week only happens once a year. Dont let bad vibes destroy happy memories. Let the spirit of friendship and sportsmanship rule.
