OpportunitiesForImprovement
Advising & Governance:
Addresses opportunities for improvement regarding the Alumni Board of Trustees, BB Involvement, Faculty Advisor, by-laws, judicial board, and business meetings.

Action Item: Enforcement of by-laws by judicial board Resources Needed: Radford Chapter Bylaws, Judicial Handbook Who is Involved: F, Executive Board, Faculty Advisor, and ABT Deadline: April 15th, 2012 How: We need to assess what our by-laws say and how we enforce them. I strongly suggest the Chapter begins using its judicial board and judicial processes to begin holding members accountable. Delta Chis Judicial Handbook should be in the Fs officer notebook, if not it can be downloaded from the website. The by-laws and the judicial handbook are the basis of the accountability of the fraternity. Without it we struggle to find existence. The period ahead could be a time of growth by shrinking. In order to remain academically and operationally solvent we need to assess if the behavior of our members is congruent with the goals of the organization. Members that are not contributing to the chapter financially or academically need to be addressed by the leadership.

Fall 2011

Involvement:
Addresses opportunities for improvement regarding campus involvement & leadership, philanthropy participation, community service initiatives, campus relations, and intramural participation.

Action Item: Raise the standard for membership involvement Resources Needed: Office of Student activities Who is Involved: B, Campus Involvement Chair, and RU Involved Deadline: May 1st, 2012 How: There is no debate, members involved in other organizations actually provide a more positive impact than those who are not. Studies have shown People who are more involved as student leaders have higher GPAs, graduation rates and end up more successful after graduation. A resume is like a stock portfolio; the most successful ones are diverse and well rounded. If all you have are Delta Chi experiences you will have a hard time in the real world. Getting members involved on campus is a great thing for the chapter too! It allows members to build new relationships, and foster skills that arent obtained in the classroom. It also allows members to meet and recruit men that wouldnt normally attend formal recruitment. Being an active member of Delta Chi is great; being involved in other organizations on campus is better; being a member of organizations on campus to better Delta Chi and ultimately, yourselves, is best. Heres how we can do it: Have the Campus involvement chair get a list of ALL student organizations on campus Encourage members to take their resume to the career center on campus to learn about how to sell their existing involvement or what kind of involvement should be added to make it more well rounded.

Member Education:
Addresses opportunities for improvement regarding educational aspects of the Associate Member program, GreekLifeEDU, risk management education, and on-going education (RLCs, Convention, As Academy, UIFI, etc)

Action Item: Complete GreekLifeEDU to earn $15 credit per member

Fall 2011

Resources Needed: www.greeklifeedu.com , www.outsidetheclassroom.com , HUB Login (see below) Who is Involved: all members, overseen by the A, D, F and/or AMC Deadline: 5/1/2012 How: This year, your chapter/colony may earn a $15 credit for each member who completes GreekLifeEDU. Any student member, except inactive student members, of your organization may complete the program between now and May 1, 2012. Even if theyve completed the program in a previous term, that member may re-take GreekLifeEDU. To take GreekLifeEDU, student members should visit www.greeklifeedu.com and create an account using the login ID 11GDeltaChi. While creating account, be sure to register with the correct college or University in order to receive credit. Student members must complete at least part one of the program to receive credit, which generally takes about two hours. To check on the progress of your members as they complete the program, visit www.outsidetheclassroom.com and access the HUB. There youll be able to see all members of your chapter/colony whove signed up for an account, as well as monitor their progress through the program. Here is the login information youll need to access the HUB: Login: 141DeltaChi Password: Simple Your A and BB will be contacted throughout the year with updates and additional information about the program. In May, youll receive a final report detailing how many members we recorded completing the program. The reimbursement will come in the form of a statement credit on your account with Delta Chi HQ. It is your choice to either use the credit in an upcoming terms budget or to re-distribute credits to individual members. Because we anticipate a high participation rate for this program, we will not be able to issue checks to individual members. If you have questions about the program, please contact Michael Dean (michaeld@deltachi.org or 314-246-0867).

Scholarship:
Addresses opportunities for improvement regarding scholarship programming, by-laws enforcement, and academic performance.

Fall 2011

Action Item: Raise Scholarship Standard Resources Needed: Scholarship BRIEF, Radford Greek grade Report, Chapter Bylaws Who is Involved: Faculty Advisor, Scholarship Chairman, Judicial Board, and Greek Advisor Deadline: August 15th, 2012 How: Establish where does the chapter want to be? Is it a 3.0? Is it best Fraternity GPA? Best Greek organization? Whatever the chapter decides as a goal. Steps need to be taken to raise it. Part of that scholarship program is to raise the required GPA. It is my current understanding that the minimum standard to remain active is a 2.0; why is the GPA requirement to remain a brother lower that it is to become a brother? (Delta Chi Law requires a 2.25 to be initiated). I will commend you on recruiting an outstanding AM class; their scholastic achievements should set the bar for the rest of the chapter. We can help our brothers who are struggling by working with Dr. Burke, to become more aware of the resources that are available to the men.
