DescriptionofProgramme
TheMastersprogrammeindesignisatwoyeardesigneducationonartisticbasiswith designasthemainfieldofstudy.Theaimoftheprogrammeisthatthestudentsshallbe wellqualifiedforworkwithinthedesignfield.Duringtheeducationthestudentscreate knowledgeofhowtocreatearticulateddesignproposalsonahighartisticlevelwith deepenedknowledgeregardingapproachesandmethods,whichmakesthestudentwell preparedforworkwithdifferentkindsofdesignprocesses. Animportantpartisthedevelopmentoftheoreticalknowledgeforanalysisand reflectionofdesigninrelationtopeopleandsociety.Oneotherimportantpartofthe educationisthatthestudentparticipatesinlargercomplexdesignprojectswithseveral differentstakeholdersinvolved. Sincesomecoursesareelectivethereisanopportunitytoprofileoneseducation.The firstsemesterallstudentsparticipateinthecourses,whilethereisapossibilitytochoose betweencoursesthesecondandthirdsemester.Thefourthandlastsemesterall studentsconductanindividualdegreeproject.

Content
Organization Theprogrammehasapersonwhoisresponsibleforthecoordinationoftheprogramme. Thispersonmaintainsitslevelofqualityandisresponsibleforallissuesfromindividual contactswiththestudentstodevelopmentofthecoursesandprogramme. Aprogrammecommitteethatconsistsofrepresentativesforthestudentsandteachers meet23timespersemesterinordertoworkwithissuesofqualityanddevelopmentof theprogramme. Theteacherresponsibleforrespectivecourseisalsoresponsibleforconductinga courseevaluationattheendofthecourse,andthattheresultfromthiswillbe communicatedtothestudentsthroughtheprogrammecommitee. ProgrammeOverview Brieflytheprogrammeisorganisedthefollowingway: Duringthefirstsemesterthestudenthasfocusondevelopingacriticalandanalytical approach.Thestudentdevelopsthecapacitytoreflect,understandandarticulatecurrent situations.Thestudentcreatesknowledgeandexperiencemostlybyworkingwith artefactsandsituationsthatareavailable. Thesecondsemesterhasfocusoncreatingandarticulatingdesignproposals.Herethe studentcreatesadvancedknowledgeaboutandexperienceofdifferentmethodsby workingfromdifferentpositions,approachesandcontexts. Duringthethirdsemesterthestudentconductsdesignworkinordertocreateproposals withanemphasisonwholenessandcomplexity.Thestudentsshouldspecializewith respecttoe.g.material,approachorcontextthrougheligiblecourses.Therebythe studentcancreateanindividuallychosenprofilation. Thissemestercanalsobeusedforstudiesabroad. ScopeofProgramme Aspectsofequalityofopportunity,sex,crosssexualidentityorexpression,ethnicality, religionorotherbelief,disability,sexualdispositionandagearefundamentalintwoways intheeducation.Itiscentralthatstudentshaveequalvalueandshallbeabletowork underthesamefundamentalconditions.Equalityisaquestionofjusticeandworkis focussedagainstthefactorsandcharacteristicsthatcanputanindividualina disadvantageouspositioninrelationtothecollective.Butitisequallyimportantthat theseperspectivesalwaysarepresentindesignprocessesinordertoensurethatfuture artefactssupportthiswayoflookingatequality. Designworkisanimportantdrivingforceinsocietyanditisourgoalthatthestudents conductdesignprocessesbasedonpeople'sparticipation,knowledgeandunderstanding which,combinedwiththeabilitytocriticallyexaminethepossibilitiesandlimitations,are aimedatthecreationofartefactsthatsupportanequalandsustainablesociety. Inordertobeabletoconductdesignworkonanadvancedlevelitisimportanttohave knowledgeregardinginternationaldesignfields.Thisiscreatedduringtheprojectwork, theoreticalstudiesandtheseminarseries.Theinternationalperspectiveisalso strengthenedsincestudentsfromseveralcountriesparticipateintheeducation. StudentsthathavecompletedtheMasterprogramme(TwoYears)indesignin accordancewiththequalitativetargetscanapplyforandacquirethefollowingdegree certificate: MasterofArts(TwoYears) (Mainfieldofstudy:Design) Thedegreecertificateisbilingual(Swedish/English).TogetherwithitfollowsaDiploma Supplement(English).

Inordertofacilitateandvisualisethestudentsownprogressthroughtheworkbook methodorequivalentisusedasapedagogicalinstrumentduringthewholeprogramme. Themethodshavefocusonreflectionduringthelearningprocess,whichmeansThis meansthatthestudentcontinuouslyformulatesandconductsherorhisownprogression withthesupportoftutors.Fivedifferentkeyaspectsareused:production,perception, reflection,wayofworkingandcomplexity. Thestudentshouldcalculatewithacostformaterial,andexpensesforstudytravelsand travelsbetweencampus.
