Green designs some examples

Significant fuel savings Dual-Fuel/ Gas applications
Worlds first LNG powered PSV in successful operations since 2003.

2500 dwt 12 knots Fuel consumption reduced from 26 to 16 tons / 24 h

Fuel cell technology

Flexible fuel (e.g. methanol or LNG) Approx. 30% higher efficiency than diesel engine Extremely low emissions First installation on OSV in operation (350 kW)

1500 dwt 12 knots Fuel consumption reduced from 13 to 7 tons / 24 h

Dual-Fuel The Preferred Ship Solution

Redundancy, backup without interruptions in power or speed. Able to operate on liquid fuel outside ECA-areas Simple system, no additional back up or double gas system needed. DP class fulfilled with single tank/gas supply system Operational flexibility - Vessel re-routing possible, gas supply not a limitation

Environmental Regularity Number (ERN)

A method developed by DNV to rate a vessels station keeping capability during Dynamic Positioning Consist of four numbers ranging the probable regularity for keeping position in a defined area Format : ERN (a,b,c,d)
a: Optimal use of all thrusters b: Minimum effect of a single thruster failure c: Maximum effect of a single thruster failure d: The effect of the worst case single failure

Highest possible ERN rating: (99,99,99,99)

Summary

Detailed information about the vessel operation is crucial for green vessel designs meeting demanding operational requirements Use of LNG/Dual Fuel engines will in addition to the reduced emissions, give operational benefits with the inherent redundancy The Wrtsil Low Loss Concept makes it possible to meet the highest ERN rating without increasing installed engine/thruster power:
Significant cost, space and weight savings for the machinery and propulsion system Reduced fuel consumption due to reduced electric losses and better engine utilisation
