THE BYLAWS Of LICKING COUNTY RETIRED TEACHERS ASSOCIATION ARTICLE I Name and Purpose Section 1.

. The name of this organization shall be The Licking County Retired Teachers Association. Section 2. The purpose of the LCRTA shall be to promote fellowship and economic and professional welfare of the retired teachers of Licking County; and to sponsor and support legislation intended to contribute to their well-being locally, statewide and nationally. ARTICLE II Membership Section 1. All teachers and administrators retired from the public schools, state and municipal colleges and universities of Ohio and their beneficiaries who receive retirement allowances from The State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio may become members. Any teachers retired in any other state, but living in Ohio shall be eligible for active membership. Section 2. Other persons in Licking County favorably interested in retired teacher problems and well-being and in public education may become Associate Members by paying the regular membership dues. They may have the same privileges as active members except the rights to vote and hold office. Section 3. Any member who has been active in the Association and becomes permanently confined to the home or an extended-care facility shall be designated an Honorary Member and shall not be required to pay dues. Any member who has reached the age of 85 and has been a member in good standing, shall be designated an Honorary Member and shall not be required to pay local dues. ARTICLE III Dues Section 1. Dues for 2000 and thereafter shall be determined by the Executive Board and voted on by the membership. ARTICLE IV Officers Section 1. The officers of the Association shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Section 2. The officers shall be elected in even years. Section 3. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association and of the Board, carry out instructions of the Association and of the Board and perform all the duties which usually pertain to this office. Section 4. The Vice President shall preside in the absence of the President and shall serve as chair of the Program Committee. The Committee consists of the Executive

Board. Section 5. The Secretary shall take accurate notes of whatever business comes before the association and from these notes prepare minutes which are the official records for the proceedings of the organization.

Section 6. The Treasurer shall receive and deposit all money belonging to the Association and disburse the same. ARTICLE V Election of Officers Section 1. In April of the second year of the biennium, the president shall appoint a Nominating Committee. Section 2. It shall be the duty of the Nominating Committee to secure a slate of officers for Association and present it at the August meeting. Section 3. Officers shall be elected at the October meeting. Section 4. Officers shall be installed at the December meeting. ARTICLE VI Executive Board Section 1. The Executive Board shall consist of the current officers of the Association, chairs of the Standing Committees, and LCRTA Trustee on the Board of ORTA. Section 2. The Standing Committees (As outlined by ORTA) Community Services Informative and Protective Services Membership Legislative Public Relations Pre-retirement Planning Section 3. The LCRTA Committees are: AuditingDoes and annual check of the Treasurers records MemoriamKeeps the list of members deaths, sends sympathy cards and conducts a memorial service at the December meeting Luncheon ReservationsMaintains luncheon list and sends out notices of the luncheons by card or email Luncheon Treasurercollects money at luncheons Scholarship Committeecontacts school counselor to get name(s) of student(s) who qualify for the LCRTA scholarship; works with Licking County Foundation in selection of the Letha Headlee scholarship winner Socialconfirms arrangements at luncheon sites

ARTICLE VII - Scholarships Section 1. The Licking County Retired Teachers Association may award one or more

scholarships to graduating seniors from any of the high schools in Licking County. Section 2. The amount of the scholarship will be determined annually. Section 3. Scholarship recipients will be chosen by the high school counselor and must be pursuing a degree in education. Section 4. Recipients and guests will be invited to the June LCRTA luncheon meeting.

ARTICLE VIII Meetings Section 1. There shall be six meetings a year. Section 2. These meetings shall be held on the second Wednesday of the following months: February, April, June, August, October, December. ARTICLE IX Amendments Section 1. These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of members present at any regular meeting. ARTICLE X Dissolution Section 1. In the case of dissolution of the organization, it will place all assets into the Licking County Foundation Trust Fund to be used for college scholarships.
