If you are a believer, married, have children, or not and have pulse, chances are you have
a dream or two spinning around inside you looking for traction. Are you committed to
turning your dreams into realities or are you just interested? The difference is this; if you
are merely interested, you do it when its convenient. If you are committed; you make no
excuses. This is the first proverbial fork in the road in this process. Intentionally or not,
you will always take one of these forks. Which one will it be?
Dreams presume exciting possibilities; they anticipate that the best of life is not past, but
still ahead. Are you aware that old age sets in when your memories are more vivid than
your dreams?
You are about to experience a synthesized version of a dream development process my
wife and I went through one weekend in an old waterfront cottage in Coupeville on
Whidbey Island in Washington State. Our heavenly Father has given me dreams for my
marriage, my family, my career, my kingdom calling and my desires. He has also done
the same for my wife. I am confident He wants to do the same for you. As I look back at
what I penned that Mothers Day weekend in 2005, I can only conclude that God is as
interested in my dreams as I am. God has enabled many of them to come to fruition while
others are still unfolding. In addition, He has been faithful in providing me with even
more dreams and visions for the future.
I believe that if we are faithful with what God has entrusted to us, He delights in giving
us the desires of our heart. After all, He implanted those desires there before Adam
realized he was naked and missing a rib.
There are two parts to dreaming when you involve God. The first is faithful, God
honoring stewardship of our time, talents and treasures. Why would God want to bless us
with the desires of our heart if we squander what he has already given us? Would you
want to bless your children if they had a self serving attitude of entitlement? If so, stop
right now and get some solid Christian counseling before you read another sentence. If
you subscribe to the latter, read on! As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Amen!

Timing is everything; in life and in dreams. For example, if you wanted to sail around the
world on a 40 sloop with kids in pre-school well, you would probably be single again,
right? The Dream Timeline will help you place your dreams in realistic future slots and
identify what needs to pass for those dreams to become reality.
Family responsibilities, career goals, financial constraints or other demands may be
current barriers that time alone may solve as you maturely manage your time talents and
treasures. Priority management is a major component in maintaining dream viability.
Chip away at the obstacles a little at a time and they fervently diminish. The best time to
plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today! Even small investments
in dreams can, over time, pay huge dividends. Invest now!
The following worksheets will divide your dreams into two categories:
1. Those dreams which require change brought about by future transitions to become
viable to pursue.

2. Those dreams which, with a plan and components in place, can be implemented
right away.

Dreams bring vitality to today with visions of hopeful future experiences.

Dont let your dreams get smothered by worry and things you cannot control. Keep them
alive in your mind, on paper, in conversation with your spouse, your family, your friends,
with God. Like a game of chess, sometimes you have to move a lot of things around
before you can execute a strategic move to bring about a victory. Conscious effort and
patience are success factors required to make dreams a reality.

Dreams can be solo in pursuit, but there is synergy if you are a Christian with a Christian
spouse partnering up for your dream journeys. As stated in Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are
better than one, because they have a good return for their work: God knows we have a

Dream Planning
Now that you have identified, named and qualified your dreams with your life mate and
your God, its time apply some strategy. This is where you plot your course, identify
obstacles, set a target date and a midway point to evaluate the progress.
You will need four Dream Planning worksheets for this next exercise.
The ideal setting for this stage if for you and your spouse to bring your Dream Partners
sheets and link them up in the Personal, Family, Professional & Kingdom realms.
The following sheet will get you halfway to each dream. At that point or sooner, you will
on a fresh sheet, plot out your dream to its target date. Why this way? Because life

happens while were making plans! The second half will be clearer once you are on your
way.
Even well thought out plans require adjustments that enable you to continue on the path
to achievement. As you stay close to God and each other, dont be surprised if your
dreams build and are better than what you originally thought. Thats how God works, as
we trust him each step of the way, he reveals Himself to us more and the abundant life
Jesus promised becomes a reality. Put your faith in Him and align your plans with His
and hold on tight!

true first and you will have the marriage of your dreams.
