WARNING! READ ME FIRST! WARNING! READ ME FIRST! On 05-06 harnesses, do not, under any circumstances, connect 12V to the Yellow/Red wire (VCC1) that goes into the harness. VCC1 is a 5V source provided by the ECU to the VSS, MAP, and TPS sensors. There is no internal protection circuit in the ECU that prevents back feeding voltage on this line. Connecting 12V to this wire, even momentarily, will render your ECU inoperable. If you run into something that you do not understand please create a support ticket at support.hybrid-racing.com or send an email to support@hybridracing.com.

Step 1: The first step is to determine what engine harness and speed sensor
connector you plan on running. So right now figure out what engine harness you have, what speed sensor connector you plan on using and what ECU you are going to be using. If you have both the 02-04 speed sensor connector and the 05-06 connector we recommend that you use the 05-06 connector. Option 1 go to page 3: 02-04 engine harness and 05-06 speed sensor connector (most common and we recommend) and 02-04 ECU/KPRO Option 2 go to page 4: 02-04 engine harness with 02-04 speed sensor connector (requires modification to connector) and 02-04 ECU/KPRO Option 3 go to page 5: 05-06 engine harness and 05-06 speed sensor connector with 02-04 ECU/KPRO. Option 4 go to page 6: 05-06 engine harness and 05-06 speed sensor connector with 05-06 ECU. REQUIRES MORE INDEPTH WIRING THAT IS NOT COVERED IN THIS GUIDE FULLY.

OPTION 1: INSTRUCTIONS FOR 02-04 ENGINE HARNESS & 05-06 CONNECTOR

This set of instructions should be used if you are using an 02-04 engine harness and an 05-06 speed sensor connector ONLY and 02-04 ECU/KPRO Step 2: Start by removing the pins from your 02-04 speed sensor connector. Set the connector aside in the event that you need it again. You should also have your 05-06 connector handy. Make sure it still has about 1-2 of wire coming out for you to work with and make sure that the wire colors match the large diagram below. Step 3: Once you have the 05-06 connector and 02-04 wire harness go ahead and make the connections as outlined in the large diagram below. You have the option of using the supplied butt connectors or you can solder the wires. We recommend that you solder and heat shrink the wires. Step 4: Once you have completed all of the wiring secure the converter with a zip tie until you are finished with step 6. Step 5: To calibrate the unit grab a portable GPS unit and take your car for a drive up to 60mph and note the difference between your GPS MPH and your GAUGE CLUSTER MPH. Hop out of the car, pop your hood and remove the small black plug on the back of the converter. Using a small flat head adjust the converter clockwise. For each click the converter will adjust by 5mph. Make small adjustments and keep comparing it to your GPS until you get it dialed in. Step 6: Once its all dialed in make sure the speed converter is mounted securely with the provided ZIP TIE.

OPTION 2: INSTRUCTIONS FOR 02-04 ENGINE HARNESS & 02-04 CONNECTOR

This set of instructions should be used if you are using an 02-04 engine harness and an 02-04 speed sensor connector ONLY. Step 2: Start by cutting your speed sensor connector off of your engine harness. Your going to want to cut the wires about 1-1.5 down from the connector to leave plenty of room to reconnect them. Now set your engine harness aside while we work on the connector in step 3. Step 3: The next step involves making small slits on the connector with a dremel tool to allow it to fit properly on the 05-06 speed sensor. Once you have created these slits and the 02-04 connector fits snugly go ahead and move to step 4. Step 4: Once you have the 02-04 connector and 02-04 wire harness ready go ahead and make the connections as outlined in the large diagram below. You have the option of using the supplied butt connectors or you can solder the wires. We recommend that you solder and heat shrink the wires. Step 5: Once you have completed all of the wiring secure the converter with a zip tie until you are finished with step 6. Step 6: To calibrate the unit grab a portable GPS unit and take your car for a drive up to 60mph and note the difference between your GPS MPH and your GAUGE CLUSTER MPH. Hop out of the car, pop your hood and remove the small black plug on the back of the converter. Using a small flat head adjust the converter clockwise. For each click the converter will adjust by 5mph. Make small adjustments and keep comparing it to your GPS until you get it dialed in. Step 7: Once its all dialed in make sure the speed converter is mounted securely with the provided ZIP TIE.

OPTION 3: INSTRUCTIONS FOR 05-06 ENGINE HARNESS & 05-06 CONNECTOR W/ O2-04 ECU

TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS My speedometer is not reading ? What do I do? First things first go over all of the wiring and make sure that it matches EXACTLY to the schematics for your setup. DOUBLE CHECK all of your components to make sure that they match your wiring guide. So if you have an 02-04 engine harness 05-06 connector make sure you are using that schematic. After you have triple checked your wiring with no luck. Put the car on jack stands and using a voltmeter check the following at the wires coming out of the HR speed converter.

RED wire should have 12v if you are running an 02-04 ECU and 5v if you are running an 05-06 ECU. BLACK wire should have continuity to GROUND BLUE wire should switch 50x faster than the white wire. The blue wire should pulse between 0-5v constantly while you spin the tire. This is the output from the speed sensor. WHITE wire should switch from 0-5v approximately 4 times per revolution of the tire. This is the output of the converter to the ECU/Speedometer.

If you do not get these readings double check your wiring one more time and then send an email with what you have found to support@hybrid-racing.com or create a support ticket at support.hybrid-racing.com and we can help you out! Below we have provided the OEM speed connector pin outs for your reference.
