1. Develop an inventory model for managing the deskjet printers in Europe, assuming that the Vancouver plant continuous to produce the six model sold in Europe, apply your model and calculate the expected yearly investment in deskjet printer in inventory in the Europe DC

We calculate the annual demand by adding all inventories in each month. And then we also calculate the

average demand and sigma in order to find average monthly demand. Base on the picture above we divided the monthly demand into daily demand and it becomes a baseline for us to find inventory level by using trial and error for review period.

We also need to find safety stock in P model to find inventory level by using trial and error for review period.

In our trial and error we used the r from 25 until 33. 2. Compare your result from question 1 to the current policy of carrying one months average inventory at the DC.

Based on two pictures above we compare the inventory level by trial and error and one month average inventory. Our conclusion is we can fulfill the demand if our r is higher than 32 in system A.

3. Evaluate the idea of supplying generic printers to the Europe DC and integrating the product by packaging the power supply and the instruction manual at the DC just prior to delivery ro the European resellers. Focus on the impact on DC inventory investment in this analysis. To reduce lead time and reduce mistakes on ordering. 4. What is your recommendation to HP? It is important to have inventory because of the uncertainty of suppliers and other things so we suggest that the company use their review period greater than 32, so that their inventory level can reach a balance for investment in inventory and to reach service level.
