MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR No. 001, Series 2012 TO: THE TEACHING STAFF, SPG,YES-0,CLASSROOM OFFICERS AND OTHER CLUBS This School FROM: THE PRINCIPAL SUBJECT: SCHOOL POLICY ON ECOLOGICAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DATE: January 6, 2012 ___________________________________________________________________________ Pursuant to Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, this school, hereby adopts implements and institutionalize proper waste management system with the following functional elements:
I. WASTE SEGREGATION

Every classroom is required to have their own trash cans/bins which is properly coded according to the type of waste like compostable, recyclable, residual and special/toxic waste. BIODEGRADABLE(Green) - includes fruit peelings, food leftover, vegetable trimmings, grasses, leaves, wet paper, egg shells, farm animal manure and other decomposable materials. If waste materials are meat and fish by-products, garbage receptacles should be covered to avoid the attraction of flies and other scavengers. RECYCLABLES (Blue) This includes empty aluminum cans, plastic containers, caps of reusable bottles, bottles disposable plastic cups, spoons, forks and other recyclable materials. Plastic straws, tetra packs plastic wrappers may also be recycled.

TOXIC AND HAZARDOUS (Red)- includes battery, spray canisters, thinner, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs, insecticide, pentel pens, used lubricants and other hazardous chemicals and containers. II. STORAGE Wastes generated must be properly stored in the designated storage/waste bins placed outside every classroom. COLLECTION AND PROCESSING The cleaners of the day in every classroom after class hours must bring their segregated waste in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) The compostable wastes must be brought to the compost pits of the school. Recyclables will be stored in the MRF for processing by the EPP teacher and MSEP Teachers as pupils project and other excess waste will be bought by ambulant buyers. The money generated from recyclables will be used by YES-O and SPG projects. Residual Wastes such as broken glasses and bottles will be brought and piled to the waste vault beside the MRF of the school. Other residuals like wrappers will be used for making curtains, bags, petals and others. Special Wastes such as incandescent bulbs and fluorescent tube will be disposed in the waste vault/ box designated for it. IV. REGULAR DISPOSAL Pupils in each room under the supervision of the class adviser will be required to empty their waste into the bins provided outside the classroom. This will be done by the pupils who are assigned to clean the room at the end of class hours. Since classrooms put their waste in the bins outside the rooms, at the end of the class hours, it is expected that the pupils assigned/cleaners of the day will bring the segregated waste to the MRF.

FINES AND PENALTIES 1. anybody who violates this policy will be fined and penalized as follows: First OffensePhP 5.00 Second Offense PhP 25.00 Third Offense and subsequent Offenses PhP 50.00 fine plus bring 10 empty bottles and one hour community work. 2. All fees shall be paid directly to the Treasurer of the SPG.

This order takes effect immediately upon receipt hereof. For dissemination and strict compliance.
