Product Information

Kao-Tex 1000 textile products are made from a highly textured form of silica and are coated on one side with a proprietary treatment. They are especially designed and developed for temperatures up to 1000F (538C). Kao-Tex 1000 textile products have properties which include excellent tensile strength, outstanding abrasion resistance and low thermal conductivity. The cloth has excellent seam strength for sewing and handling which is required for the fabrication of items such as gloves and mittens. The rope is available in two different constructions twisted and braided. Kao-Tex 1000 textile products have improved performance over asbestos textiles in five main areas: softer hand and feel, better thermal insulating properties than asbestos material of the same weight, better dimensional stability, abrasion resistance, and strength. These advantages result from the interaction of three factors: the use of highly textured yarn, the density of the weave, and the coated surface treatment.
Chemical Properties Kao-Tex 1000 textile products possess excellent resistance to chemical attack. Exceptions include hydrofluoric and corrosive elements at elevated temperatures. Kao-Tex 1000 textiles accept a variety of treatments to suit specific applications. Kao-Tex 1000 textiles can be coated with S.B.R., N.B.R., Hypalon*, Viton* and Teflon*.
