Connecting community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.
We believe that every child needs and deserves the Five Basics: 1. A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult 2. A safe place to learn and grow 3. A healthy start and healthy future 4. A marketable skill to use upon graduation 5. A chance to give back to peers and their community. CIS school-based programs are designed to provide students with at least one of these REAL basics.

We were afforded the opportunity to complete service hours during the University of Delaware/ Maine football game.

Thank you Mr. Baker for allowing us to contribute!

College Night at Fraim Boys and Girls club was a huge success!
Our students had the opportunity to talk to representatives from Wesley College, Goldey Beacom, College, Wilmington College and Delaware Technical and Community College. Fraim also provided dinner for guest in their newly renovated Teen Center.

Thank you Ms. Gee for allowing the C.I.S Team to contribute to this years Homecoming Dance. We had a lot of fun.

Site Director Ronnell Page and Community Volunteer Bianca Page held down the complementary concession stand during the JDHS Homecoming. Students were amazed when they found out everything was FREE!
Mr. Page prepares his Famous Pink Flamingo Smoothie as a crowd of students stand around and watch.

CIS is looking for Volunteers: YOU can make a difference!!

Yes, you have something valuable to contribute to a CIS student at John Dickinson High School! Paying it forward only takes a little bit of your time, but yields longlasting and positive results. Our current needs include opportunities such as: Lunch Mentors- Eating lunch once a week with a student and sharing positive thoughts and ideas can make a huge difference. Lunches are in 30 minute segments. We have three lunch times available at Dickinson. First- 10:45-11:15; Freshman Lunch- 11:30-12:00; Third- 12:20-12:50. Homework Helper- Many students just need a little one-on-one attention to get them to the next level. Students will benefit from your help by students either completing homework and/or class assignments. You can work with students one-on-one or in small groups. Homework helpers are primarily needed on B-Days after school from 2:30 to 4:15pm. Please contact me for info regarding our A, B scheduling. Career Speakers- Please come and share your professional and personal story of becoming a successful business owner, computer specialist or scientist. Many times success may seem like a distant dream instead of an attainable reality. Sharing your journey helps put things into perspective for our students. Please contact me to schedule a time to speak to our class.
