Getting Started with the LabWindows/CVI Evaluation

Getting Started with LabWindows/CVI manual Minimum System Requirements To run LabWindows/CVI, you must have the following items: Personal computer using a Pentium 4/M or equivalent microprocessor Microsoft operating systems: Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), including Starter Edition Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (32-bit and 64-bit) Windows XP Service Pack 3 Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (64-bit) Windows Server 2003 R2 Service Pack 2 (32-bit) Note LabWindows/CVI supports only R2 editions of Windows Server. 1024 768 resolution (or higher) video adapter Minimum of 256 MB of RAM, 1 GB recommended 1.4 GB free hard disk space for full installation Microsoft-compatible mouse Installation Instructions Complete the following steps to the install LabWindows/CVI Evaluation Package: 1. Download the LabWindows/CVI Evaluation Package from ni.com and follow the onscreen directions to unzip the files. 2. After you unzip the files, the installation begins automatically and the National Instruments LabWindows/CVI screen appears. Click Install LabWindows/CVI version, where version is the version of LabWindows/CVI you are evaluating. 3. Click Next. 4. On the User Information panel, select Install NI LabWindows/CVI version Evaluation - serial number not required . 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 6. After installing LabWindows/CVI, the LabWindows/CVI installer prompts you to insert the National Instruments Device Drivers media. You do not need to install the Device Drivers to evaluate LabWindows/CVI. Click Later to finish the LabWindows/CVI installation.

The LabWindows/CVI Evaluation download installs the LabWindows/CVI Evaluation Package which can later be activated as a licensed version of LabWindows/CVI. When you launch LabWindows/CVI during the evaluation period and before you have purchased a valid license, LabWindows/CVI displays the dialog box shown in the following figure.

Click Launch CVI to begin running the software in evaluation mode for the duration of the evaluation period. You can evaluate LabWindows/CVI for a period of 30 days, with 7 days of full evaluation access. Then you can register on the National Instruments Web site for access to the remainder of the evaluation period. For the next 23 days of the evaluation period, the limitations in the Evaluation Restrictions section below apply. To purchase LabWindows/CVI, click Purchase Products. Note After you activate LabWindows/CVI, you must rebuild any projects you created in evaluation mode. If you do not rebuild the project you created in evaluation mode, the project will continue to have a 10-minute run-time timeout.
