CJ Sereno calls court sta heroes; eggs on to double their eort

TACLOBAN CITY- Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno urged court judges and personnel to double their effort in decongesting court dockets and prove to the national government, especially Congress, that this co-equal branch is deserving of better working condition and better budget necessary to improve court facilities and finance reforms in the judiciary. While she gave this advice, the Chief Justice assured the court staff that the leadership of the High Tribunal will fight for the retention of all the benefits that the officials and employees of the judiciary have been enjoying. The chief magistrate who called the court personnel as heroes, being front liners, expressed high regards on the contribution they could give to achieve the High Courts goals. Sereno, who is here for the 18th Annual National Convention of Philippine Women Judges Association (PWJA), visited the Bulwagan ng Katarungan this city yesterday where she along with other top officials of SC, scoured every staff room and trial court sala of the regional trial court as well as its library, and the Philippine Mediation Center to personally see the physical condition of the aforesaid court facilities here. PALO, Leyte- The Department of Health here in the region has urged heads of various agencies to let their rank and file employees undergo regular medical examinations. DOH-8 Regional Director Jaime Bernadas said that some employees, whether in the government or private institutions, are suffering from mental disturbances that lead to health risks and complications which eventually may result into low productivity and service delivery inefficiency. He also said that employees, especially those in the government, are entitled to regular medical check-up and must be given time to do some physical exercises in the office to avoid stress as well as the development of health risks. It took one week to complete the retrieval operation due to bad weather, fear of another landslide, and rescuers have to be extra careful

in searching for buried corpses, he said. The remains of Salcedo and Yabana were brought to the Kananga Hospital where their relatives were able to identify them. The two are expected to be buried immediately considering that they were in the state of decomposition already when recovered by the rescue groups composed of the EDC, city government of Ormoc rescue groups as well by members of the 19th Infantry Battalion led by Colonel Alejandro Nacnac and local police. Leyte board approved ordinance on rabies elimination, pet ownership

TACLOBAN CITY Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Leyte approved an ordinance authored by Board Member Ryan Lawrence Tiu (first district) seeking control on rabies bites and promotion on responsible pet ownership. The passage of Tius ordinance is in time with the observance of Rabies Awareness and Control Month celebration by the Department of Health and Department of Agriculture. The ordinance, Responsible dog and feline ownership and rabies control and elimination ordinance of Leyte is the third ordinance authored by Tiu that was approved by members of the provincial board since he took the post last August, 2012. Tiu said that the ordinance does not only seek for the control and elimination and spread of rabies but also to alized in the judiciary. I have just spent the last five days reflecting what happened during the semester. With one more meeting left, I am wondering if my students have benefitted more learnings inside the classroom than on-line and pay so much for university education and all free from a massive open education on line. Shuffling from and between two universities is no easy task. Adjusting to organizational cultures can be daunting. And not all professors, at least on part time basis will develop a global following, I mean having students from two state universities. While the semester ends, I am laboring and growing pains with my

(Mt 20,25-27) In the context of the family, the parental authority can be done well if it is exercised to give the children the basic equipment to become better persons and ultimately, better children of God. This can happen if the parents can show by consistent example to their children that they are happy with their own lives that are dedicated in pursuit of the love of God in all aspects of their lives. Besides that, they should exercise their authority with due respect and an unconditional love for their children, treating

When nature decides to destroy a man in the struggle for life, it first cultivates his ego. If we are in the painful valley of selfishness, God is telling us as he said to Israel, Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity (Hos 14:2). But it is not possible to love God unless we love our neighbour. If I really love God, my innate and persistent selfishness will have received its death blow. City Coop to hold various activities

TACLOBAN CITY -- The City Cooperative Office (CCO) bared its initial activities and programs for 2013. According to City Cooperative Chief Ruena Mate, its main thrust is to help local cooperative comply with the requirements set by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) that includes assisting the cooperatives get the required training for its members. Mate said that from February to April this year the office will be concluding a series of trainings for City based cooperatives or Audit Management. Rules Formulations and Parliamentary Procedures, In- house trainings are also set to be conducted for CAAP and Leyeco II employees next month. The City Government is to keep on helping local cooperatives. Mate said that Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez instructed the CCO to play Big Brother on small and starting cooperatives by providing them with the necessary technical support. She also disclosed that the processing of loan applications for the F4 fund is still ongoing at the CCP, Available loan of 5.000 pesos to 30,000 pesos.
