HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 22-24; Mark 12:1-22 Monday, March 11 Saul: 1 Sam. 27:1 And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 25-27; Mark 12:23-44 Tuesday, March 12 John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. O Lord Help Me Catch this Thought! Because the best-praying person is the best-believing person. After all, my prayer is nothing but my pleading the promises of God. Prayer is personal utilization of your promises. Prayer not based on the promise of grace has no basis for being answered. I cannot merit your answer, even by hours of prayer. I inherit an answer based on laying a believing claim to your promises. You hear, not for my sake, but in answer and to uphold your word. You answer because of the richness of the word, like Jesus says. It is the check I have to present to get cash at the bank. So if I have your words abiding in me, I am equipped with the things that grab your attention. I can pray right now, because I meet you with your own words, and overcome omnipotence with omnipotence. That makes me want to shout! In proportion as I feed on, retain and obey your word in my life (for that is abiding), then I can master the art of prayer. I can wrestle the Covenant Angel with skill. Amalek will be smitten, Israel delivered, and God glorified (Exod. 17:11). I bow my will today and ask you to teach me what to want. I am not fit to judge, apart from your word. If my soul is sanctified in this way, then I know it is safe for you to answer. If I trust in you with all my heart, and refuse to lean on my biblically uninformed understanding, and thereby acknowledge you along the way, you will not fail to direct my path (Prov. 3:5-6). The new nature will become second nature, and spirit-led instincts will guide me right. Grace will conquer all covetous greed and unclean desire. Your Spirit masters me when it partakes of the divine nature by your great and precious word (2 Pet. 1:4). Hallelujah! Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Joshua 1-3; Mark 14:25-58 Friday, March 15 Jer. 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Hello Lord: Our prayer is not art or science, but nature. All our prayers are the outflow of a consecrated congregation. We will not be restrained by liturgy, and yet we afford this opportunity to get our spiritual life sparked by praying together today. Our earnest expectation is for the opportunities at Easter. Speak to hearts in your royal tenderness. Our faith works by love, and so we trust you for many mighty testimonies of those who are touched by our love and turned to Christ. We do not, all of us, pray from a position free of our own needs this week. But we recognize those who dive into prayer from a sea of affliction can bring up rare pearls. We are often subject to fits of worldliness. Give us this week a fit of faith as we prepare ourselves and our congregation for the Easter Program. We mourn at how often we have hours for the world but only moments for you, Jesus. Hours for media and entertainment, but only minutes for God. The world often gets our best, and our prayer closet receives only leftover time. We confess how we give our strength and freshness to Mammon, and often our weariness and fatigue to discovering the ways of God. Forgive us Lord, we pray. You understand what heavy hearts we have. Under a sense of sin and regret Satan whispers, Why should you pray? How can you expect God to answer? So we thank you Lord, that we are commanded to pray, because otherwise in times of depression we would be tempted to give it up. If you command us then as unfit as we may be, we must approach the throne of grace. And since you command, Pray without ceasing, though our words fail and our heart itself wanders, yet will we stammer from our hungering soulLord, at least teach us to pray! WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 28-30; Mark 13 Wednesday, March 13 Psa. 45:3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. O Most Mighty God and Father: Since the Lord Jesus Christ has consented to wedlock with the church as his bride, that very union makes it necessary for him to enter into battle on my behalf. In heaven Lord, you are in a state of rest. But you see how poor your church does in this spiritual warfare. As Head of your church, assist us to war against sin! You are our almighty Champion. Bestir yourself on our behalf! How gloriously you went forth with your first disciples. They rode even to death under your leadership. We, on the other hand, have fallen into days of peace and affluence. That affluence has bred apathy and a false peace that arises from laziness, stagnation, and spiritual death. We have need to cry to you, the Captain of our salvation, to gird the sword upon your thigh and bring revival. Bring the war chariot of the Holy Ghost to the battlefront for us. Make your enemies know your power is as great now as ever in ages gone by! Lord, you have a sword. What is it? Certainly it is Eph. 6:17 the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: The Psalmist asked you to gird it upon your thigh. John the Revelator says, Rev. 1:16 And out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword This sword is a sword of truth to pierce the hearts of sinners and the consciences of saints. No sword wounds like the sword of the Spirit. And no wound heals us like the wounds of the word of God. Wield it now among us! I open myself to you to produce revival. Start with me, for Jesus sake. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Joshua 4-6; Mark 14:59-72 Saturday, March 16 Psa. 11:1 In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? LORD Almighty and Covenant-Keeper: When Satan cannot depose me by pride, he tries to defeat me by distrust. Sometimes he uses my dearest friends to cause me to doubt you! Let me not be like the timid bird that retreats to the mountain at every sign of danger. Even if the bow is bent and the arrow fitted to the string, let me rather face danger than distrust my Lord. Many times it seems like my perils are great and imminent. My haters are always ready to take aim. But what are all these dangers to the person who trusts in God alone? Nothing! Someone always asks, What can the righteous do? I ask back, What can they not do? My prayer places God on my side. My faith secures the fulfilling of your promises. What excuse can there be for me to flee today? Psa. 11:4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORDS throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. There is a source for unflinching courage: I borrow my might from heaven. Heaven is above my head no matter where I am at, and so the Lord is as near as prayer in every situation I exist. What plots can men devise that Jesus will not uncover? Lord, it seems like Satan has desired to have-at me, to sift me like flour. With Jesus praying for me, how can my faith fail? Since you are in your holy temple delighting in the sacrifice of your Son, you will send me deliverance for sure. You see my problem as if I were the only person alive. Thank you Lord, for this assurance. You know my limits; I rest assured in Jesus today. Amen.

Dearest Lord and Greatest Redeemer: The thought in Davids heart was a false thought, but how many times does Satan tempt me to think that same way? I have no reason for believing your anointing is an empty act, or your Holy Spirit is given to me in vain. Yet so often I am unbelieving about what you can do and intend to do with me. Do not believe everything you think, and certainly not everything you feel. Help me act with hope today, especially towards __________ and __________, who are lost. They need to see in me the kind of faith they could have in Christ, which would rescue them from the Sauls in their circumstance. I have been put in perilous positions at times, but never once have you deserted me to my haters. The trials I am exposed to are varied and many, but with every trial you send a way of escape for me (1 Cor. 10:13). What grace! Today when I pray I want to argue from what you have done for me, not from what I do not have. You will be my defender still, so I must be your effective witness still. Every mistrust of you is without cause. You are good and you are God, and I acknowledge that. Your lovingkindness has been marvelous, and I need to start my week remembering that. You have never failed to justify my faith in you. I have dark nights, but your star of love still shines. I have stiff battles, but when I am too weak to defend myself, you hold up the shield. I face many trials, but never to my detriment; somehow you always make them work out for good. What a God and what a gospel! Help me throw down the Jezebel of unbelief and get that message to those who need it most this day. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 31-34; Mark 14:1-24 Thursday, March 14 John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

TO Jesus every day I find my heart is closer drawn,

Hes fairer than the glory of the gold and purple dawn; Hes all my fancy pictures in its fairest dreams, and more, Each day He grows still sweeter than He was the day before. His glory broke upon me when I saw Him from afar, Hes fairer than the lily, brighter than the morning star; He fills and satisfies my longing spirit oer and oer, Each day He grows still sweeter than He was the day before. My heart is sometimes heavy, but He comes with sweet relief, He folds me to His bosom when I droop with blighting grief; I love the Christ Who all my burdens in His body bore, Each day He grows still sweeter than He was the day before. The half cannot be fancied this side the golden shore; O there Hell be still sweeter than He ever was before. William C. Martin, c. 1899

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
