Brooklyn is becoming one of New York Citys most popular destinations. Recent hotel development in the downtown area makes it easy for visitors to enjoy the many cultural institutions, shops and restaurants within fashionable nearby neighborhoods like Brooklyn Heights, BoCoCa (Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens), DUMBO, Fort Greene, Park Slope, Prospect Heights and Williamsburg. Highlights include Brooklyn Bridge Park, with spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline from its waterfront promenade; Janes Carousel; and seasonal water taxi service, as well Prospect Park, a 585-acre playground in the heart of Brooklyn. And while Brooklyn has certainly established itself as a place to be on its own, easy access to and from Manhattan is a great convenience, too.
Getting There
The Downtown Brooklyn area is just minutes from Lower Manhattan, with bus and subway service available 24/7. Seventeen subway lines connect these Brooklyn neighborhoods to the rest of the City. The area is accessible via the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and FDr Drive and is a short drive to LaGuardia Airport and JFK International Airport. The East river Ferry connects Midtown Manhattan to Williamsburg and DUMBo. New York Water Taxi offers hop-on/hop-off service between Manhattan and Brooklyn.
