Instructions to the teacher candidate: Please reflect on your professional performance, and respond to each of the following prompts. 1. In terms of the ADEPT Performance Standards, what are your professional strengths? How have you built on these strengths so far, and how do you plan to do so in the future?

According to the terms of the ADEPT Performance Standards, my professional strengths are facilitating student achievement by establishing appropriate long range learning goals by identifying the instructional, assessment, and management strategies necessary to help all students progress (APS 1). I have also found strength in facilitating student achievement by assessing and analyzing student performance (APS 3), providing accurate content for learners (APS 6), and maintaining professional responsibilities (APS 10). I have built on these strengths by preparing an effective long range plan to meet the needs and interest of my students, I constantly reflect on assessments as well as create various valid and reliable assessments by testing information that is taught, I provide and possess thorough knowledge and understanding by translating and projecting accurate information, and I am dedicated and responsible in contributing to school functions such as awards programs and field trips as a learning member of the profession. I plan to maintain these professional strengths by staying on task and improving in each and every way that I can as a student teacher.

2.) In terms of the ADEPT Performance Standards, what are your professional challenges? How do you plan to meet these challenges?

In terms of the ADEPT Performance Standards, my professional challenges are maintaining high expectations (APS 4). I would not say that this is a challenge, but it is definitely not a strength. I noticed that I did not give clear directions for students to get out of their seats and engage in the lesson. I plan to meet this challenge in regards to establishing and maintaining high expectations by providing clear directions at the

beginning of the lesson or at the beginning of explore time for students to leave their desk.

3.) Describe your students overall progress and achievement. What insights have you gained into ways to improve student progress and achievement? My students overall progress and achievement is not what I want it to be, however; it is improving! I have gained insight on strategies such as using scaffolding to help guide students. I have also gained insight on how to use questioning to help guide students to reason and I have also learned various teaching strategies to reach students in my classroom. With these insights that I am gaining, I am learning how to reach most of my students so that they will be able to learn and perform well on various assessments. These are various ways to improve student progress and achievement.

4.) How will you use the knowledge you have gained through this professional self-assessment to promote your continuous professional growth and collaboration? I will use the knowledge that I have gained through this professional self assessment as a ladder to build upon my weaknesses and step up to improve and promote continuous growth and collaboration. I plan to reflect upon my weaknesses and work hard to turn them into my strengths. I will also reflect upon my strengths so that I will continue to show and promote my continuous professional growth.
