He is selected as the best student.

BAD BOY

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

Sunil is an ordinary student and dull headed student. He is lazy and wants to drop out of school. He skips classes and is absent minded in class. The principal tried to rusticate him but left him after a stern warning. He is extremely good at hockey and football. He is serving as the captain for both the teams for five consecutive years. They admire him sense of humor and athletic skills. Sunil is very popular with his friends.

9. Sunil is afraid of exams. He doesnt study he prepares chits.

Excellent food and friendly host

1. Food is excellent and the staff is friendly and courteous. Renu, the host, makes me feel very welcome. Her friendly disposition and knowledge of the food makes it a pleasure to dine there every time. 2. Amazing food and wonderful ambince. We went for a sunday dinner. The staff were attentive and helpful. The dishes suggested to us were delicious. Would love to go back again 3. The staff made me feel at home. The staff greeted us at every visit with smiles. Chef Rakesh even took time to come out and greet us as well. I traveled to Hyderabad with a coworker and each of us enjoy cooking and learning about new foods and recipes. They took the time to teach us about various Indian dishes and even went out of their way to make things that were not on the menu so we could try such a wide variety of Indian entrees and deserts. Would love to visit again and hope that an opportunity will come again through work or on my own. 4. Relaxing and calm ambiance of this place is something that called me. The music was soothing and makes you relax at the place. Excellent food and excellent service I must say. You will definitely notice that. They serve really fast and waiters are patient, sincere and hard working. I thank the chefs for the lovely food. And let me thank Mr. Joseph through this comment for his excellent service and the wine knowledge he shared with me, man! he really was a wine encyclopedia.. 5. If you are planning to eat Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani then head on to Bawarchi. Other good restaurents are also there but they are absolutely one of the best. Price is affordable. Very fast service. Restaurent stuffs are quite friendly and helpful. But the worst part is, Bawarchi is crowded. You don't have to wait for foods but you have to wait for table. 6. Once you sit inside and start to eat.. you realise the reason for the big crowd! Good food, good service, at best price. The staff cordially help you to eat more....Never miss it. Nothing is to dislike. The taste of the Mutton Biriyani is still in my dreams.....it is worth going to Hyderabad once again.just to have one more!

7. Chutney's is a terrific place for Vegetarian food particularly of the South Indian Variety. I have been to the Banjara Hills place as well as Mehdipatnam. The Menu is rich in South Indian offerings with Thali options also thrown in. The ambience has always been very good. Dont miss the Dosa variety which is their specialty along with a range of Chutneys to pick from The filter coffee is quite amazing and the Quantity is a surprise! (Really fulfilling). Service is reasonably quick and though there may be a waiting period particularly in the evenings and the Weekend the speed of Service will make up for it All in all a cosy warm little nest for South Indian Vegetarian lovers! 8. Chutney's - as the name suggests is all about sauces. The place has a nice ambiance and good service (I have been to Jubilee hills and Banjara hills branches).Being North Indian, what suits me the most are their Dosas (esp Rawa Masala) and assortment of Utpams, along with assortment of sauces. For normal ala carte, I guess their veg offering suit to North Indian palate. They also have some Chinese dishes in the menu , which I didnt find very good. The place is slightly on the expensive side. And once there, do try out Masala Kaju with butter naan. 9. Karachi Bakery at Banjara Hills has one of the best- Cakes - Biscuits- Cream rolls Pastries.... list is endless and I must say, prices are reasonable for the quality and variety they offer Best thing: Hassle free parking 10. This happened some months ago. We were returning with a friend from Shamshabad airport, and we thought we should give him a treat. Since Shamshabad is in Telengana and our friend was from Telengana, we thought why not try something 'Telengana'? It so happened that we were passing through Masab Tank, or rather Lakdikapul, and we saw this sign: "Rayalaseema Ruchulu". So we forgot about Telengana and decided to opt for Rayalaseema. We entered the restaurant, which seemed to be rather busy. Noticing that this place boasted about some awards that it had won, we thought this should be a good restaurant. We ordered ragi sankati (two plates), bommidayala pulusu (supposed to be a tasty fish) and natu kodi pulusu (country chicken). The ragi sankati looked good, but the fish was a disappointment. It seemed that the fish had been kept in ice - it lacked freshness; and

furthermore, the fishes were very small. Perhaps, this restaurant sells two types of 'bommidayalu' - large and small. Anyway, the fish curry was a disappointment. We turned our attention to the country chicken. We searched vainly in the gravy (pulusu) to find out if there were any chicken pieces, but the cook seemed to have done some kind of 'vanishing trick' with this dish - the chicken had vanished and had left behind its bones. Imagine our plight chewing through those bones. It must have been a very tough and hardy type of chicken, having survived a Rayalaseema drought. Perhaps it was not fed enough, and had no flesh on its bones. Our friend was looking rather unhappy, and the best thing we could do was to order some white rice and curds. I think he relished the curds more than anything else. The plates and glasses (stainless steel?) were not very clean. I guess the waiters were not particular about the way food is served in a restaurant. The ambience was just a tad better than the infamous Ponnusamy Hotel in Egmore, Madras. The greatest shock came not with the food (a terrible let-down!), but with the bill. It really burnt a hole in our pocket - almost Rs 1000 for what could at best be termed a "hostel mess cook's revenge on students who demanded more non-vegetarian".We left the restaurant with the feeling that all those awards which this restaurant chain boasts of are perhaps purchased and not earned.

At the restaurant
1) The waiter

2) The guest A table for two, please. May we sit at this table? The menu, please. What's on the menu? Do you want fish? What's Irish Stew like? We're not ready yet. The steak for me, please. Can you bring me the ketchup, please? A salad, please. I'll have the same. That's all, thank you. Can I have the bill (AE: check), please? This is on me. Here you are. The rest is for you. Have you got wine by the glass? I'd prefer red wine. Please bring us another beer. Could I have chips (AE: French Fries) instead of salad? What can you recommend? Please bring me the bill (AE: check) with my coffee. I think you've made a mistake.

What can I do for you? Can I help you? Can I take your coat? Have you booked a table? How many are you? Would you follow me, please? Can I take your order, sir/madam? What would you like to start with? What would you like to drink? What would you like for dessert? How would you like your steak? (rare, medium, well done) Do you want a salad with it? What kind of dressing? Anything to drink? Do you want a dessert? The burgers are very good. Sorry, the hamburgers are off. Is everything all right? Did you enjoy your meal? Are you paying together? May I show you to a table? If you wait, there'll be a table for you free in a minute. Do you want vegetables with it? Why don't you try the pizza? It'll take about 20 minutes.

MOVIE REVIEW
DOOKUDU

Performances
Its Super Star Maheshs show all the way. Being blessed with good looks, Mahesh was dashingly handsome in Dookudu. Maheshs screen presence is amazing and carries off the movie with ease. He rocked in every scene and every frame and special mention for his extraordinary comic timing. Dookudu is one of Maheshs best performances. Samantha is extremely gorgeous and her body language, costumes and make up were apt and tailor made for her role as a fashion designer. Though Samantha hasnt got much scope for performance, it has been a delight to watch her in what she delivered. Brahmanandam yet again entertains to full extent in this awe-inspiring role. A special mention to the SMS request scene, he is outstandingly hilarious. MS Narayana is just awesome. He is another asset to the movie and his spoof of Yama Donga, Magadheera, Simha, Robo is highly entertaining. Vennela Kishore is impressive, Kota, Thanikella Bharani, Nazar, Suman, Prakash Raj, Sonu Sood are regular. Sonia of Happy Days fame leaves her mark. Pragathi, Shiva Reddy were alright. Others were adequate.

16

ATITHI

Technicalities: KV Guhans cinematography is top-rate and the exotic locales in the songs are well-shot. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are additional asset, few of them being hilarious. Thamans music is good but the background score could have been much better. Srinu Vytlas direction was okay but despite roping in Super Star Mahesh, he has made a decent family entertainer without going for novel story. Nevertheless, he showcased Mahesh Babus

characterization in a new dimension and handled it carefully. A better Screenplay in the second half and slick editing could have made wonders at the Box-Office. Production values of 14 Reels Entertainment banner are good. Mahesh Babu: Mahesh Babu is pretty stylish with his new hairdo. He continued same reckless characterization/mannerisms he enacted in Pokiri. He made sure that he mixed entertainment in fights in first half. There are quite a few emotional scenes in which Mahesh Babu gave perfect performance. Probably this is the first film in which Mahesh created comedy by getting drunk. He is pretty cool at it. Others: Amrita Rao's styling/spontaneity did not suit the character and characterization. But she is good with emotions. Asish Vidyardhi managed to look funny and furious at the same time. Though he looks very weird in the film he managed to creates good laughs. Murali Sharma is pretty good and his performance in the climax is neat. Brahmanandam, Sunil and Venu Madhav are used for the comedy. Nassar, Kota, Ajay and Ravi Prakash are adequate. The child artists who donned the roles of jr. athidi, jr. amrita and heroine's sister are cute.

17

Technical Departments: Story - screenplay - direction: Story and scenes of the film are old fashioned. But director used new technique efficiently to narrate the film. He is pretty creative when it comes to shoot action episodes. The way he has shown the future of the goons in the first fight is highly creative. The same goes with the scene in which an unsolicited home loan call disturbs the villain when he is highly tensed. But, director did not succeed in the screenplay aspect. The duration of 3 hours is too lengthy to narrate such a story. Director should have handled the vital aspect of the last 30 minutes well as it is the last 30 minutes that decides the fate of any film. Other departments: Songs of the film are ok. The songs 'Khabadarani' and 'Satyam Emito' are highly aesthetic in visuals. The highly appreciated 'Rathraina Ok' song is not upto the expectations on the screen and the Anushka voice seem to have got dubbed by somebody else on the screen. Background music by Mani Sharma is good. Dialogues by Abbburi Ravi are good. Cinematography by Sameer Reddy is excellent. Editing of the film should have been better. Production values are extraordinary. Analysis: First half of the film is decent as it established the characters and love track and then reveals a twist. The second half is about Athidi becoming the unsolicited bodyguard. The last 30 minutes of the film are heavy. The positive aspects of the film are Mahesh Babu and few fight sequences. The negative aspects of the film are heavy last half an hour, movie runtime and excessive violence. We have to wait and see how Telugu film lovers embrace this stylized flick.

18

KICK

Performances Ravi Teja cakewalks into his character of smart thief. His comedy act with Brahmanandam as well as his teasing romantic scenes with Ileana is interesting. But he needs to take care on his looks. Ileanahas slightly put on weight that makes her sexy now. Her physique looks so good. Yet, her face in the movie is looked oily. She has played hyperactive role in the movie and her performance is neat. Tamil actor Shaam is handsome and is fitted perfectly to the cop role. He has done fine job. Brahmanandam takes the care of all the comedy in the movie. Ravi Teja and Brahamanandams comedy is like extension of what they did in Krishna. The girl who played the role of Ileana sister is there only as showpiece.

TECHNICAL Cinematography by Rasool Ellore is neat. Some of the dialogues by Abburi Ravi are impressive but on the whole just okay. DirectorSurender Reddy is tried best to move the movie with comedy and succeeds to the most part. He should have taken more care in the second half. He has shown his weakness in music department once again. Music director S S Thaman (Malli Malli fame) has badly done his job. Neither the songs nor the recording is impressive. It is extensively shot in Malaysia and the production values are good.

19

VEERA

Performance: Ravi Teja has given an energetic performance all through the film. However, the comedy track between him and Brahmanandam, Ali have not worked well. Most of the comedy scenes appeared boring instead of evoking laughter. Kajal Agarwal, who got a family heroine image after Brindavanam, have done a nice job in the movie. Tapsee has gone a little overboard in terms of exposing and she reminds the audiences of Jyothi Lakshmi and Jayamalini of yesteryears, who used to play vamp characters.Rest other are okay. Technical: Music by Thaman is average and none of them very interesting and melodious. Action scenes are shot in a lavish and bloody way with overdose of violence which looked unnecessary. Dialogues by Abburi Ravi and Paruchuri Brothers are good at parts. Cinematography by Chota K Naidu is good, but Gauthamraju could have further sharpened scissors to trim many unnecessary scenes. The director took lot of time in establishing the love track between Ravi Teja and Kajal and it really tested the patience of audiences. The atrocious screenplay has played the spoilsport.

20

ARUNDHATI

Analysis Arundhati can be branded as new kind of thriller as we have not seen such high-end graphical and special effects rich movie so far. This is perhaps the first movie in Telugu that has convergence of technique and content well. The graphics and special effects are on high standards. Special effects are mind-boggling. And screenplay is perfect. It never slackens. The best part of the screenplay is it doesn't deviate from the main storyline - not even in a single scene. And thankfully, there are no comedy tracks too. It sticks to its genre and storyline through out. It doesnt mean that it doesnt have loopholes. Yes, it has some logical problems and the theme doesnt hold water on scientific grounds, yet on cinematic liberties, it can be excused. First half is really superb. But the second half lacks the tempo and the climax sequences defy the logic. We are informed that villain can be killed only if he gets to human form, but the evil force doesnt go into any human body, yet Anushka kills him. How come? Performances Anushka has given knockout performance in the role of Jejamma. She is backbone of the movie and she succeeds in delivering what she is asked to. All her efforts have really paid off. But she is not that effective in her latter role and also in a scene where she is required to dance, her gait and steps are amateurish. She should have taken care on that front. For the first

21

time, she has done performance oriented role and also dual role and her tall figure is best suited for the role of bravery Jejamma. Sonu Sood as evil force and womanizer king is exceptional. He brings venom on to the screen with his deadly looks as Satan and the dubbing given by P Ravi Shankar is another strength. Sayaji Shinde in the role of fakir has given wonderful performance. After Anushka and Sonu Sood, his character plays the major role in the movie and he has delivered it with finesse. Other cast is okay.

Technically, the film is on high standards. First and foremost, the credit should be given to the screenplay writer and then the creative director ( Rahul Nambiar). Screenplay is racy and there is a never a dull moment. Visual effects in the supervision of Rahul Nambiar are awesome. Ever dependable Senthil Kumarcomes out with excellent visuals once again and provides camerawork in tune to the theme. Songs are weakest part of the movie but Koti makes it up with his good re-recording. If the songs are good, the film could have been even better. Ashok Kumars set work is first class. The fort set deserves special mention. Editing by Marthand K Venekatesh is also plus point. The film has less run time compared to regular Telugu films. Producer Shyam Prasad Reddy should be commended for his vision, passion and guts to make a film like this. Best Parts Racy screenplay, visual effects, Anushka in the role of Jejamma and Sonu Sood are strengths.

22

SIMHA PERFORMANCE: Balakrishna, after a long time, has given energetic performance . He played dual roles as father and son. He excelled in both the roles. However, ageing is clearly visible during close-up shots. However, director ensured to elevate both the characters with equal ease. Sneha Ullal is okay for looks but she still needs to improve her acting skills. Especially, she should be more cautious on her lip sync. Namitha played another glamorous role in the film. But she appeared quite bulky despite showing her oomph. She is yet to realise the fact that she has to shed the fat. KR Vijaya was the perfect choice for the grandmother"s role and she lived in the character and did complete justice to her role. Aditya Menon and Malayalam artiste Saikumar showed good screen presence. Rahman is okay as Balakrishna"s brother-in-law. Nayanatara, though had a very small role in the film, is okay in her character. Comedy by Krishna Bhagawan, Ali, Venumadhav is just average and literally they failed to tickle the funny bones. TECHNICAL: Chakri has composed melodious tunes to all the songs, though they remind us of 80s and 90s Songs. Choreography of all the songs is okay and Balakrishna tried to prove that he could compete with Junior NTR in dances by trying some innovate steps. Action by Ram-Lakshman and Stun Siva is fine. Especially the chase scenes, the scenes that relate to hero bashing the villains and the gory killings were perfectly shot. Background score by Chinna is good and elevated the mood in many scenes. Camera by Arthur Wilson is good while art by AS Prakash is laudable. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao should have a little more sharp. Though the first half is okay, it appeared a little stretched. However, the action scenes in the second half made the audiences ignore the stretching of scenes to some extent.

23

PARAM VEERA CHAKRA

What is Good: The movie is all about Balakrishna and his double role ensures that he is there in every scene of the movie. He plays to the gallery, and if you are a Balakrishna fan, there are strong chances that you will walk out happy. The fans will like the politically loaded dialogues, the bombastic fight sequences with Balakrishna effortlessly beating everyone up, the three heroines breaking into songs at frequent intervals and most of all getting to see Balakrishna copying his fathers (NTR) mannerisms as Major Jaisimha. The dialogues were what got the maximum whistles and cat-calls from the audience. Amongst the heroines, Neha Dhupia is the scene-stealer with her skin show and action scenes while Sheela is cute in her song and dance role. There is also a comic sub-plot with Brahmanandam and Ali spoofing Rajnikants Robot with Ali playing a robot named Chaddi!!!

What is bad: The movie suffers from a total lack of a credible script or screenplay. The basic story of the movie starstepping into a Majors role is a potential entertainer but Dasari decides to leave that premise and instead concentrate more on sending out multiple political and social messages that dont take the film anywhere. The first half concentrates more on showing the Tollywood big-shots making guest appearances during Chakradhars shoots and praising him while the second half goes overboard with the action scenes in the Majors life. Most of the scenes defy logic and seem forced into the film esp. the entire segment on Komaram Bheem. The films production values are below average and the fights, sets, choreography, etc are like what we used to movies made many years back. The sets look tacky while special effects are amateurish. Ameesha Patel, Jayasudha and Kota Srinivas Rao are wasted in miniscule roles where they have 4-5 dialogues. Mani Sharmas music disappoints with no recall value.

24

BADRINATH

Artists Performance Allu Arjun: Allu Arjun has taken tremendous pain in traveling to Vietnam to learn south-east-Asian martial arts for this movie. All his hard work shows up in the movie where he appears more like a warrior from south-east-Asian regions (Chinese or Japanese) with a pony tail and leather gear (chest belt and shoes). He is amazing with fluid movements in the dances. He is good with fights. Others: Tamanna is like a regular glamorous commercial Telugu heroine in this movie where she begs hero to come and save her. Prakash Raj also doesnt look like an Indian master warrior with a typical Japanese/Chinese style hairdo. Kelly Dorge makes another grand appearance as a villain in this film. Ashwini Kalsekar (Phoonk fame) looks threatening as Kelly Dorjis wife. Raghu Babus comedy works partly. The thread of Brahmanandam and Dharmavarapu is inspired (more like a tribute) by their track in Indra film. Krishna Bhagawan and MS Narayana are other comedians. Pragati has a limited role. Technical Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is about how a boy reacts when he is put in between a guru who taught him all and a girl who is loving him. Chinni Krishna has provided yet another story with a temple backdrop. The story is unrealistic as the concept of kshetra palakulu (like private army without any connection to the government). There are couple of good commercial elements in the story-base like a boy from shepherd family is taken into the pious group of warriors and a non-believer in god turning into a god-worshipper. This story has two dimensions to it. One is guru-sishya relationship another is the love angle between

25

hero and heroine. A film with such a huge visual canvas should concentrate on these two relationships to sustain interest among the audiences. But the director VV Vinayak who is usually good with emotions and mass elements didnt get both action and emotions aspect right in this movie. Other departments: Music by Keeravani is good for a couple of songs. Background music is nice. Cinematography by Ravi Varma Ravi Varma is excellent. Locations are picturesque. Art direction by Anand Sai is really good and you cant find difference between set and real location. Editing is fine. Stunt choreography by Peter Heins concentrate more on acrobatics than realistic composition. Production values by Geetha Arts are grand. Analysis: The take-off of the film is really interesting. But the unfolding of the story is not gripping. It is a simple love story from girl point of view with a backdrop of Badrinath temple. The bonding between guru-sishya is not exploited. The plus points of the film are Allu Arjun (dances, fights and performance), cinematography and grand production values. On the flip side, narration lacks grip and screenplay should have been better. A film of this grandeur needs emotional support to make it likable. VV Vinayak who proved himself as a highly successful mass director with his earlier films falter this time to handle a subject of such a huge canvas.

26

MAGADHEERA

ArtistsPerformance: RamCharans performance in his debut film Chiruta is like a show reel of what he is capable of doing. In this movie, he gets an opportunity to do some real good performance and he performs them convincingly with effortless ease. And he had gone through tremendous physical toil in this film as it involves horse riding, sword fighting, dances and many more. His dance in Bangaru Kodipetta after the completion of Chiranjeevis appearance is stunning. He is gifted with a good voice and he should fine tune it further to come up with pristine Telugu diction. Kajal Agarwal: Kajal Agarwal is the surprise pack of this movie. She never looked so gorgeous and lovely in her earlier movies. She is overwhelming in this movie. Soumya who dubbed her voice came up with fabulous job in the first half where heroines naughty and is in love. Others: Chiranjeevi did a special appearance in Bangaru Kodi Petta remix song. Srihari has relatively small screen presence. But his role is extremely powerful. He is excellent as Share Khan and his get-up and dialogue delivery is superb. And his Srikakulam dialect in the second half is very nice. The guy who did the role of villain has sharp features and he is adequate. Rao Ramesh is excellent in the role of Aghora. His voice and body language is wonderful. Sameer is good as the deputy of Srihari. Sunil and Brahmanandam are adequate. Mumaith Khan danced with Ram Charan Teja in Bangaru Kodi Petta. Kim Sharma did another item song. One wonders what Saloni is doing in this movie?

27

ORANGE Analysis:

Orange starts off on a confusing note. Director thought of narrating this love story with a bang and keeps the audience glued right from the start. But somehow it lacked clarity at the start. The characters behave in an awkward way and it takes time for the audience to get used to them and understand their ideology. The narration settles down after the first song and the pace picks up. Heros typical characterization is the conflict in this love story. And that very characterization is the driving factor of this story and infuses comedy into the proceedings. First half runs smoothly and aptly supported by good music. As the story is simple and straightforward, the director didnt go for unnecessary bangs for the sake of intermission. Second half too starts off good with some well written scenes. The scene where the hero plays truth and dare game and the scene in which he practically explains the difference between everlasting love and true love is excellent. Even the flashback of the hero starts off well. Actually, the first 45 minutes after interval is the best part of the film. Orange Love Idi and Rooba Rooba are well picturized songs among all the six and these songs too fall during this period of time. However, the graph rapidly falls right after Rooba Rooba song as the director starts to explain his ideology about everlasting love. The film heads towards climax in an unconvincing manner. Director lacked clarity during the last half hour that many of the audience in the auditorium will be left confused of what is going on the screen. Hero changing his mindset all of a sudden is not brought on to the screen in a convincing way. This part needs more depth and good dialog to leave a mark on the audience, sadly that didnt happen! To sum it up this Orange is sweet up to seventy percent and turned utterly sour towards the end.

28

Performances:

Ram Charan has gone for a complete image changeover in this film. His previous two films are action based and targeted mainly at the mass audience. In Orange Ram Charan tried to woo the urban crowds and youngsters. He is simply rocking in this movie. His costumes, hairstyle and gadgets are sure going to become a rage among the college goers in coming days. Mega fans might be little bit disappointed with Charans dances as there are no landmark steps in this film. Most of the dance movements are stylish and cool and in sync with the music. Ram Charan is surely lagging behind Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan in the comedy department. His comedy timing needs to be improved a lot. Saying so, he has given a matured performance in Orange. His performance towards the climax shows his caliber as an actor. Genelia is as lively as ever. She is supreme cool in those ultra modern costumes and chic look. Her character has shades of Bommarillu Hasini, but not that much entertaining. Shazahn Padamsee has good looks and has delivered a neat performance. She has the potential to become a busy heroine if given right opportunities. Brahmanandams comedy as Puppy is good in few scenes. Avasarala Srinivas excelled in a tiny role called Pushkar. Nagababu is standard. Prakash Raj is perfect. Prabhu is neat. Vennela Kishore and the other person who played Charans friend are good. Manjula and others did their part.
