Generation 1
1. Luke Murray-1 was born on 1812 in Ireland[1]. He died on 17 Feb 1892 in Port Leyden ???[2]. He
married Mary (Elizabeth) Hanley Murray on 21 Dec 1848 in West Turin. She was born on 1818 in
New York State[3, 4]. He married Bridget Walsh on Bef. 1842. She died on Bef. 1848.

Loftus Murray. 1855 Census states a Catherine (Nilenllon) age 21? lived with the Murrays as a
servant. The 1860 Census shows this family in Constableville, Town of Highmarket under the
name of Luke Mong. Luke was 80 years old at the time of his death according to St. Martin's
Church Records.

There was a Mary Murray in the 1850 Town of West Turin Census, age 2.
She was not listed in the 1855 or 1860 census.

Notes for James Murray:
Never married. For many years he was a lock tender on the old Black
River Canal between Boonville & Rome. He died at Loretto Rest in
Syracuse. Lived in Boonville in 1917. Alive in 1924.

2. Anna Murray Loftus-2(Luke Murray-1) was born on 1847 in Highmarket, Lewis County, NY. She died
on 1891[5]. She married Patrick N. Loftus on Abt. 1872, son of Patrick Loftus Sr. and Mary E. Neary
Loftus. He was born on 10 Aug 1840 in Quebec, Canada[7]. He died on 22 Feb 1929 in Bayside,
Long Island, NY[11, 12].

dead in the hallway of th house of Timothy Kehoe at 19 Buffalo St. in
Utica,NY. The story indicated that he had lost the use of his legs when
he was quite young because of an attack of spinal meningitis. Death
was caused by a heart attack. He was a member of St. Agnes Church.

NY[20], D: 01 Sep 1959 in Syracuse, NY[16], M: 07 Jul 1909 in St. Agnes Church,
Utica, NY.

Godparents- Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Caroll. Baptismal records show her name
as Mary Ann Loftus.
Margaret was educated in Utica schools, where she lived most of her life. She
was a member of St. Francis deSales Church and its Altar Rosary Society.

When Patrick was a small boy he moved to Utica with his parents and received his
education in the Mary Street School. He was a member of St. Agnes Church. His
occupation was an iron moulder but previous to his late illness he was employed in
the New York Central freight house.

Josephine lived in Utica at the time of her father death in 1929. She had been
educated in Utica Schools. She was a communicant of St. Paul's Church in
Whitesboro.
Josephine died at the home of her sister, Margaret Dwyer.

Charles lived in Utica in 1929 at time of his father's death. Charles came to Utica
with his parents in his childhood and attended local schools. He never married. He
was a member of St. Francis deSales Church.

3. John H. Murray-2(Luke Murray-1)[16, 22] was born on 15 Feb 1851 in Highmarket, Lewis County, NY[7,
8]. He died on 05 Nov 1917 in Port Leyden, NY[9]. He married Catherine Loftus Murray on Jan 1869 in
Constableville, NY, daughter of Patrick Loftus Sr. and Mary E. Neary Loftus. She was born on 23 Mar
1851 in St. Jerome, Quebec, Canada[7, 23, 24]. She died on 08 Aug 1914 in Port Leyden, NY[7].

community, having lived in Port Leyden for 25 years. Since the death of Mrs. Murray, three years
ago, he has made his home with his daughter who tenderly dared for him during his illness. He is
survived by the following children: Mrs. Charles Lyman and John Murray, Port Leyden, James and
Bernard Murray, New York, Mrs. Martin Dwyer, Cincinnati, Ohio. Two brothers also survive, James
Murray of Boonville and Luke Murray of Utica. The funeral was held Thursday beginning from St.
Martin's Church. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family. Birth and death
information taken from gravestone at Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden, NY 1875 Census said his
occupation was a laborer. Death certificate
#71167. John lived in Port Leyden for 25 years.

Notes for E. Augustus Murray:
Augustus was alive in 1914 but not alive in 1917. Augustus was named in Ruth
Lyman Wainman's will, but they were unable to find him. He would have been
over 100 at that time.

John died of "Shock" according to St. Martin's records. I found his will in Lewis
County, but no real information was obtained.

In the 1910 Manhattan Census, Bernard was living with Atelia Cavanaugh (his Aunt)
and was a bookkeeper. Bernard was the manager of the New York office of the
Hinde & Dauch Paper Co., Hoboken, NJ.

Elizabeth Lynch Collins. She was born on 24 Jun 1863 in Co. Limerick, Ireland. She died on 18 Jan
1942.

census said he was a laborer in a cotton mill. Luke lived in Lowville
