AIC BOSTON OFFICE Internship Manager Contract Position

About AIC The Academic Internship Council (AIC), a leading US-based non-profit specializing in academic internships, provides quality programs for domestic and international university partners. Building on nearly three decades of experience building customized, academically directed internship programs in Boston, New York City, San Francisco, Singapore, Toronto and (Mumbai starting in 2013). In addition to internship placement and coordination, AIC provides program development and management, student accommodation and program safety, as well as student life and social activity coordination. Internship Program Manager (Contract Position) The Boston Program Manager, will be responsible for internship placements and employer outreach, student counseling and career preparation for our Boston-based internship programs. Additional tasks will include assisting with management of the J-1 Visa process, assistance with program delivery for domestic and international students, and support with daily operations. This contract position is for four months starting in mid-April continuing through mid-August. Hours per week may be flexible, but a firm commitment of full-time or nearly full-time schedule would be required from mid-May through early July. Primary Responsibilities Provide internship placement services for undergraduate students of Boston University and other AIC partner universities. Conduct employer and internship sponsor outreach at various professional associations and networking events. Maintain and expand database of employer contact information. Advise and counsel domestic and international students on their career development by holding individual career assessment interviews and by providing personalized consultations during office hours. Assist with cultural activities, orientation, and workshops/presentations on resume and cover letter writing, interviewing techniques, internship professionalism and success, and American workplace culture. Qualifications Applicants should possess the following: Resourcefulness and enthusiasm Strong networking and client service skills Good judgment and the ability to prioritize workflow Interest in experiential education and international education Strong research skills and close attention to detail Excellent written and oral communication Strong cross-cultural awareness Ability to work autonomously and in small group situations Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, FileMaker Knowledge of Boston industry sectors is beneficial Interested candidates should apply by March 13 by emailing a resume and cover letter detailing their interest to boston@academicinternshipcouncil.org.
