Tony Mercadante Exit Interview Killington/Pico overall observations A solid operation with many functional components o Many base

se lodges for guests to spread out: K1, Ramshead, Snowshed o A long withstanding history that truly makes this resort The Beast of the East Huge mountain with many trails A coordinated mountain ops crew that pumps out snowmaking A great location for snow, and thats what drives the business Overall Ive heard multiple guests boast about this place and give great compliments Is it a good place to work? Yes. Great experience and great people. Is the pay good? I dont know but from what Ive heard its not good. This is unattractive in my opinion. Good companies pay well! Improvements to staff is always something Killington can work on o J-1 employees are good workers when they want to be The supervisor and department General Manager: Ellen McDonough has been my mentor and guide o Taught me more than I could have ever imagined From how to manage people to how to run a successful F&B operation Assistant Manager: David Bataese has been a support figure for me o Shown me proper culinary practices to a certain degree The department: learned of upper managements role and piece (Dierde/Scott) o Also learned how F&B is budgeted to some degree Where can we improve? o Better hiring of employees o More face time with guests The Killington co-op coordination Killington staff seems to love to work with RHM students o I feel as if the students are held at a higher standard and they should be! o We should continue to be held at a higher degree because this is what were here to do The classroom experience of Co-Op was a pain o I didnt feel challenged aside from short term/long term projects Maybe the overwhelming amount of work during the busiest time of year was intentional which is good to experience but overall I was frankly annoyed by this class

The RHM faculty (during co-op) / The Co-Op Program The faculty was very supportive (thank you Colleen for setting up this meeting) o Frank and Colleen were there to cheer us up on Christmas Day which was very considerate My one suggestion is to make students aware (from the start!) that they are expected to help out during the spring semester at their co-op job (maybe I missed this notification?) o I am not thrilled to be taking 6 classes and working my job because I want to maintain a good grade The students self evaluation I believe I have grasped a good first step at management o I have found my own techniques that help motivate workers below me Example being just how you talk to certain individuals. Some require a slower speech and less demanding. Others are just the opposite. Ive learned that mistakes are inevitable no one is perfect Ive learned that even when you think you made a perfect decision things can come around to haunt you Ive learned to take the constructive criticism and to not get offended Ive learned stress is a part of the hospitality industry although I knew this going in I didnt know to what extent I now know that extent
