MY PLAYCALLING SYSTEM
Playcalling, from my point of view, has to be as short as possible and has to tell all my players on the field what their assignaments are. I put emphasys on playcalling being short for a lot of reasons, first of all because my players usually don't speak a good english so I tend to force them to learn as less terms as possible, then I want the time spent from my players inside the huddle to be as short as possible to give my QB plenty of time to set his players and make his pre-snap reads. Usually play calling is made of the following parts Motion to a formation formation formation modifiers strenght motion from a formation two or three digits play name additional tags Example 1: Y mo Spread Right 90 hotel (Y mo = motion to a formation, Spread Right = formation and strenght, 90 = passing play and protection, hotel = passing concept mirrored both sides of the formation) Example 2: Spread Right D Yo 22 zone All of those terms used into a play call are to be explained and have to be learned by the players, this process is not always easy but once the whole team will be in the same page playcalling will be very easy and immediate. this being said, I will explain all the concept involved into our way to call plays. Holes numbering system The ODD numbered holes are to the left, and EVEN numbered holes are to the right. The area between the Center and Right Guard is the "0 hole." The area between Right Guard and Right Tackle is the "2 hole." The area between the Right Tackle and Tight End is the "4 hole," the area between the Tight End and the most inside receiver is the "6 hole." and the area between the Most inside receiver and the sideline is the "8 hole." The same rules apply to the opposite side of the line with the personnel corresponding to odd numbered holes of "1," "3," "5," "7," and "9". FORMATIONS

FORMATION MODIFIER TAGS wide: used to modify a compressed formation, like bunch, the pointer receiver will line up at half distance between his side Offensive Tackle and the sideline

Flex: Switches receviers from being on or off the LOS into the called formation pair: (strong or weak or both) the two most inside receivers of the called formation will line up 1 yd far from each other, just outside the hashmarks if they are to the field or at half distance between their side offensive tackle and the sideline if they line up to the boundaries pinch: receivers will line up 1 yd apart from their side OT and 1 yds apart from each other pro formation modifiers strong: fb will line up between strong side guard and tackle weak: fb will line up between weak side guard and tackle split: both rbs will line up at 4,5 yds from the LOS and between their side guard and tackle PERSONNEL GROUPING When dealing with any sort of multiple formations offense the very first problem to deal with is how to manage your need of constantly changing your personnel in and out of the field. We divide our formations into groups, groups are called with a 2 digits number, the first of those numbers dictate the number of RBs the second the number of TEs we want to use into a singular formation. this being said, we will be able to make a list of our formation depending on the personnel involved ZERO: (no RBs, no TEs) is our 5 receivers package, Empty, Diamond and Quads formations are the three most important 10: (1 RB, no TE) 4 receivers formations, spread, bunch, trips, pinch 11: (1 RB, 1 TE) 3 receviers formations, Taxi, Trio, Trey, these are just examples on how we manage our personnel, every time we are in need of changing our personnel into the field our receiver coach will simply yell the number corrisponding to the group we want in and all our players will know who's in. RECEIVERS Z: Always #1 receiver to strong side Y: receiver #2 to strong side except on those formations where a TE is the #1 receiver to the weak side (TRIO) X: recevier # 1 to weak side D: recevier # 2 to weak side S: receiver # 3 to strong side MOTIONS We usually use two types of motions, we can motion to a formation from a different formation to change the strenght of it or to gain leverage on a certain receiver but we can also motion from a formation to line up one of our receiver into a different spot than usual Motion to a formation MO: tells a singular receiver to line up as the most inside receiver to the opposite side of the formation called and at the signal to motion to his usual position of the given formation YO: tells a receiver to line up in his usual position into the formation and at the QB signal motion across the formation till he gets to the opposite side tackle and then come back to his original position GO: tells a receiver to line up in the backfield as a running back and at the signal motion to his position into the given formation Motion from a formation IN: tells a receiver to motion towards the ball till the ball will be snapped OUT: just the opposite of the IN motion ARC: called player will execute an ARC motion untill the snap will be called, this motion is a half speed motion leading the receiver at a depth of 6 yds into the backfield JET: full speed motion through the formation parallel to the LOS

PLAY SERIES 10: QB RUNS 20: FB (SINGLE BACK) RUNS 30: HB RUNS 40: SCREEN PASSES 50: EMPTY FORMATION PASSING SERIES (first number of the series tells the number of protectors, the second tells the protection scheme will be used) 60: MEDIUM/LONG PASSES, 6 MEN PROTECTION 70: MEDIUM/LONG PASSES, 7 MEN PROTECTION 80: MEDIUM/LONG PASSES, 8 MEN PROTECTION 90: SHORT PASSING GAME 300/400: INSIDE ZONE, STRAIGHT DROPBACK PLAY ACTION SERIES 500: TRICK PLAYS SERIES 600/700: PASS ACTION SERIES 800/900: BOOT SERIES PASS PROTECTION SCHEMES As we said, the second number of a pass series tells our players what scheme of protiection we will be using, we commonly use 5 different scheme of protection: 0-1: BIG ON BIG, even numbers to the right, odd numbers to the left 2-3: QUICK protection, BIG on BIG with a cut technique, used on our quick passing game 4-5: ZONE PROTECTION 6-7: SLIDE PROTECTION 8-9: ROLL OUT PROTECTION Just to be 66: 6 men 51: 5 men 82: 8 men clearer: protecting with a SLIDE right scheme protecting with a BOB left scheme protecting wit a QUICK right cheme

This being said we should have all we need to make our playcall except for all the names identifying a specific run play or a specific routes concept which will be later discussed.
