1:Project Overview 1:2 A rst person shooter style game set in the present day in Kurchatov a disaster in Kursk

nuclear power plant 30 years ago caused an urgent evacuation. Residents left behind all of their belongings and personal items, grabbing only a small number of possessions. Over the years, the area remained abandoned until recently when it turned into a tourist site. A small group of people paid to have the rst guided tour around the ghost town and mysteriously went missing. With the media coverage and concern from the public, military officers were sent out to investigate their disappearances. Upon visiting, the military discovered that not everyone escaped the radiation. This excessive amount of radiation exposure caused mutations in the remaining civilians, killing all of the tourists and soldiers apart from one officer. 1:4 Genre The genre is a survival horror FPS. 1:5 Target Audience The dened age group is 18-30. Due to the gory nature of the game it must be for over 18s. A military officer has been sent there to investigate missing persons which turns into survival horror gameplay. Different waves of lurchers 2:2 Story Open cinematic sequence

A news report speaks of a nuclear disaster that happened 30 years ago which has caused a group of tourists to visit the site as the levels of radiation have started to decrease. The rst group have mysteriously gone missing after expecting to return a week ago. Images of the abandoned area are shown during the report revealing how vacant and withdrawn the area is. After the broadcast, the screen fades into darkness with panting and heavy breathing, fading back into a rst person view. The character is running, scanning the environment and calling out to see if anyone is near. As he continues to explore, he stops to use his radio for assistance as his team have gone missing. Whilst speaking he notices something move quickly out of the corner of his eye, along with scuffling of cans. He calls out again to see if anyone is there and takes a step forward but hears the same noise behind him and follows it into the school. He steps into the room which is a pitch black so he uses his ash light. Whilst scanning the cluttered room he reaches the far corner and discovers a mutant. The mutant leaps forward towards the officer and the screen cuts to black. This is where the gameplay would begin. Backstory of Game A Military officer and his team is sent to Kurchatov to look for survivors of an extreme tourist exhibition. Whilst on their mission, the group is separated. Unknown to the public and the team, some people stayed during the evacuation period. The excessive amounts of radiation affected their body but also the brain. He sees some of his men dead on the ground by an unknown source but some are still missing. On his mission to look for his surviving men, the tourists and guides he encounters the lurchers and their growing intelligence. 2:3 Character Lieutenant Marko Slavik - Part of the Russian Military. Hes a strong character and courageous, leaving him as the only survivor on the assignment. Hes 6ft 2 with an average build and aged 34. Lurchers Mutated humans from radiation exposure with impaired limbs and a variation of deformities. They avoid light as it causes blindness and pain. They also see better in the dark putting them at an advantage. There are different kinds of lurchers with specic abilities. Special Lurchers: These characters have been infected the longest and have gained more intelligence over time. They are mainly male characters and have gained the ability to reproduce. Their appearance is more mutated than others and they are a lot stronger. They can also interact with the environment using props as weapons.

2:4 Environment The game is set in the present day in Kurchatov where a nuclear disaster took place 30 years ago. The area is now deserted as everyone was forced to evacuate because of the high levels of radiation. The radiation is decreasing over time but is still considered a danger to live there. The environment is fairly run down and dirty with shrubbery and weeds growing unruly. Decaying buildings and an abandoned playground stand along with a swimming pool, hotel and a school in what used to be a populated area. 2:5 Level Overview(s) Town level: This level consists of common buildings such as a shop, ats and a gas station. The player is only able to go into 3 buildings to explore its contents on one oor. These are a swimming pool, school and a nursery. The ground area is very run down and decayed with some re, steam and smoke. The atmosphere has an eerie and creepy feel. Other Levels: The sewer, Forest, A larger hospital, 2:6 Game Objectives To kill as many lurchers as possible To nd any remaining survivors and protect them whilst taking them to a safe area (if they are killed the level restarts) Opportunities to nd different styled weapons and add them to your inventory To contact the outside world and try to escape alive with the survivors.

3: Gameplay 3:1 Combat The player starts off with one main weapon which is the AK47. It has a torch attached to it and ammo is hidden in the environment to reload the gun. It res fully automatic. 3:2 Abilities The player can switch between a weapon and a hand held torch. There will be opportunities to change weapons as the game progresses. 3:3 Score Depending on the level of difficulty on killing the lurchers, more points are awarded. The score is shown before you progress to the next level.

3:4 Power-Ups There will be health packs available in the environment which can be picked up and kept in an inventory until needed. You can only carry one at a time. 4: Menu Layout 4:1 Colour Scheme Reds, Blacks, Greys, Browns. Dark saturated colours associated with horror. 4:2 Menu Screen Buttons for Play, Game Controls and Quit. 4:3 Tutorials/Instructions screen On the start menu and pause menu screen a button called Game Controls where an overview of what buttons trigger what control and action. 4:4 Game Over Screen A button to restart the level or quit to main menu. 5: Game Layout 5:1 Camera Setup The camera is connected to a controller for a rst person view. 5:2 Game Controls Move - Arrow keys Look - Mouse movement Left Click - Fire Right Click - Gun Focus aim L - Flashlight on/off 1,2,3 - Weapon Switch I - Inventory H - Use Health Pack R- Reload

5:3 Game Mode Single Player which could have multiplayer compatibility.
