Sports Day Good morning LICET!

(On this bright sunny day, in the land of wonders, with the roar of cheering crowds, boys and girls full of hopes, with the mind of dreams and expectations, wishing and winning cups and medals, we are gathered) Welcome to the Annual Sports Meet 2012 - a culmination of the month-long sports activities that brought to the fore, the spirit of sportsmanship among our students. LICET is aware that the students are not just finished products of engineering; rather they are in the making. At LICET, academic excellence and student formation are considered as two axes of education. We create an atmosphere for the over-all growth of students and nurture their multifarious talents. Prayer Song As we begin the days activities, let us look up to the Almighty God and pray that His glory be manifested in all that we do. Lets make this prayer our very own. O God,you gave us body- a blessing; As well as minds and hearts; With which to praise and worship you. Our sports and excercises are a fitting use of gifts and talents you have given us. Bless our work outs and the games we play, And those with whom we compete. Give us strength endurance,courage and agility to be at our best. Keep us safe and healthy as we celebrate our physical and mental skills in sports. March Past Wow! What a vibrant spectacle! Looks like a splash of colors of the rainbow over the grassy green field. What a fantastic sight it is to watch our enthusiastic students clad in colorful attire, waiting to put their best foot forward. Lets have the Departments marching to the rhythmic beats of the band, filling the ground with the air of competition, team spirit and cheer. Leading the March past, we have our traditional Loyola band playing. Following the band is Sanya Sarah Raju, who holds our prestigious College Flag. Sanya is the proud winner of Womens individual championship of LICETs Annual Sports held in 2011

2012. She is a good badmitan player and a very good athlete.she has won gold medals in long jump and high jump. Next comes, the Olympic flag bearer uma Shankar of the mechanical department is a good middle district runner,divisional level champion in silambattam and has won two times in the state -level competition .Hes won the individual championship last year and has also won the second place in the 4*400 mts in the anna university zone 3 athletic meet.he has won the second place in 1500 mts and has won third place in cross country in south zone meet. Here they are, the 5 Departments, marching ahead with verve and vigor. First we have the students of Information Technology Department, in flaming red, the color of blood, symbolizing vitality and life. Heres priyanka the pluck card holder, leading the invincible IT-ians. She is a good athlete and has participated in 100mts 200 mts and relay events .shes also a good throw ball player.Iniya raj the flag holder of IT department is a good short put ,javelin and discuss thrower.Hes been a good team leader for is department.

Behind them, we have the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department crusading in yellow, the color of creativity, intellect and wisdom. Leading their troop, is swati priya their pluck card holder.shes an excellent throw ball and volley ball player.she has represented college volley ball team in anna university zone -3 tournaments.Ajay Immanuel the flag ho lder of e.c.e is the opener for colleges cricket and badminton team.He has represented both college cricket team and badmitton in anna university zone-3 tournament. . Behind them we have the Mechanical department marching ahead, in purple, symbolizing royalty, peace and tranquility. Leading them is, their captain Jemmy Sharon, a zonal level athlete, basket ball, shuttle and table tennis player. . With the flag of the Mechanical Department, their Captain, pradeep nirmal marches forward. Hes a good cricketer and has been a part of the college cricket team and college athletics as well.he has represented anna university zone three tournament. The students of Computer Science and Engineering come, marching first. Theyre in Blue - the color of inspiration and youth, they progress with all enthusiasm and self-confidence.Jacquiline the pluck card holder is a good carom player and a huge support to their team . flag holder rajesh is a volley ball player and an athlete is a college team volley ball player.Hes selected to participate in the inter-zonal volley ball tournament at milam engineering college.he s selected for javelin in the inter zonal athletic meet at trichy.

Conveying the message of well-being and health through the color of nature, the troop of Electrical and Electronics Engineering students, marches ahead with zest and fervor. Leading

them is, their captain Hiresha kiran.the The team marches ahead under her brilliant leadership qualities.she is a good throw ball and volley ball player. With the flag of the Electrical department ,their captain Aswin muthu marches forward.Hes an excellent foot ball player.hes represented our college team in anna university zone -3 tournaments.hes a very good defender .

. Who! What an excitement among the crowd as they cheer their Departments. Wasnt it wonderful to watch the parade as they marched on towards the center of the ground?! Yeah, the colorful assortment of Department flags and the troops lined up in neat arrays its brilliant. Salute Flag Hoisting May I now invite our Rector, Rev. Fr. K. Amal SJ, to hoist our National Flag. Our National Flag, fluttering high, certainly revives the patriotic feeling within each one who looks upon it. With saffron, indicating renunciation and valor; white, truth to guide our conduct and green, prosperity, our Indian flag symbolizes peace, struggle, strength, unity, culture and progress. It is the symbol of freedom from bondage. Now, I request our director Rev.dr. francis xavier to hoist our prestigious College flag. Well, this is a proud moment. We can see the coat of arms of the college embossed on our College flag. The shield, the open book and the burning torch stand for education imparted by our College, which challenges us, the students, to live up to the college motto: LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE, by learning and being good examples so that we may become beacon-lights of hope and liberation to others. Olympic Torch The Olympic flame is a practice continued from the ancient Olympic games. The flame itself represents purity and the endeavor for perfection. The Olympic torch relay represents a continuation from the ancient Olympic Games to the modern Olympics. We now welcome our finance controller rev dr. A. Maria augustine to set ablaze the Olympic flame. (>>>>>>>>>>) Now, Kavya elizabeth of EEE Department receives the torch from father. Kavya started rowing at the age of 15 .of the three nationals she has represented she won gold and bronze.she also represenred india in the international school level and has won bronze medal.she has recently represented anna university in all india inter university competition held in Punjab.

The torch is being handed over to ajoy infant raj of mechanical department who is a state level badminton player and was selected by SJFI in under 13 category.He has won the state badminton championship in doubles event in 2006.He has represented anna university in zone 3 cricket team and participated in the inter zonal championship.he is the winner in shortput event continuously from 2011

Samyuktha of CSE Department receives the torch. She was the Tamilnadu State Champion in speed skating. From the year 2001, she has been representing our state in National level competitions, conducted by the Roller-skating Federation of India. She has won the gold medal in 2010, bronze medal in 2009. She is one of the sports persons in the champion development scheme. Isnt it really encouraging to see such a wide variety of sports talents among our students. Yeah, Loyola is well known for its sports activities. Eminent sports stars like Viswanathan Anand, Vijay Amritraj, Ramesh Krishnan and many more internationally renowned sports personnel are from Loyola. Im sure, it will not be too long before LICET has its own list of Sports luminaries. As the Olympic torch arises, may the spirit of sportsmanship be lit up by its undying flames within us. Oath Taking : We now have Ajoy Infant Raj of Mechanical Engineering Department for oathtaking. Welcome Address Honoring Chief Guest Mr. K. Annual Sports Report: Sport truly embodies social cohesion. Continually growing and improving. The outstanding achievements of our students, the commitment of players, coaches, support staff and volunteers, and of course those cheering mums and dads, are all to be celebrated. Beyond the obvious health and activity benefits, aport can teach us much more It teaches about team work, how to get along with others, how to work to achieve the goal 4x100m Relay for Boys: Team work is the fuel that allows common people to produce uncommon results Events: Students demonstrations: Karate is an art of self defence. A karate demonstration called World in your fist is performed by ECE students, Madhana gopal, Anbarasu, David raj, Monisha and monisha. The exercise brings in fitness, Stamina & flexibility. Katas is an imaginary fighting sequence which gives endurance, agility, self control, courage and peace of mind. Assissikesi : is also a karate demonstration with nun-chaks, a very essential self protection method. Brick in hand increases moral power and mental strength. Fire brick : increases the ability to face the agony with will power.

Precedential address: CHIEF GUEST: Mr.Allaudin, IAS Were privileged to have with us today the most eminent personality Mr.K.Allaudin, IAS the Principal Secretary and Managing Director of Tamilnadu Small Industries Corporation. TANSI takes control of small scale units like Wooden and Steel Furniture units, Structural units, Engineering units and other special units on pumps and spirit based polish. It is the first corporation in the country to establish its presence in the small industries sector and he holds the very responsible position even at the level of policy making in it. Starting his education from St.Marys Higher Secondary School a Jesuit foundation in Dingugal, he had many laurels to his credit like he had been as Chairman and Managing Director of Tamilnadu Energy Development Agency and in Urban development. He is a man of interest with Renewable energy resources and was honored in IEEE chapter. Prize Distribution

Its time now to recognize the winners of the various team and individual events conducted today and throughout the last month. Yes, its that priceless moment a moment of pride and ecstasy for the victors and a celebration of team spirit for all their supporters. I take the privilege of inviting our Chief Guest Thiru K. Allaudin to distribute the prizes. Its so exciting to see the crowd cheering the winners of their Departments. Their sounds and hoots of revelry enliven the atmosphere with a festive mood. Here, at LICET, students are encouraged to develop the spirit of true sportsmanship, partaking in the games without being attached to results. Remember, success is not just a matter of talent and luck, but of perseverance and relentless practice. Now we call upon our future sports stars. Who are to acknowledged for their excellence. Vote of thanks: National anthem: No matter what the final score is. Win or lose! First or last! Its the time, that we spent on ground, the fun we had in our team, the push and pull, the pat and chat we had with our friends will forever, linger in our minds.

He is a national level athlete represented Tamil Nadu at Cochin and Manipur. Jacob bagged gold in high jump and silver in long jump at State and District level Competitions. He plays ball badminton and handball and has represented Tamil Nadu in Sepak Tekraw at Impal. He is the proud winner of LICET individual Championship for the year 2010-11.
