List of Solidarit Projects

This is a list of Solidarit undertaken by trainees. The activities range from social or sporting activities to serving the disabled and elderly. The activities show you what has been achieved and as an example of what is possible. They need Project Leaders and many have guidelines prepared by past-stagiaires for you to just take over. Sub-Committees can just link their activities to these or other ideas!

Hands-on Volunteer Work

Auxilia Volunteers teach different subjects to disabled, sick or socially excluded people.

Baby Sitting Provide a baby-sitting service for employees of the EU Institutions - connect it to promote a good cause.
CIR (Coordination et Initiatives pour les Rfugis et les trangers) Helping an an umbrella organisation for NGOs working with refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants. Cloak Room (Vestiaire) Organise the cloakroom at EU Institution social events to raise money and awareness for those in need. Clothes /Toys/Games/Book Collection A collection of clothes and/or games and books from EU Institution buildings to give to the poor. Convivial Support refugees and asylum seekers in Brussels through friendship and service. Flash Volunteering Getting together to help on a one-off opportunity to help somewhere, often in times of some urgency A conservation day in a forest, a play reading in an older people's home. L'Olivier Help asylum seekers when they first come to Belgium. Le Petit Chteau Helping asylum seekers and refugees in Brussels. Activities with families and children. Little Sisters of the Poor Hands-on community service with the Little Sisters of the Poor older people's home in Brussels. Missionnaires de la Charit: Help provide a meal and friendship for the homeless and people of disadvantaged backgrounds. Notre Dame aux Riches Claires Teaching computer skills and languages to immigrants. Pag-Asa Help victims of human trafficking. Material, educational, administrative, emotional support. Serve the City Volunteering on activities with Serve the City - a movement of volunteers around the world connecting with local opportunities to serve in our cities.

SMES-Europa Support a European network of NGOs helping people living in under social and mental health challenges. Solidarit Food Collection A basic food collection: one day, one Commission Building; for the Missionaries of Charity. Sugar and Soap Collection Teaming up together to simply organise the collection of raw sugar and soap to help those in need.

Awareness Raising Projects

20 Awareness Team A team whose goals is to raise awareness of Solidarit activities part of the Solidarit Public Relations. Promote, advertise, have an awareness week in Institution Buildings etc. Awareness Events Events have raised awareness of children in Belarus and children in Nepal for example. Book Promotion to support development in Nepal Books sold in assistance of the work of a Child Welfare Scheme in Nepal. Brussels Half Marathon Train and run as a huge team for a cause. Find a cause, raise awareness and money for it. Collaboration with activities of staff and stagiaire committees Connecting the support of others to regular activities. Past examples include connecting a paint-ball outing or a film to a cause, or a party in collaboration with stagiaires Environment Subcommittee Concerts with refugee and immigrant musicians Its all up to your imagination! Great to get policy-makers and refugees playing music together. Conferences and Debates Organising workshops, discussions and conferences to raise awareness about social issues. Dance: Hip Hop Dance Classes Dance Classes for a good cause raise awareness of polio victims. Dance: Rock n Roll Dance Classes Dance Classes for a good cause raise awareness and funds for a cause of your choice. Dance: Salsa Dance Classes Dance for a good cause through your dancing you raise awareness and funds for land mine victims. Dance: Tango Classes The aim is to combine our energy for fun activity and a good cause at the same! European Stagiaire Journal Trainees writing articles about humanitarian issues / Solidarit activities and events. Europe Third World (ETM) Awareness Campaigns / Co- operation Engage with ETM selecting and evaluating aid projects and raising awareness of the developing world. Fair Trade Organise Fair Trade awareness raising activities and products in the EU Institutions. Film / Films Festival Organise films / festival to raise awareness and or funds for a cause. Football Tournaments with Refugees Raising money and awareness of the circumstances that led to their exile.

Oxfam In addition to the Solidarit clothes, books and toy collection, where items are sometimes given to Oxfam, help Oxfam in their retail shops and at large events to promote humanitarian need and solutions. Petitions Petitions for causes. Photo Exhibitions A photography exhibition in the Institution buildings to highlight development, human rights and social issues. School Awareness Project Collaboration with Schools to raise awareness of the causes and realities humanitarian & social issues. Solar Solidarit Raise awareness of renewable energies to supply energy and protect the environment. Solidarit Calendar Produce a calendar to raise money and awareness of humanitarian and social issues and Solidarit. Solidarit Fashion Show A fashion show to raise money and awareness for humanitarian and social issues and to have a great time. Solidarit Paintball Championship Paintball Championship for a good cause simply fun way to raise awareness and funds for a cause of your choice. Perhaps inviting marginalised members of the community. Solidarit Parties and other Cultural events To raise awareness and money for humanitarian and social issues and to raise the profile of Solidarit. Solidarit Party Events Team Organising events at functions like face-painting, artistic tacts, sports, social activities to help the function. Raise awareness of and money for humanitarian and social issues, the profile of Solidarit & have fun. Solidarit Prayer Group People of all faiths or no faith, united. Prayer and meditation for peace, our world leaders, those in need, and the will to help them. Solidarit Pub Quiz Pub quizzes which also raise awareness of humanitarian and social issues. Solidarit Self-Defence Classes A very simple concept the classes are always associated with a specific cause to support. Solidarit Talent Show A very simple concept a talent show to support a cause, with those in need, on a positive theme whatever you like. Invite MEPS, break down barriers; celebrate. Book Sales Usually in conjunction with a large book collection of unwanted books from staff and trainees.
