The promise of warm weather, sunny skies, and longer days always makes people start
longing for the end of winter. As we wind up these cold winter months, start planning ahead
for a summer full of fun and excitement with the Champaign Park District! Look inside these
pages to see what thrills await you. The unveiling of the newly restored Virginia Theatre, the
completon of the last phase of development on the new Sunset Ridge Park and programs
and special events for the whole family will easily chase away those winter blues. Make
plans now to take advantage of all the low cost optons for you and your family this summer
with the Champaign Park District. You dont have to travel to far of lands to enjoy your

The Champaign Park District is a special district of local government with its own fnancial
and legal responsibilites. It is governed by fve elected residents of Champaign who give
their services to the community. The Park Board holds its regular meetngs on the second
Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Bresnan Meetng Center, 706 Kenwood Road.
Residents are invited to atend and are welcome to make suggestons or comments to
improve the programs or facilites ofered. The Champaign Park Districts 58 parks total over
576 acres. Thirteen facilites are available for a wide variety of recreatonal opportunites.

Payment Information
Although the cost of attending any
Champaign Park District camp is afford-
able, we understand that it may be
diffcult to pay all costs up front. Because
of this, we require at least a $10 non-
refundable deposit per child, per session
to hold a spot. The remainder will be due
two weeks before camp begins.
Day Camp Cancellation/Refund Policy:
A chance to cancel from an all day camp
without paying more than the required
deposit will only be given through fve
(5) business days before the start of the
session. After that, the full fee will be
charged to the participant, and the spot
in the class will be opened to those on
the waiting list.

Sholem Aquatic Center
From open swim times to learn-to-
swim programs, after-hours rentals
to all inclusive birthday parties,
the Sholem Aquatic Center is the
areas premier place to beat the
summer heat! This years season runs
from Saturday, May 25 Monday,
September 2 with limited hours when
Unit 4 schools are in session.
Sholem Aquatic Center is jam-
packed with great features that are
guaranteed to make a splash:
The Beach is 8,000 sq. feet of fun
including a zero depth entry, play
and spray features, and dump
buckets thats sure to make waves
with your family and friends.
The Puddle is made for our littlest
swimmers and features a zero-
depth entry, a slide thats just right
for little tykes, and plenty of seat-
ing and shade for mom and dad.
The Sea is our crystal clear, always
cool, 8-lane 25-yard lap pool.
The Rapids is a 660-ft winding
tube ride designed to guarantee
fun in the sun.
The Falls is a 170-ft tube slide
thatll spin you down, twirl you
around, and splash you and your
tube out into The Rapids.
The Plunge and Blue Rush are our
twin enclosed body slides. Each is
197-ft of fun that spirals you into
the splash pool before you can say
sun-sational! (Must be at least
42 tall to ride).
The Oasis concession stand offers
great eats and treats at reasonable
prices with plenty of seating in the
sun or shade.
Sholem Aquatic Center patrons
are protected vigilantly by our
internationally-recognized and
award winning Jeff Ellis & Associ-
ates lifeguard team.
Coast-Guard approved lifejackets
are available for use free of charge
for adults and children.

Reduced Public Hours
This year we will be open 4-7pm on weekdays
from May 28 until Unit 4 lets out for the sum-
mer. After August 23, we will operate only
on weekends through Labor Day. Once Unit
4 is back in session, it is possible that not all
attractions will be open. Please call ahead if
you are counting on a certain attraction.

Swim lessons can save a life, build a childs confdence, and introduce little ones to a lifelong habit of water exercise. Our carefully selected
instructors make up the only Jeff Ellis Swimming (JES) certifed staff in the area, and our curriculum is expertly planned by our team of ex-
perienced coordinators. Whether your child is fearful of the water or just wants to perfect a particular stroke, we have the right class for you!
Our highest priority is to provide all swim lesson participants with a safe and comfortable place to learn swimming skills that are
appropriate for their needs and abilities. Upon registration, we will ask that you choose the lesson level that best fts your child. The
suggested ages listed are merely designed to serve as a guide but should not be the main determinant in selecting a class for your child.

Morning Water Aerobics

Junior Lifeguard Academy
Ages11-15
The primary purpose of the Junior Lifeguard Academy is to
increase participants self-confdence, physical conditioning,
and safety awareness by providing a thorough introduction to
water safety, frst aid and aquatic rescue techniques. All Junior
Lifeguard Academy instructors are veteran members of our
award-winning lifeguard team, well-versed in water safety, and
passionate about teaching and mentoring young people. The goal
of this program is to provide participants with the skills neces-
sary to apply for lifeguarding positions with the Champaign Park
District after they turn 16. Participants must be able to swim 25
yards comfortably in a reasonable amount of time, and should
also have an interest in learning about aquatic rescue techniques.

Farm Tours

Bring your kids to check out our kids (baby goats)
and other aspects of the farm. Educational tours of
Prairie Farm are offered every morning, depending
on availability. Tours are 45 minutes in length and
include close contact with the animals. Schedule
your tour at least one week in advance by calling
217-398-2583. Reservations begin booking May 26.

Prairie Farm features traditional farm animals such
as sheep, pigs, goats, horses, cows, chickens, and
geese. No admission is charged, but donations to

trolley rides vary. In the event of inclement weather,

Pie Run (3.14 miles)

Whether you want to work up an appetite before
Taste of Champaign-Urbana or youre a pie lover
with a running habit, this fun event was cooked
up with you in mind! Pie Run will take you on a
3.14 mile course that starts and ends at the Taste of
Champaign-Urbana festival in West Side Park. Along
the way well treat you to water and pie stops pro-
vided by your favorite local bakeries and restaurants.
At the end of the race, youll choose to fnish either
pie free or fying pie. Those who choose the
pie free fnishing lane will remain clean and dry.
Those who choose the fying pie fnishing lane will
have to dodge fying cream pies to fnish the race
and will receive special recognition for their bravery!
So put on your jogging shoes and bring your sweet

Test your athletic ability with the Champaign Park Districts 31st annual
Mini-Triathlon. This chip-timed event will consist of an approximate 400
yard swim in our lap pool at Sholem Aquatic Center, a six mile bike ride,
and 2 mile run. Age categories for male and female are: 14 and under, 15-19,
20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59 and 60+. Based on the partici-
pant feedback, we have made some changes to the Chip Timing System we
will be using this year. The overall quality will be improved, and we know
you will enjoy the changes. Start times are based on order of registration. If
you want early start time, you must register early. If you want to race with
someone, you must register at the same time. T-shirts will be unisex dri-ft
with the following adult sizes available: S, M, L, XL. Race packets will be

Join the fun! Our t-ball program is a crowd pleaser. Families often come
out and turn it into a picnic. In T-Ball Instructional Clinic participants
learn the basics of baseball, such as catching, throwing, and hitting.

Go Cobras! This marks the eighth year the Champaign Park District and national
softball powerhouse Parkland College have partnered together to offer a fast-pitch camp.
The camp has grown better every year. Coach Chuck Clutts has earned multiple CCCI
Coach of the Year Awards and coached numerous college All-Americans. Meet and
train with current players.
Pre-Registration will be done through Parkland College. See http://www.parkland.

First Kicks (ages 3-4) is a fun introduction to the very basic elements of the game. Small
coaching groups, lots of running, kicking, laughing and new friends. July camp only.
Mini Soccer (ages 4-6) offers a chance to learn and develop basic skills, team concepts
and fun habits. Emphasis on a variety of fun teaching activities.
Half Day Recreational (ages 6-11) develops individual foot skills, technical practices,
tactical progressions and small sided games.
Half Day Competitive (8-14) is for the more advanced player. These sessions offer some
of the same skill building as the Half Day Recreational with a much stronger emphasis on
competition and advanced play.
The Half Day Girls (ages 10-14) is a cross between the Half Day Competitive and the
Full Day sessions. It provides senior female players a chance to work on their game in a
girls-only environment.
Full Day sessions (ages 10-14) are for the senior players and include a high level of
individual skill building, tactical instruction, and an emphasis on highly competitive
game related activities.
Goalkeeper sessions (ages 8-18) are for those hands on kids. Sessions will go through
basic techniques including positioning, hand placement, collapse dive and extended dive.
A minimum of six keepers is needed for this camp to run. July camp only.

Cavalier Fencing Camps

En garde! Looking for something more than just the same old sports
camp? Add some excitement to your summer vacation with the
Cavalier Fencing Camps. We have a variety of camp experiences for
the beginner to the experienced fencer. Fencers will spend the week
playing games and learning footwork, blade technique, tactics, and
the principles of competitive fencing in short, everything you need to know about the
sport. Fencers should come dressed to work hard in loose clothing (no denim jeans) and
tennis shoes. All fencing equipment is provided.
All camps are taught by Liz Mayerich. Liz began fencing at Texas A&M University in
2002. She coached at Salle Mauro Fencing Academy in Houston, Texas, is a certifed
instructor with the United States Fencing Coaches Association and serves as the Head
Coach for the Cavaliers Youth Program at The Point Fencing Club & School.
BEGINNING FENCING CAMP
This camp will introduce all the basics of fencing to boys and girls ages 8 to 12 years
old. Learn to move your feet and your blade just like (or almost like) pirates in the mov-
ies! We will teach you everything you need to know about foil fencing and play lots of
fun fencing games.
ADVANCED FENCING CAMP
Boys and girls with previous fencing experience can refne their techniques at this week-
long youth camp. Those who have participated in another fencing camp or in one of
the Points Cavalier classes are welcome to attend. Well play all the great games youve
enjoyed all along, plus introduce saber and epee fencing. On the last day of camp well
hold a tournament so you can show off your skills.

Strike! Bowling Camp is back and better than
ever. This years camp features an emphasis
on individual instruction, more bowling time,
and developing and tracking bowlers through-
out the week. Instructional topics include:
proper bowling approach; arm swing and
grip; lane conditions and making adjustments;
and picking up spares. Kids will bowl a
minimum of two games each day. Parents are
invited to join on Friday for trophy presenta-
tions, cosmic music and bowling, and pizza!

Lacrosse is an exciting and fast paced sport that is taking the country by storm.

posted on the racqueting board at each
court site. All court changes are made
on the hour. Champaign Park District
tennis programs will primarily be held
at Lindsay, Hessel, and Blair Courts
(Urbana). Program times will be posted

court use. All other Champaign Park

Organization & Locations of Programs
Programs are offered for all ages and levels and allow for a
progression from Beginner to Advanced Levels throughout the
summer. Each session is comprised of 6 classes (2 classes per
week for 3 weeks.) Please note that classes are held at both
Champaign and Urbana locations.
Lindsay Courts: Sangamon Dr. in Centennial Park, Champaign
Hessel Park: Kirby & Grandview, Champaign
Blair Park: Vine & Florida, Urbana
Class Minimums
If classes fall short of minimum numbers, we reserve the right
to restructure classes.
Equipment
Dont have a racquet? The Champaign Park District has junior
racquets that you can borrow for the frst week. Anyone can
demo and purchase racquets at the Champaign Park District
Tennis Center (217-352-6044).
Registration/Make-Up Procedures
Please register at least one week in advance of the beginning
of each program. All fees for programs are due at the time
of registration, with the exception of workouts and various
drop-in programs. Fees will not be pro-rated due to participant
absence.
In the event of inclement weather, a decision as to whether
class will be held will be made at the program site by the
instructor. Whenever possible, tennis information will also be
made available on the CPD Leisure Line at 217-398-2589.
In the event a class is cancelled due to poor weather, facility,
or staff issues, class make-ups will be held at the regularly
scheduled times during the week following the end of a
session. Outdoor programs will be cancelled if the temperature
or heat index is above 110 degrees.

The CPD hayrack is available for

Champaign Bark District
Location: Southeast Corner of Windsor and Rising Road
Hours: Open daily from dawn to dusk seven days per week year round
The Champaign Bark District is a 7-acre space for your dog to run off-leash and interact with
other dogs and humans. This park features a 4 foot fence, double-gated entry area, separate
areas for large and small dogs, parking lot, drinking fountains, and dog waste stations.
Bark District Membership
Dog Park membership carries with it responsibilities to all Dog Park users and the public
at large. Not all dogs are good candidates for Dog Park play and interaction with a wide
cross section of dogs. If your dog is shy about meeting new people, children, or dogs, it
might not be a good candidate for the Dog Park. In addition, Dog Park users must be able
to maintain control over their dogs even when off leash. All dogs at the Dog Park should
be responsive to their owners calls.
Purchase a one-year membership for your dog at the Bresnan Meeting Center or Springer
Cultural Center. Users found without proper membership tags will be asked to leave and
may forfeit future park privileges. Bark District memberships are reciprocal with Urbana
Park Districts dog park, so your membership is valid at both dog parks.
Visitors may enter by paying a $5 admission fee at the park. The Champaign Park District
staff monitors the dog park regularly to ensure that park users are properly registered and
identifed. Users found without proper registration will be asked to leave and may forfeit
any future park privileges.

Obtain the following information it is required to complete your membership registration.
1. County registration form (or other proof of rabies vaccination) Current vaccination
record from the vet (proof of distemper vaccination)

For most kids, summertime means day
camps, swim lessons, sports programs
and outdoor play. These are all activities
that expand the mind, exercise the
body, boost spirit and provide for social
growth and exploration. Unfortunately
in our community, hundreds of children
each year miss out on these critical
opportunities due to economic hardship of
their families.
According to the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services, regular
physical activity:
Helps build and maintain healthy bones
and muscles.
Helps reduce the risk of developing
obesity and chronic diseases, such as
diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and
colon cancer.
Reduces feelings of depression and
anxiety and promotes psychological
well-being.
May help improve students academic
performance.
Every year the park district
receives hundreds of requests
for fnancial assistance from
residents who cannot afford to
pay the fees for their children
to participate in our programs.
The Champaign Parks Foun-
dation collects donations and
manages this fund from which
program fee waivers can be
provided to the children of
families facing economic hard-
ship. Last year over 200 children benefted from nearly
$40,000 in fee waivers. Unfortunately, without your help,
fewer children will receive these benefts in 2013.

Fiddler on the Roof JR

In the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman tries to instill
in his fve daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community
in the face of ever-changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism
of Czarist Russia.
Fiddler on the Roof JR is presented as a special edition of one of Broad-
ways great masterpieces and is a wonderful introduction to the world
of musical theatre. Its celebrated score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon
Harnick features songs loved the world over. Young performers at all
experience levels will enjoy its elements of humor, warmth and honesty.
Features a large cast with a good balance of male and female roles.
All children registered for the program will be cast into roles in the
play and spend time every day learning the music and working with
the directors to present the show. They will also learn theater basics
like selecting costumes, understanding stage directions, proper use of
stage make up, projecting to the crowd, and other introductory theater
training. There will also be time for some extra fun with a special
recreational activity planned daily. Children must be registered before
auditions and parent meeting.
Performances will be at Parkland College Theatre, July 11-13.

Dance wear varies depending on which class a student is
enrolled in. Specifc dance wear information may be picked up at
the Springer Cultural Center.
Dance Fee Payment
Fees may be paid in full at registration, or pay half the cost of
each class upon registration and pay the remainder in full by
July 10, 2013. If full payment is not made by July 10, a $10 late
fee per class will be assessed.
The fee for a single 1 hour technique class is $10/$15. The fee
for a single 1 hour technique class is $13/$19.50. The fee for a
single 1 hour technique class is $15/$22.50. The fee for a single

Te Dance Arts School
The Dance Arts School teaches classes in Creative
Movement, Irish Dance and Ballet. The ballet school
is certifed by the Royal Academy of Dance based in
London, England, and is the only certifed ballet training
school in the state of Illinois. We train our students using
the internationally acclaimed Royal Academy of Dance
syllabus, a worldwide ballet training program focused on
teaching classical ballet techniques in a manner that is safe
for our dancers growing bodies.
In 2003, Dance Arts added Irish Dance to its curriculum.
Students are taught a warm up, proper Irish Dance
technique, and a cool down that is safe for each age and
ability level.
Our Faculty
The ballet faculty members have each received
professional training and collectively represent a wide
spectrum of performance and educational backgrounds.
Our Irish Dance instructors are championship level
dancers from the Sullivan School of Irish Dance, Mayer
School of Irish Dance, and Trinity Academy of Irish Dance
in Chicago. The ballet accompanists are professionally
trained pianists with specialties in performance, theory,
composition, and more. The expertise of both the
instructors and accompanists greatly enhances the quality
of the school.

Our Creative Movement classes are for our youngest dancers.
Jumping in puddles and soaring like birds, the students will move
through their imagination in a fun flled class that will strengthen
their gross motor skills. Classwork will also include exercises to help
with coordination, body and spatial awareness. Students may wear
leotards with proper ballet shoes or comfortable clothing with bare
feet. Hair should be pulled off the face into a ponytail.

Fine motor skills are addressed as the students become more confdent
in their movement. This class will incorporate fundamentals of
formal dance training with marching, jumping, and skipping with
stretched feet. Imagination will take fight as the students learn to

Tree&Flower
Programs
Growing Together
The Growing Together Tree is a program for parents
or soon-to-be parents to adopt a tree that has been planted in a
park during the year of your new childs birth. Together they
grow: child and tree. You will receive an infant t-shirt and a map
with your trees location.
Adopt-A-Tree
We invite tree lovers to Adopt-A-Tree in their
neighborhood park. A tree can be adopted by
individuals, families, scout troops, church groups,
or service organizations. Adoption can involve watering the
tree, spreading mulch, or keeping an eye open for vandalism or
disease. You will receive a map with your trees location.
Retirement Tree
Plant a living, growing retirement gift for the newly retired
friend, relative, or co-worker to celebrate a successful career and
a new phase of life. The retiree will receive a map with the trees
location and a certifcate. Call for current fees.
Memorial Trees
A tree is planted in memory of a loved one. Call for current fees.
Flower Islands
The Flower Island program is a cooperative beautifcation effort
between local businesses and the Park District. This unique
program allows businesses to have a personal fower bed near their
site and to assist with the sponsorship of beds on public property
(e.g. parks, schools, library, right-of-ways, etc.)
Each year the local business pays a fee to the Park District. Half
this amount contributes to the cost of their bed(s) and the remain-
der is used for the Flower Islands on public property. Hence, they
enhance the beauty of the community twice. Services included for
the annual fee are design, bed preparation, planting, maintenance,
and fall removal.

The Adopt-A-Park program was developed by the
Champaign Park District in 1982 after a class at Robeson
Elementary School inquired about adopting the park near
their school.
The purpose of the program is to encourage people in a
park neighborhood to assume some responsibilities for
their adopted park. This helps maintain and program the
park above the level that the Champaign Park District is
able to achieve on its own. Adopted parks build community
support and often become the focal point of neighborhood
activities. The park programs beneft both the Park District
and the adopting group.

The Eddie Albert Garden plots are for everyone, from the
experienced gardener to the beginner. Plots are available
in two sizes, with elevated plots provided for participants
with disabilities. The gardening season offcially begins
on or about April 2. Water will be turned on mid April.
All plots must be cleared by October 21. Spring till is the
responsibility of the plot renter. Registration for those who
had gardens in 2012 begins December 3. New gardeners
may enroll beginning December 10.

Informaton
Regulations
Park
Park regulations help to create and
maintain a safe and healthy environment
in all parks and facilities. Please abide by
these regulations.
Pets are allowed in the park when on a
leash. Please clean up after your pet.
Alcohol is not permitted in parks or
facilities.
Park only in designated areas. Driving
on the grass or through the parks is
prohibited.
Fires are allowed in proper receptacles
only. Avoid leaving hot coals on the
ground or in grills.
Parks close according to posted signs.
Vandals will be prosecuted and must
reimburse the Park District for any
damages.
A complete list of park regulations is
available at the Bresnan Meeting Center.
Canoes
Personal canoes and kayaks may be used
on Park District lakes as long as they are
registered with the Illinois Department of
Conservation.
Rentals
Pavilions
Centennial and Hessel Park pavilions are available for private parties or reunions from
mid-April through mid-October. Reservation requires a signed agreement, damage
deposit, and rental fee which must be received by the Park District a minimum of 2
weeks prior to the scheduled date of usage or rental automatically cancels and results in
the pavilion reverting to a frst come, frst serve basis for the time in question. Non-
residents may reserve the shelter three weeks in advance at double the fee. Reservations
for the pavilions will be accepted beginning in January.

Champaign Park District facilities are available for organizational or private group
meetings.

in this brochure represent those at the time of publication. Sometimes changes are
necessary after publication, but prior to program commencement or facility operation.

Code of Conduct
All participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times while
participating, spectating, or attending any program or activity sponsored by the
Champaign Park District. This includes participation in programs which may or may
not require an admission fee, spectating at athletic events, concerts, or attending special
events. The following guidelines are designed to provide safe and enjoyable activities for
all participants. Additional Codes of Conduct may apply for particular programs such as
day camps, athletic leagues, and the aquatic facilities.
Participants shall:
1. Show respect to all participants and program staff and/or supervisors.
2. Take direction from program staff/supervisors.
3. Refrain from using abusive or foul language.
4. Refrain from causing bodily harm to self, other participants or program staff/supervisors.
5. Refrain from damaging equipment, supplies, and facilities.
Failure to abide by the Code of Conduct may result in loss of Park District privileges.

Photographs
Frequently, the Park District takes video
or photographs of people enjoying
programs, special events, parks, or facilities.
These photographs are for Park District
promotions, marketing, and related award
entries. They are used at the Park Districts
discretion and become its sole property.
If a registered participant wishes to be
excluded from any photographs, they may
do so in writing to the Champaign Park
District Marketing Department, or by simply
stepping away from the camera or notifying
the photographer.
Weather Cancellations
Programs may be cancelled due to inclement weather or unusable facilities. A decision
regarding cancellation will be made two hours prior to the scheduled starting time
for high school/adult programs and one hour prior to the start of youth programs.
If deteriorating conditions force on-site cancellations, information will be put on
the Leisure Line (217-398-2589) as soon as possible. A Champaign Park District
representative will remain on-site until the next scheduled event to inform participants
of the cancellation.
Affliate groups are clubs and organizations sponsored by the
Champaign Park District. Each group is fnancially
self-sustaining, self governing, and over-seen by CPD staff.

enrollment is almost high enough to
conduct a class, the registration dead-
line may be extended. If you missed the

Fees: Non-Resident Option
Program participants living outside the
boundaries of the Champaign and Urbana
Park Districts have an option of paying 50%
more than the resident rates for each program
registration or paying a yearly fee and the
resident fee for each program.
The yearly fee is computed on the assessed
valuation of the non-residents home. The
yearly fee is this valuation multiplied by
the current tax rate of the Champaign Park
District. The term of the payment coverage is
from May 1 to April 30 of the following year.
A person wishing to pay the yearly fee should
bring a copy of the most recent tax bill to the
Bresnan Meeting Center for computation of
the fee. To receive the same privilege, non-
resident renters may pay a fat fee of $50.
The non-resident annual fee option is not
available to persons residing adjacent to the
Park District boundaries. They, however, have
the option of annexing their property into the
Champaign Park District.
Registration Dates
Register in person at any Champaign Park
District facility, by mail, or online at
Champaign & Urbana Park District residents
may begin registering immediately.
Non-resident registration begins Monday,
March 25, 2013.

Non-Resident (R/NR)
Residents living within the boundaries of the
park district regularly support park facilities
and programs through property taxes. People
living within the Champaign and Urbana
Park District boundaries pay the resident
(R) fee. Persons residing outside these
districts will pay 50% more than the resident
rates non-resident (NR). Fees charged
for programs are used to offset part of the
costs for special instructors, facility costs, and
program supplies.

Dishonored Checks
A $25 service charge will be assessed
on all checks returned by the bank for
any reason.
Program Waiting Lists
Programs may fll. If this is the case,
please ask to be placed on a waiting list.
Program Scholarships
Because some residents are unable to
participate in recreation programs due
to economic hardship, the Champaign
Park District offers scholarships to
reduce certain fees and charges.
Scholarship applicants are not guar-
anteed fund availability, program
registration, or choice of program
location. Early applications are given
priority. Applications are available at
the Bresnan Meeting Center and can
be mailed upon request. Need is the
primary criterion upon which scholar-
ship applicants are considered.
Child Care Resource
Service (CCRS)
CCRS helps income-eligible parents who
are working and/or going to school to
pay for their child care. Based on par-
ents family size and income, working
families whose incomes are at or below
50% of the state median income level
may be eligible to apply. Processing can
take up to 10 business days. Please pick
up an application from CCRS.

Program Cancellations/
Refunds
Day Camps: A chance to cancel from an
all-day camp without paying more than the
required deposit will only be given through
fve (5) business days before the start of
the session. After that, the full fee will be
charged to the participant and the spot in
the class will be opened to those on the
waiting list.
Preschool Programs with Monthly Billing:
Two weeks notice in writing is required, or
guardians are responsible for payment for
the following month. More information is
given in the Preschool Handbook.
All Other Programs: Refunds will be given
only through the second meeting of any
program, unless otherwise noted above.
There will be a $5 service charge due to
participant cancellation (per participant/
per occurrence) unless otherwise noted.
Exceptions: If the District cancels a
program due to minimum registration not
being met, full refunds will be given. Pro-
rated amounts will be refunded to partici-
pants if a class is cancelled by the District
after it has begun. If a participant experi-
ences a medical problem which prohibits
program participation, the refund will be a
prorated amount based on the number of
sessions remaining in the program.

WAIvER AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Please read this form carefully and be aware that in signing up and participating in the identifed programs/activities, you will be
expressly assuming the risk and legal liability and waiving and releasing all claims for injuries, damages or loss which you or your minor
child/ward might sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with and associated with said programs/activities
(including transportation services/vehicle operation, when provided).
I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury to participants in these programs/activities, and I voluntarily
agree to assume the full risk of any and all injuries, damages or loss, regardless of severity, that my minor child/ward or I may sustain as
a result of said participation. I further agree to waive and relinquish all claims I or my minor child/ward may have (or accrue to me or
my child/ward) as a result of participating in these program/activities against Champaign Park District, Champaign and Urbana Special
Recreation, Urbana Park District, and the Village of Savoy, including their respective offcials, offcers, employees, and volunteers.

Champaign Park District is committed to conducting its recreation
programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of
participants in high regard. Champaign Park District continually
strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow
safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect the
participants safety. However, participants and parents/guardians
of minors registering for Park District programs/activities must
recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to
participate in recreational activities/programs.
You are solely responsible for determining if you or your minor
child/ward are physically ft and/or skilled for the activities
contemplated by this agreement. It is always advisable, especially
if the participant is pregnant, disabled in any way or recently
suffered illness, injury or impairment, to consult a physician before
undertaking any physical activity.
WARNING OF RISK
Recreational activities/programs are intended to challenge
and engage the physical, mental and emotional resources
of each participant. Despite careful and proper preparation,
instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment,
there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in
any recreational activity/program. Understandably, not
all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. Depending on
the particular activity, participants must understand that
certain risks, dangers and injuries due to inclement weather,
slipping, falling, poor skill level or conditioning, careless-
ness, horseplay, unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects,
inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision,
instruction or offciating, and all other circumstances inher-
ent to indoor and outdoor recreational activities/programs
exist. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impos-
sible to guarantee absolute safety.
