What is a pronoun?
A pronoun is a word we use instead of saying someones or somethings name. 1. Dan likes to play ping pong. He likes to play ping pong 2. Sarah will win the game. She will win the game. 3. The boys will play after Anna. The boys will play after her. 4. I want to play with John. I want to play with him.
Pronoun Sort
One of the most difficult aspects of pronouns for students is gender agreement. Cut out the noun tiles provided. Ask the students if the noun is male or female and place it in the correct table. This activity may be used at centers, as an intervention, game, etc.

Pronoun Mats
You and your students may use the provided pronoun mats to organize the given sentence strips. Each mat has a student icon that corresponds to a particular set of sentences, that way if a student is still having difficulty choosing the correct pronoun, they can have the visual cue of matching the icons. Simply read the sentence and decide which pronoun would best be used in place of the underlined noun. Place the sentence strip on the mat for the pronoun that would best replace the noun and then have student read the sentence using the pronoun. This can be done as a center or intervention activity.

The following worksheets are a chance for your students to demonstrate their new knowledge of pronouns. The worksheets are progressive so that your students can further solidify how to correctly use pronouns. They will address pronoun gender agreement and placement.
