Task two: Define 'designer products'.

Designer products are products that are made by notorious companies: meaning that they named brands How are they different to 'normal' products? Designer products are name brands, meaning that name brands are better than other brands Why do we want designer products? People want designer producer To look good, and feel expensive
How do designer products make people feel? Designer products makes people feel better than everyone: meaning they have more money than others

What does design say about personal identity? (How does someone identify themselves with certain designs) Someone would identify himself has as fresh

Task 3:

Identify a client who you will sell your speakers to. Interview your client and take photos to show the setting for where the speakers will be used and or placed. Make list of the interview questions you will ask. what clolor what shape what quality how big what type

Task 4: (approximately 200 words) Outline Design Brief. Write a design brief outlining the needs, of your chosen client. Talk about the physical environment in which they will be used; the style of the room, physical space, indoor or outdoor, portable/computer/wall mountable? age/gender of users... You will be making "designer" speakers. What will make them designer? Will they be: Quirky & fun Industrial Traditional Anthropomorphized etc. He want his speakers to be 5 by 5 Sterdy Blue and black Good quality Steel and wood Very loud Work good with R&B Box shape

Task 5: Develop A Design Brief. Write guiding questions: what do you need to understand in order to complete this design task? This will be different for all of you. Only research what you need to for your design situation. Use Primary and secondary sources of information (where possible). Visit the site where they will/could be used, take photos/measurements, interview a client... Evaluate your sources. eg if a review site, is it reputable? If 'Instructables' who was the author? If Wikipedia, can the info be confirmed? If a 'Designer'' site, what are they selling?

Task 6:

Conduct a product analysis into similar products. (speakers as well as 'designer' products.) Perhaps use Pinterest to create a 'mood-board' of speakers and designer products. Take a screenshot of your mood-board and paste it into your Investigate document. Image examples of mood-boards

Research into: speaker design, how speakers work, construction techniques, (3D printing, soldering) bass reflex, acoustics, resonance. etc. The practical and functional aspects of making speakers. LINK for help with Product Analysis. Justify and fully reference your sources, use Easybib for assistance. For each secondary source (eg a website) evaluate on its value/reliability. Have you used only secondary sources? Are these sites reliable? How do you know? Please gather as much information from primary sources as possible. (bibliography) Task 7: Summarize your research...can you 'answer' your guiding questions? What have you discovered about designer products and indeed speaker design? designer speakers are good quality, they have better designs and they are used by a lot of people.

Task 8: Formulate a Design Specification. Divide your specification into 2 columns; Desired and Required. List the specific requirements of your client. eg: Must be sleek and futuristic Must complement the design of my office. Should be lightweight and durable etc. Must be sturdy, and strong Must be good quality Must be loud Must look good List the requirements of good aesthetics/design Describe the practical requirements/function. Perhaps use Dieter Ram's "Good design is...." Perhaps use Alessi Design Formula Design and explain multiple tests for your completed product. How will you know it is 'designer' How will you know if they meet the needs of your client? How will they perform? Under what conditions?
