he point of todays first reading is fulfillment. The forty-year trek of the Israelites is over; they now camp in the Promised Land and celebrate the Passover. The manna that has sustained them in the desert ends; from now on they will eat of the produce of the land. Our Eucharistthe manna of our journeywill end when we enter heaven. Paul, in the second reading, speaks of change. The old order has passed away: all is new. Reconciliation has been secured in Christ. The message has to be proclaimed everywhere by the ambassadors for Christ. The beautiful parable of the prodigal son is given to us by Christ in answer to the criticism of the Pharisees, This man welcomes sinners and eats with them. Jesus tells the story not to illustrate some vague human ideal of being broadminded or tolerant. He wants us to identify the father with Goda God who reaches out across rules, regulations, and even common sense to embrace and to forgive.

If you have paper that is clean on one side, has nothing inappropriate printed on the other side, and is flat (not bent or curled), and has not been stapled, we can use it! If you have letterhead that can no longer be used, we can use it! From the Pastors Desk

Taking part in the Liturgy of the Word during Masses we all take notice that the readings and the Gospel repeat in a cyclical pattern. A three year sequence is found in the Liturgical Calendar. This year is C which means that next liturgical year (which starts with Advent) is year A, which in turn is followed by year B, and another year C and so forth. The pattern is especially noticeable when we encounter highly familiar readings during certain times of the year such as when we hear the parable of the prodigal son. Even though we may all be familiar with the contents of the parable, it is always a good idea to hear the parable again as it is always applicable to our lives. Every day someone leaves the way of the Lord and another returns. The same happens in our lives which have smaller and larger deviations from proper behavior or times when we may follow the instructions of our faith to a larger or smaller degree. Consequently, we should always yearn to hear the story again so that we may be affirmed in our belief that the Lord will always accept a repentant son or daughter. The Lord is always willing to forgive and will not permanently cast anyone out. Let us pray that this image of the loving and compassionate Father always remain in our minds and especially during the season of Lent, our Lenten retreat, and Lenten confessions. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to fully participate in our special Lenten Retreat. It will include special homilies and there will also be additional opportunities for confession. The English language retreat will include a homily by Fr. Joe Mol this weekend and also a penance service and confessions on Monday, March 11 at 7:00pm in church and Mass on Tuesday, March 12 at 7:00pm in the chapel. I want to thank you for your generosity to our parish especially recently when we met our weekly budget goal again. That is good news. The bad news is that our church roof is leaking again in a few places including the new gathering space. We checked the roof and made repairs not a long time ago but it looks like we need to review the inspection once again. Im going to meet with the insurance, Archdiocese representatives, our renovation and finance committees this week. I will ask them to approve the renovation report that will be printed in the next bulletin and also for advice on what we should do as the next step or our church renovation. We cannot do any farther interior renovation until we make sure that we have a good or new roof.

Respect Life
While there are many evils rampant in our time, many threats to human life and dignity, and while we must be concerned about them all, I remain convinced that abortion can rightly be called the primal evil of our time. It is always gravely immoral. Its victims are among the most vulnerable and defenseless members of the human family. Since Roe v. Wade, 47 million human lives have been destroyed before birth or during the birth process. Hundreds of thousands of women have been traumatized by abortion. Many men grieve because they could not protect an unborn child they helped to bring into being. Abortion is the most striking and profound symptom of the abyss into which the ethics of much of the United States, indeed, the world, has fallen

Z Biurka Ks. Proboszcza...

Niech ten obraz miosiernego i kochajcego Ojca towarzyszy nam w czasie tego wielkiego postu, w czasie rekolekcji a zwaszcza w czasie spowiedzi witej.
