Baguio ngayon. [A traveler] would know you are near [Baguio] when you smell the pine trees. The mountains were full of flowers and they were green. Now they are full of houses, sabi niya.

Thats exactly the same as the RH law, ani Bastes. I hope that in the end, that law will be abolished. Im happy. To the lay people, let us continue our campaign against the RH bill, particularly in the coming elections in May.

There were many bishops (who were removed)... I think about seven or eight whose misbehavior reached the Holy Father through the apostolic nuncio,

sabi ni Cruz sa isang panayam. The reasons (behind the resignations that) I knew were sexual reasons, one was obedience and another was administration. Sometimes a bishop does not know how to administer a (diocese) so there is chaos in its management, aniya.

Ate Guy, Manoy bag acting honors in AFA

The film directed by the often-censored Lou Ye tells the story of a middle-age woman who plans to take revenge on her husband after discovering his infidelity. Lou said backstage Monday night that the award was an encouragement to the whole team, including photographers and art directors. Mystery also took home the award for best newcomer, Qi Xi, and best screenwriters. The Philippines topped the acting categories. Nora Aunor was named best actress for Thy Womb, and 87-year-old Eddie Garcia was named best actor for Bwakaw. Aunor thanked the AFA and her fans at home in the Philippines, while Garcia said he was elated and honored for his win. He also took home the peoples choice award for favorite actor. Japans Kitano Takeshi was named best director for Outrage Beyond but did not attend. Malaysian-born actress Michelle Yeoh, previously named recipient of the Excellence in Asian Cinema Award, called herself an extremely lucky gal. Ive worked with truly the best of directors, not just in Asia but around the world, she said. I do believe that the harder you work, the luckier you get

Gender and sexuality

TINTIN Bersolas article published last week on philstar.com raised a lot of questions and a lot of eyebrows from within and outside the gay community. In it, she shared her interview with psychiatrist Dr. Camille Garcia of TV5s Face to Face. Ang intention nung article is to guide parents on what to do kapag nagpakita ng signs ang anak nila that they are gay. Tintin Bersola begins by saying she does not believe being gay is a plague. But the article causes mixed emotions pagdating sa part kung saan nakasaad na ayon kay Garcia, homosexuality can be corrected as long as the parents convince children of what is right. Sensitive topic talaga. And of course being gay myself, I cant entirely comment without any bias pero I just want to share my thoughts on the matter. Garcia later on advised parents to tell their kids what the right thing is and that true gayness emerges sa pubertal stage pa lang and pagkaeffeminate in the early years is still not a sign of being gay. So in effect, the impression of this part to me is that if a child turns out to be gay, then there must be some sort of failure on the part of the parent by not being able to arrest their childs gayness from progressing? With all due respect to Garcia, I think she should have reflected more on the various implications ng mga statements na ito. And dragging religion into the picture by touching upon the Christian way of life may have made many gay Christian readers uncomfortable. Ganoon talaga kapag morality na ang pinag-uusapan. She should have

ALL I SEE
IC Mendoza
just stated her opinion from a scientific point of view, as a doctor, to inform and not to impose her own personal opinions. Tintin ends the article by saying that if her 3-year-old son turns out to be gay, she will accept him and that being a kind human being is more important than what your gender is. She ends the article with an ominous statement, it is God Who will judge us. I understand where Tintin is coming from and I know her to be a very sweet and intelligent woman. But those readers who dont know her personally might have gotten a holier than thou impression of her. The article was too preachy and written from a limited view of what gayness is. Gay men are men too. Just because a boy likes barbies doesnt mean hes gay in the same way that a girl who enjoys race cars is not necessarily a lesbian. Maleness isnt only liking what boys should like. Gay men still possess male attributes. I think they are confusing gender with sexuality. There are many types of gay men and women who are very much male and female. Its unfair to limit them and label them because they are all beautiful and unique. I think when we talk about homosexuality its important to get rid of stereotypes. To view homosexuality in general as not a disease that needs to be cured or corrected but a part of someones identity and soul. It should not be defined by stereotypes or defined based on our limited understanding, it should simply be embraced.

This year, perhaps Hong Kong produced more comedy films, like the ones you saw, and also some action films. They are at a slight disadvantage, he said. With new films from other directors in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the coming year, things will change. It takes a year or more to make a film, the Hong Kong actor said. Miami Heat tinakas ika-23 sunod panalo

Kumpletong resulta: Philadelphia 101 Portland 100; Charlotte 119 Washington 114; Indiana 111 Cleveland 90; Dallas 127 Atlanta 113; Brooklyn 119 Detroit 82; Miami 105 Boston 103; Denver 119 Chicago 118 (OT); Memphis 92 Minnesota 77; Golden State 93 New Orleans 72; Phoenix 99 LA Lakers 76; NY Knicks 90 Utah 83. REUTERS

It means a lot, sabi ni James. I know the history of the game. To be sitting in second place right now ... for us to be there and doing it the way we want to do it, it means a lot.

This was a passionate game, a lot of history between the two teams, wika ni Miami forward Shane Battier na kabilang sa Houston Rockets na gumawa ng 22-0 atake. Not that its playoff intensity ... nothings like the playoffs. Its a special opportunity that we have with this group and you dont want to take it for granted, COACH Erik Spoelstra sabi ni coach Erik Spoel-

stra. You want to treat every day as a special opportunity to be with this group, to share these moments together, but more importantly to take a step closer to going after our goal and every day that we improve puts us in a better position in a quest where nothing is guaranteed for anybody. UAAP board to appear in Senate

By Jasmine W. Payo
THE UAAP Board is set to explain the wisdom of a new league rule when the Senate holds a hearing tomorrow on the controversial two-year residency requirement that Sen. Pia Cayetano described as a cruel and unjust punishment for athletes. Cayetano, chair of the Senate youth committee, called for the hearing after the UAAP board ruled early this month that foreigners and UAAP high school players transferring to a member-school for college must sit out for two years. The rule, an amendment of the one-year residency requirement, covers all sports in the league. Were going to explain the wisdom behind the rule, said UAAP president Nilo Ocampo of host National University. We know that she (Cayetano) means well and shes just making sure to protect the rights of the youth and the students. Ocampo also cleared that the new rule, set to be implemented next season starting in June, remains open to amendments. Nothing is final until the final Board meeting, said Ocampo. We can still fine-tune and certain clauses may still be included. Among those likely covered by the new residency period are prospective transferees Jerie Pingoy and Ben Mbala, two of the top mens basketball recruits this year. Pingoy, the back-to-back UAAP juniors MVP from Far Eastern University, is set to play for Ateneo in college, while Mbala, the Cameroonian center of Cebu champion Southwestern University, is set to transfer to La Salle. It goes against the constitutional mandate to promote sports especially among our youth, and is an unreasonable limit on an athletes freedom of choice as well as academic freedom to choose which college to enter into, Cayetano said in a recent open letter to the UAAP Board. Cayetano, a triathlete and a former UAAP volleyball player for the University of the Philippines, added that the residency rule kills the dream and only serves as a cruel and unjust punishment for athletes.

Catholic marries INC

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20, 2013

DEAR Joe, I never really thought I would be writing you a letter. I guess I was desperate. I needed someone to tell me what to do, when to give up, how to start.
I was married for seven years. He was a seafarer. My husband and I got married without our families knowing about it. Initially, everything started wrong. I was a Catholic, he was INC. And though I know it will be hard for me, I got on, because I love him. His parents didnt approve of me, particularly because I was a Catholic and he is the sole breadwinner of his family. Ive been through a lot Joe, I managed to live my life being scolded by his family, or whenever I go home with him to his province, no one would bother talking to me, or worst, being embarrassed in front of their neighbors. I kept it all in heart, because I love my husband. I never answered back and I never retaliated. There were three instances that I had argued with my husband, three instances that led me being hurt physically. He didnt use to be like that, he was so loving, so sweet. I live a life full of pretensions, being afraid that one day he would leave me. I lost who I am because I have to adhere to what he wants me to be or else he would leave me. I thought love is not about conditions, its loving because you simply love the person despite their imperfections. He never did reassure me that whatever happens, he will always be there. It came to a point when I had to lie to myself, to him, to everybody around me. I love my husband Joe, more than anything else, more than God for I even traded God to be with him. I traded my principles and values.

Love Notes
Joe D Mango
www.lovenotes.com.ph

Recently, he broke up with me through e-mail, he said he was through with me. My world fell apart. Its already been three months now, and yet each second of my life seems to be a long journey. We have a son, and I cant seem to dig down inside me how he is able to surpass each day without talking to me or even to my son. I feel lost, I dont know where to start. I cant seem to move on. Maya DEAR Maya, The are so many things that we can do, so many rules that we can defy, so many people that we can ignore and so much of ourselves

that we can sacrifice all because of love. Love makes us believe in the promise of togetherness even if it means going against seemingly impossible obstacles. It gives us the courage to face our own fears and rebel against our own values. Love can make us do almost anything. You have loved so much that you forgot to leave a little for yourself. There is nothing wrong in loving your husband and completely submitting yourself to him but you have to remember that marriage is not just about making you husband happy. It is also about your husband doing the same for you. You give in to what he wants even if it hurts you. He has physically abused you and has shown you what you truly meant to him. It is just sad that the love that you have given so much to him was something that he probably will never give back to you. He has left you and your son and he probably didnt realize that he has gained his freedom but lost his family.

Marrying you was his choice and leaving you was also his choice. I believe that its about time that you learn to love and respect yourself. You have sacrificed enough. If he wants out, then let him go where he wants to be. You just have to accept that sometimes the only way to prove our love for someone is to let go and set that person free. Ultimately, it will be his loss not yours. You have your son. Take care of him and give him all the love that he deserves. God will take care of you and make things right in his own time. You just have to patient and believe that it will comethe time when you will truly be happy in love. Thank you for writing and never cease to pray for a miracle that will transform and renew you family. I wish you well.
